Sony Ericsson announced two new Xperia Android devices at CommunicAsia 2011 in Singapore: the Ray and the Active. Both ran Android 2.3 Gingerbread and were planned for global availability in Q3 2011, with no US release confirmed at the time.
Xperia Ray
The Ray was the newest luxury model in the Xperia lineup. At 9.4mm thin, it featured a 3.3-inch Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, an 8.1-megapixel camera with Exmor R sensor, HD 720p video, a front-facing VGA camera, a 1GHz processor, and Facebook inside Xperia integration. Available in Black, Gold, White, and Pink. Included a 4GB microSD card and 1500mAh battery.
Xperia Active
The Active was built for outdoor and fitness-focused users. It was dust-proof and water-resistant to 1 meter for 30 minutes, with a scratch-resistant screen featuring wet finger tracking. The compact 3-inch display paired with a 5-megapixel camera, 720p HD video, a 1GHz processor, built-in GPS, barometer, compass, and ANT+ support for on-screen heart rate monitoring. The iMapMyFitness app was preloaded for tracking workout routes and performance. Included a 2GB microSD card and 1200mAh removable battery.
