TAO Clean has launched the BioShield Travel Case 2.0, a portable UV-C sanitizing case designed to keep its Sonic Toothbrush clean during travel. Priced starting at $44.55, the battery-powered accessory uses ultraviolet light to kill 99.9% of five common bacteria in a four-minute cleaning cycle.
The new case brings TAO Clean’s BioShield sanitizing technology to a more portable format. The company’s Sonic Toothbrush normally sits in a docking station that sanitizes, dries, and charges it between uses. That station isn’t designed for travel, leaving owners without the same cleaning functionality when away from home.
Four Minutes to a Cleaner Toothbrush
The BioShield Travel Case 2.0 uses UV-C light to sanitize the toothbrush head. According to TAO Clean, independent laboratory testing confirmed that a single four-minute cycle kills 99.9% of five common bacteria, including E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella.
Operation is straightforward. Users place the Sonic Toothbrush inside, secure the latch, and the cleaning cycle starts automatically. A built-in safety feature shuts off the UV-C light whenever the case opens.
Unlike smaller sanitizers that cover only the brush head, TAO Clean’s case houses the entire toothbrush. Dedicated clamps secure the handle and brush head, positioning the bristles toward the UV-C lights. Ventilation holes provide airflow to help prevent moisture from becoming trapped inside.
The distinction matters when packing a damp toothbrush into a toiletry bag, particularly during trips where it might remain enclosed for hours.
Built for Travel Without Extra Cables
The BioShield Travel Case 2.0 runs on two AA batteries, which aren’t included. A flashing red indicator signals when replacements are needed.
The case measures approximately 1.9 x 3.3 x 9 inches and weighs 4.95 ounces without batteries. Its hard-shell construction uses ABS plastic and polypropylene, with a latch-lock closure designed to keep everything secure during travel.
One limitation worth mentioning is that the case doesn’t charge the Sonic Toothbrush. Travelers will still need a separate charging solution for longer trips.
