TCL Launches C7L & C8L SQD-Mini LED TVs with Super Quantum Dot Tech

TCL, the global leader in ultra-large screen technology and the world’s top-ranked Google TV brand, has officially announced the launch of its latest premium television lineups: the C7L-UK and C8L-UK. These models introduce the company’s proprietary Super Quantum Dot (SQD) Mini LED technology, aimed at bridging the gap between traditional LED performance and high-end cinematic displays.

Next-Generation Display Technology

The centerpiece of the new launch is the Super Quantum Dot (SQD) technology. This innovation provides a 69 percent improvement in color accuracy compared to standard Quantum Dot panels. By integrating a Deep Colour System, TCL has effectively minimized light bleed—a common hurdle for Mini LED displays—ensuring sharper contrast between dark and light scenes.

The new panels offer a 33 percent broader color gamut, achieving 100 percent coverage of the BT.2020 standard. This allows the C7L-UK and C8L-UK to produce vibrant, lifelike images that rival the contrast ratios typically associated with OLED technology.

Unprecedented Brightness and Precision

TCL has significantly increased the number of local dimming zones to enhance backlight control:

  • C7L-UK: Features up to 2,176 dimming zones with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.
  • C8L-UK: Boasts up to 4,032 dimming zones and reaches an industry-leading 6,000 nits of peak HDR brightness.

Both models are powered by the TSR AiPQ processor, which utilizes artificial intelligence for motion processing and 4K upscaling. For enthusiasts and gamers, the displays support a native 144Hz refresh rate, which can be boosted to 288Hz at Full HD resolution via TCL Game Boost.

Strategic Audio Partnership

Recognizing that a cinematic experience requires superior acoustics, TCL has partnered with luxury audio brand Bang & Olufsen. The new C-series models come equipped with integrated 2.1 surround sound systems and full support for Dolby Atmos, providing an immersive, room-filling audio profile right out of the box.

Statement from TCL CEO

“With the introduction of the C7L-UK and C8L-UK, we are redefining the expectations for home entertainment,” said Li Dongsheng, CEO of TCL.

“Our goal is to make flagship-tier innovations—like our Super Quantum Dot technology and record-breaking peak brightness—accessible to a wider audience. By combining TCL’s manufacturing prowess with Bang & Olufsen’s audio expertise, we are delivering a sensory experience that is truly exceptional by design.”
