Yale and ADT Launch First-Ever Smart Lock with Z-Wave 800 and Fingerprint Access

Yale has teamed up with ADT to introduce a first-of-its-kind smart home upgrade: the Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch with Z-Wave 800 Series, now fully integrated with the ADT+ platform. This marks the only smart lock on the market offering fingerprint access over Z-Wave, giving homeowners more ways to secure (or unsecure) their front door, fingerprint first.

Smarter Lock, Smarter Integration

Designed to fit seamlessly into the ADT+ ecosystem, this new Yale model lets users unlock and disarm their system, or lock and rearm it, just by pressing a finger to the lock. That’s a bonus for anyone tired of juggling keys, phones, or access codes.

The lock is built on the Z-Wave 800 Series standard, offering extended wireless range, better energy efficiency, and faster, more reliable communication between smart devices. This means improved performance and longer battery life for the lock itself.

Flexible Access, Biometric Convenience

The Assure Lock 2 Touch isn’t just about the fingerprint reader. It’s designed to accommodate various users and routines with multiple unlocking options:

  • Fingerprint recognition for biometric-based entry
  • Custom entry codes for family, guests, or dog walkers
  • Auto Lock/Unlock for hands-free access as you come and go
  • Remote management via the ADT+ app
  • Physical key option, just in case

For ADT+ customers, the lock becomes a natural extension of the home security system, providing convenient control directly from the door.

Industry Collaboration with Z-Wave Alliance

Yale’s partnership with ADT and the Z-Wave Alliance brings a new Z-Wave Credential Command Class lock to market for the first time. According to Yale’s Kevin Kraus, Vice President of Technology Alliances and IoT Business Development, this joint effort delivers “not only enhanced security but also unparalleled convenience.”

Pricing and Availability

The Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch with Z-Wave 800 Series is available now for $279.99 at ADT.com, giving homeowners another secure option in the growing world of smart locks.
