Sweekar Puts a Grown-Up AI Twist on the Pocket Pet Craze

Takway AI has introduced Sweekar, a pocket-sized AI companion that hatches from a physical egg, grows through four life stages, and develops a personality shaped by its owner’s interactions.

The device takes clear inspiration from Tamagotchi-style virtual pets, then adds voice recognition, long-term memory, physical growth, and cloud-connected AI. Sweekar weighs 89 grams and is designed to travel in a pocket rather than remain parked on a desk.

Growth Comes From Interaction

Sweekar begins in an egg stage and progresses through Baby, Teen, and Adult forms. Growth is tied to experience points rather than a fixed timeline. Feeding, cleaning, talking to, and picking up the device contribute to its development.

A stepper motor physically raises Sweekar by several millimeters as it reaches new stages. It starts at 6.1 cm in its closed egg form and reaches 7.1 cm as an adult. Each evolution brings new animations, speech patterns, behaviors, and personality traits.

During the Baby stage, Sweekar communicates through pre-verbal sounds and begins learning the owner’s voice. The Teen stage introduces words, personality development, and NFC-based “friend tap” interactions with other units. Adult Sweekars can take virtual jobs, leave on simulated adventures, and return with stories. From Level 30 onward, the companion cannot die, sparing owners the tiny digital funeral that haunted many childhood keychains.

Memory Shapes Each Companion

Takway AI says Sweekar uses a multi-layer memory system that retains details such as daily habits, favorite things, shared stories, and past conversations. Those memories appear in a mobile app as a digital scrapbook.

A cute, cartoonish sleeping companion figure sits on a bedside table, while a person is sleeping in bed, surrounded by white bedding in a dimly lit room.

Voice recognition is trained around the primary owner, and an MBTI-inspired framework influences how the pet’s personality develops. The company says two people raising identical units should end up with different behaviors over time.

The listed AI system combines Google Gemini Flash with what the company describes as “ChatGPT-class models.” The free plan includes 128 long-term memory slots, with unlimited memory listed as part of a Pro plan. Pricing for that subscription was not provided.

Sensors, Battery, and Connectivity

Sweekar includes touch sensors, millimeter-wave radar for pickup detection, vibration feedback, and time-of-day awareness. It responds to head pats and changes its facial expression based on mood.

Connectivity runs through 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot, making the device usable during commutes and trips. An offline care mode is included for basic interaction without a connection.

Four cute, cartoonish robot characters in various outfits, including a pirate, a snow outfit, and an explorer, standing on a city street.
Three colorful cartoonish capsule toys with cat ears, featuring large expressive eyes. The colors include yellow, lavender, and light blue.

The 730mAh battery is rated for up to eight hours of inactive use or two hours of active use. A USB-C cable, charging base, and user manual are included.

Takway AI says Sweekar does not contain a camera and is designed around EN 18031 privacy standards.

Kickstarter Availability

Sweekar is currently available through Kickstarter with Super Early Bird pricing for initial backers. The company plans Yellow, Blue, and Purple versions, though final color availability may change before production.

Interchangeable silicone shells, four outfit packs, and an open-source 3D-printable model are planned for customization. Retail pricing, a final shipping schedule, and confirmed warranty terms have not been announced.
