WaterField Designs Launches New Shinjuku Messenger Bag

San Francisco-based WaterField Designs has introduced the Shinjuku Messenger Bag, specifically designed for Apple’s latest iPad models. Drawing inspiration from Tokyo’s vibrant Shinjuku district, this new offering aims to merge functionality with city-smart aesthetics.

Design and Materials

The Shinjuku Messenger Bag comes in two sizes and features a choice between X-Pac Canvas and traditional waxed canvas, coupled with premium full-grain leather. This bag is designed to be a less bulky alternative to traditional messenger bags, equipped with additional pockets for better organization and quick access, making it a suitable companion for city commuters or avid explorers.

Unique Features

Highlighting the bag’s utility are its multiple features:

  • Material Options: The bag is available in either a new X-Pac Canvas, known for its lightweight, durable, and water-resistant properties, or a classic tan waxed canvas for a more rugged, vintage look.
  • Accessibility: It includes a leather flap secured by two N35 rare-earth magnets and a zippered pocket on the flap for items such as phones and transit passes.
  • Storage: Beneath the flap lies a pleated front compartment with internal pockets and a key hook, while the main compartment includes a built-in pocket for tablets or laptops, lined with fleece for added protection.
  • Additional Convenience: The design incorporates a zippered compartment for valuables and an internal pocket that can hold a water bottle up to 3 inches in diameter, supporting upright positioning to prevent leaks.
  • Comfort and Handling: A comfortable leather handle is included for easy carrying, and the full-size handle is also suited for pairing with carry-on luggage handles.

Availability and Pricing

  • Price: Compact size at $229 and full size at $239.
  • Color Options: Available in storm gray or black X-Pac Canvas with black leather accents, or tan waxed canvas with chocolate leather accents.
  • Materials and Durability: Features include YKK waterproof zippers, custom metal zipper pulls, gold rip-stop nylon lining, and a metal key hook.
  • Dimensions and Weight: The compact version measures 11 x 9.5 x 3.5 inches and weighs 1.2 lbs in X-Pac Canvas (1.7 lbs in Waxed Canvas). The full version measures 13.5 x 10.5 x 3.5 inches and weighs 1.7 lbs in X-Pac Canvas (2.2 lbs in Waxed Canvas).

The Shinjuku Messenger Bag by WaterField Designs combines thoughtful design with practical features, catering to modern needs with a stylish, durable solution for daily commuting and travel.
