The popular camera-focused smartphone maker brand Vivo has unveiled two new camera-centric smartphones in its V series portfolio – the Vivo V40 and the Vivo V40 Pro. Vivo’s new V40 series smartphones bring meaningful upgrades including an impressive ZEISS-tuned camera setup, ultra-thin design, powerful processor, improved battery life, and much more. Let’s delve into the details.
In terms of hardware, the Pro variant got some big upgrades while the base variant retains the same processor from the last generation. Vivo V40 Pro comes with all flagship set of features. The V40 Pro smartphone inherited the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB onboard storage. While the Vivo V40 comes with a mid-range Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor from the last generation model.
For lenses, Vivo incorporated a flagship triple rear camera setup into the V40 Pro, consisting of a 50MP main camera with a Sony IMX921 sensor, a 50MP telephoto portrait camera with a Sony IMX816 sensor, and a 50MP ZEISS ultrawide shooter.

On the other hand, the vanilla V40 houses a dual rear camera setup. The 50MP primary camera is paired with a 50MP ZEISS-tuned ultra-wide shooter with a 119-degree field of view. There’s a 50MP ZEISS group selfie camera for capturing stunning selfies.
Both phones run on Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14 out of the box. Vivo promises three major Android OS updates (up to Android 17) and four years of security patches for the V40 series smartphones.
Another thing that the phones have in common is that they feature a stunning 6.78-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 4500 nits peak brightness. Furthermore, both phones house a massive 5,500mAh battery cell with 80W fast charging support. Unfortunately, there’s no wireless charging support here.
Other features of the Vivo V40 series include IP68 water and dust resistance ingress protection, stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and WiFi 6 support.
The Vivo V40 Pro retails at INR 54,999 ($655) for the 12GB/256GB model. While the vanilla Vivo V40 starts at INR 34,999 ($417) for the base 8GB/128GB variant. Both phones come in Moonlight White, Meteor Blue, and Stellar Silver color options, but the V40 offers two more additional color shades – Sunglow Peach and Nebula Purple.
The Vivo V40 series smartphones are currently available for pre-order in India. Open sales will begin on August 13th and 19th in India. Speaking about international availability, Vivo will gradually roll out the V40 series smartphones to other markets as well. However, the brand hasn’t yet revealed the exact timeline.
