Panasonic announced an enterprise-grade Android tablet, expected to launch in Q4 2011. Dubbed the Toughbook tablet, it was designed for field workers in industries like healthcare, utilities, and maintenance where durability and reliability were non-negotiable.
Key features included a 10.1-inch high-brightness daylight-viewable XGA multi-touch display, an active stylus for signature capture, hardware-level security, satellite GPS, full-shift battery life, optional embedded 3G/4G mobile broadband, and durability consistent with Panasonic’s fully-rugged Toughbook lineup. Given the security requirements, Android 2.x rather than Honeycomb was expected at launch. No pricing or exact availability was provided at announcement.
