Verizon and LG announced the Lucid for March 29th at $79.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year agreement. The 4G LTE Android 2.3 Gingerbread handset featured a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, a 4-inch touchscreen with Corning Gorilla Glass, a 5-megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD video, a front-facing camera, Swype, SmartShare DLNA, and a Mobile Hotspot for up to 10 devices. An Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update was confirmed. Designed for first-time smartphone buyers, it included lock screen shortcuts, Quick Reply for texts, a Quick Dialer home screen widget, and Guided Tours for on-device tutorials.
At $79.99 it was one of the most affordable 4G LTE phones on Verizon’s lineup, competitive enough to attract new smartphone buyers while packing sufficient hardware for more experienced users.
