Sennheiser has officially announced the launch of the MOMENTUM 5 Wireless, marking the latest consumer-focused advancement in its premium headphone lineup. The new model retains the signature acoustic quality and extensive battery life of its predecessors while implementing key upgrades tailored to modern audio enthusiasts.
According to Product Manager Sreenath ‘Sri’ Unnikrishnan, the development team prioritized refining the comprehensive user experience without altering the core attributes that established the success of previous generations. The updates aim to bolster daily functionality while preserving the brand’s characteristic audio performance.
Audio Engineering and Customization
The MOMENTUM 5 Wireless integrates the brand’s established 42mm transducer, manufactured at its specialized facility in Tullamore, Ireland. Drawing inspiration from the HD 600-series architecture, the system is tuned to deliver a full-bodied sound profile accented by dynamic bass.
Acoustic capabilities have been expanded through Hi-Res Audio certification and the inclusion of Snapdragon Sound technology, which supports the aptX Lossless Bluetooth codec. Users can further tailor their listening experience via the complimentary Smart Control Plus companion app, which introduces an 8-band equalizer, customizable presets, and an automated Sound Personalization engine.
Advanced Noise Cancellation and Future-Proof Connectivity
The headphone’s active noise cancelling (ANC) architecture has been upgraded, delivering up to a threefold increase in efficacy against ambient vocal frequencies. By doubling the internal microphone array to four microphones per side, the system provides enhanced suppression of low-frequency ambient sounds, such as aircraft cabin noise, alongside clearer voice capture during telecommunications.
Built on an adaptable digital signal processing (DSP) and wireless platform, the hardware is designed to receive ongoing performance optimizations via firmware updates. Initial deployments will include an immediate update enabling Dolby Atmos compatibility featuring head-tracking spatial audio. The hardware launches with Bluetooth 5.4 capability and features an architecture engineered to support Bluetooth 6.0 through upcoming software releases.
Sustainability and Power Management
The MOMENTUM 5 Wireless delivers up to 57 hours of continuous playback on a single charge with ANC activated, supported by rapid-charging capabilities. This iteration introduces a user-serviceable 700 mAh battery designed to sustain high performance without degrading the acoustic chamber’s integrity. The power cell can be swapped manually in minutes using a standard Phillips-head screwdriver.
Environmental considerations influenced the product’s peripheral design. The included protective storage case has been reduced in size by 20 percent, and the retail packaging has transitioned to a compact, completely plastic-free format to lower shipping emissions. Each unit ships with a USB Type-C charging cable and a 3.5mm analog audio cable for auxiliary connectivity.

The MOMENTUM 5 Wireless will launch in three color variants: Black, White, and Denim. The product carries a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $399.99 USD.
