Qualcomm and Microsoft Unveil New AI-Powered PCs

Qualcomm and Microsoft have announced the launch of a new category of PCs powered by Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processors, delivering revolutionary Microsoft Copilot+ PC experiences. These new devices promise multiple days of battery life, unmatched performance, and efficiency, significantly enhancing productivity and creativity with unique AI capabilities.

The first wave of over 20 Copilot+ PCs, announced by major OEMs such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, and Samsung, are now available for pre-order and will hit major retailers on June 18. These devices are the first to bring Copilot+ experiences to life, leveraging the leading AI technology and performance efficiency of Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus platforms.

Qualcomm’s new processors aim to restore performance leadership in the Windows PC ecosystem. The Snapdragon X Elite features a powerful NPU capable of delivering 45 TOPS, the highest performance per watt for laptops. This platform outperforms competitors, offering up to 2.6 times the NPU performance of Apple’s M3 and up to 5.4 times that of Intel’s Core Ultra 7. Additionally, the Qualcomm Oryon CPU in the Snapdragon X Elite matches competitor peak CPU performance at 60% less power.

Alex Katouzian, Group General Manager of Mobile, Compute & XR at Qualcomm Technologies, highlighted the transformative impact of this collaboration, stating, “Our collaboration with Microsoft combines the power of Snapdragon X Series with Copilot+ to deliver groundbreaking AI capabilities that redefine the personal computing experience – all with industry-leading performance and multi-day battery life.”

Pavan Davuluri, Corporate Vice President of Windows + Devices for Microsoft, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the performance per watt leadership and groundbreaking AI experiences enabled by Snapdragon X Series processors.

Here’s a look at some of the newly launched Copilot+ PCs:

  • Acer: The Swift 14 AI incorporates Snapdragon X Series platforms and Copilot+ capabilities in Windows 11. It features solutions like Acer PurifiedView 2.0 and Acer PurifiedVoice 2.0, a 2.5K touchscreen display option, and a unique AI logo on the cover.
  • ASUS: The Vivobook S 15 with Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus offers 45 NPU TOPS, 45W TDP, and ASUS IceCool Thermal technology. It boasts more than 18 hours of battery life and a 15.6-inch 3K 120 Hz OLED display.
  • Dell: Dell introduces five new laptops, including the XPS 13 and Inspiron 14 Plus, powered by Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus. These devices deliver exceptional speed, AI performance, and groundbreaking battery life.
  • HP: The HP OmniBook X AI PC and EliteBook Ultra AI PC feature Snapdragon X Elite processors with 45 TOPS NPU, offering up to 26 hours of battery life, rapid charging, and AI optimization for greater productivity.
  • Lenovo: The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x and ThinkPad T14s Gen 6, powered by Snapdragon X Elite, offer top PC performance per watt and fast NPU-based AI processing. These devices enhance creativity, productivity, and security with Windows 11 and Copilot+ enhancements.
  • Microsoft: The new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro, powered by Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus, feature updated designs, AI-enhanced cameras, and ultra-long battery life. The Surface Pro introduces a new OLED with HDR display and a flexible keyboard.
  • Samsung: The Galaxy Book4 Edge, with Snapdragon X Elite, offers 14-inch and 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display options. It integrates hybrid AI features and brings Galaxy AI capabilities to the PC’s expansive display.

These new devices represent a significant step forward in personal computing, combining powerful AI capabilities with exceptional performance and efficiency. They promise to enhance user experiences across productivity, creativity, and entertainment, solidifying Qualcomm and Microsoft’s leadership in the PC ecosystem.
