Tractive, long recognized as a global front-runner in GPS technology for animals, has announced a strategic shift toward holistic pet management. The company today unveiled a suite of next-generation hardware and software updates designed to transition the brand from simple location tracking to a robust health intelligence platform.
By integrating advanced sensor arrays with machine learning, Tractive aims to provide pet owners with preemptive health data, filling a critical communication gap between animals and their human caretakers.
Redefining Canine Longevity: The DOG 6 XL
The centerpiece of the canine lineup is the new DOG 6 XL, a ruggedized tracker engineered for large breeds and high-activity environments. While maintaining a lighter profile than its predecessors, the device boasts the most significant battery life in the company’s history—lasting up to three times longer than the standard DOG 6 model.
Beyond endurance, the DOG 6 XL introduces Advanced Scratch Monitoring. This diagnostic tool tracks frequency and intensity of scratching, alerting owners to potential dermatological issues, allergies, or stress-induced behaviors before they escalate into clinical problems. Tractive also confirmed that a specialized “Adventure Edition,” featuring reinforced housing, is slated for release later this summer.
Feline-First Engineering: The CAT 6 Mini
Recognizing that feline health technology has historically lagged behind canine equivalents, Tractive introduced the CAT 6 Mini. This device is the industry’s first collar-integrated tracker specifically calibrated for feline physiology.
Key features of the CAT 6 Mini include:
- Vitals Tracking: The first consumer device to monitor resting heart and respiratory rates against feline-specific baselines to detect early signs of illness.
- Behavioral Mapping: An overhauled “Territory” feature that utilizes billions of data points to visualize roaming patterns and identify a cat’s preferred hiding spots.
- AI-Powered Health Summaries: Using machine learning algorithms to analyze thousands of data points—such as sleep patterns, activity levels, and heart rate—to identify trends.
- Elevated Health Screen Experience: It refers to the User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design of the app. It is the visual dashboard where all the health data lives.
Bridging the Data Gap with AI Insights
The hardware launch is accompanied by a massive overhaul of the Tractive mobile application. Moving away from raw data displays, the new interface utilizes AI-Powered Health Summaries. These weekly reports translate complex biometric signatures into plain-language guidance, offering actionable advice for pet parents.
“For years, we focused on the ‘where,'” stated Michael Hurnaus, CEO and founder of Tractive. “We are now answering the ‘how.’ Because pets cannot vocalize discomfort, we are using one of the world’s largest pet datasets to let their bodies do the talking.”
Global Availability
The CAT 6 Mini and DOG 6 XL are available immediately via the Tractive’s website and authorized global retailers, priced at $79 and $89 respectively. Both devices require a subscription plan to access the full suite of GPS and health monitoring services.
With an active presence in 175 countries, Tractive’s latest move signals a broader trend in the PetTech industry: the move toward integrated, data-driven preventative care.
