T-Mobile and Samsung officially announced the Vibrant 4G. As expected, it was more or less exactly like the original Vibrant, adding Froyo, an HSPA+ radio, a front-facing camera, and T-Mobile TV. No official date or pricing was confirmed at announcement, though availability in February was indicated.
T-Mobile also announced the expansion of their HSPA+ network into eight new cities, including Chattanooga, TN, and Rochester, MN, bringing their total 4G footprint to more than 100 major metropolitan areas reaching approximately 200 million people nationwide. The carrier also indicated plans to double network speeds in 2011, with 140 million Americans in 25 major metropolitan areas expected to have access to those increased speeds by midyear.
The announcement followed the earlier Froyo update that had finally reached the original Vibrant.
