Supersize Your Squad: Dynamax Pokémon Storm Into Pokémon GO

Trainers, get ready for your next challenge as Dynamax Pokémon step into the world of Pokémon GO. If you’ve been itching for some new oversized partners, now’s your chance to catch these supercharged creatures and take on Max Battles. Trainers level 13 and above will unlock the “To the Max!” Special Research, which leads to encounters with Dynamax Pokémon, setting you up for some big-time battles.

The event surrounding Dynamax Pokémon runs until September 15, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time. During this period, Trainers can expect plenty of opportunities to engage with these larger-than-life Pokémon through various Power Spots located across the map.

What’s Dynamax All About?

Dynamax is a phenomenon where Pokémon not only grow in size but also gain a red aura and swirling clouds above them. These Pokémon appear in specific locations known as Power Spots. You can battle, catch, and even partner with your own Dynamax Pokémon in Max Battles, which feature up to four Trainers joining forces to take on Power Spot Bosses.

In battle, Dynamax Pokémon come equipped with three special moves:

  • Max Move: A powerful attack based on the Pokémon’s Fast Attack type.
  • Max Spirit: A healing move for both the user and its allies.
  • Max Guard: A defensive move that reduces incoming damage from Power Spot Bosses.

Max Particles and Power Spots

Max Particles are the key to unlocking the potential of Dynamax Pokémon. These particles, found at Power Spots and in the wild, allow your Pokémon to Dynamax. Collect them by interacting with Power Spots or through daily exploration with Adventure Sync. There’s a limit to how many Max Particles you can store at once, so grab them while you can.

Power Spots are not just for collecting Max Particles—they’re also home to Dynamax Pokémon waiting to be battled. Don’t expect these spots to hang around forever, though. They move around, so keep an eye out for shifting locations to stay on top of your game.

Max Battles: Taking on Power Spot Bosses

Max Battles allow up to four Trainers to team up against Power Spot Bosses using only Dynamax Pokémon. Victory requires a mix of strategy and teamwork, so gather your friends and prepare for a fight. Once a Power Spot Boss is defeated, you’ll have a chance to catch it—and don’t worry, Max Particles used in battle are only consumed when you win.

If you or your team struggle against the more powerful three-star or higher Power Spot Bosses, you can still help by cheering your teammates on, which boosts their meters. Victory rewards include Rare Candy, XP, and Premier Balls, among other items.

Rewards for Victory

Beating Power Spot Bosses offers a range of rewards, including a unique feature that allows you to station one of your Pokémon at the Power Spot. Doing so provides bonuses for future Trainers who take on the boss, plus additional rewards when your Pokémon returns. The more Pokémon placed at a Power Spot, the bigger the attack bonuses and the higher the chance of wild encounters around the area.

Make sure you’re ready to join the battle with Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon GO before time runs out.
