POCO has announced the F9 Ultra, a high-end Android phone built around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, an unusually large 8,050mAh battery, and a 6.9-inch AMOLED display capable of reaching 185Hz. The company is pairing it with the more affordable POCO F9 Pro, giving buyers two options in its latest F-series lineup.
The F9 Ultra starts at $799, with early-bird pricing dropping that figure to $729.
Gaming Hardware Takes Center Stage
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 provides the foundation for the F9 Ultra, but POCO is adding its own VisionBoost D8 chipset to handle gaming-related processing.
POCO says the D8 can provide 185FPS Smart frame interpolation alongside AI Super Resolution. The combination is aimed at producing smoother gameplay and sharper graphics in supported titles rather than relying entirely on native rendering at extremely high frame rates.
That hardware feeds a 6.9-inch HyperRGB AMOLED display with a maximum 185Hz refresh rate. POCO says the phone marks the global debut of the flagship M11 panel, which can reach up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness.
The screen specifications put high-refresh gaming firmly near the top of the F9 Ultra’s priority list.
An 8,050mAh Battery And Bose-Tuned Audio
Keeping all those pixels moving requires plenty of power, and the F9 Ultra packs an 8,050mAh typical-capacity battery. HyperCharge support is included, though charging speeds were not specified in the supplied announcement.
POCO has expanded its partnership with Bose, too. The F9 Ultra includes Sound by Bose Game Audio for gaming and a 2.1-channel audio system co-tuned with Bose.
That 2.1 arrangement is an unusual addition for a smartphone and could give the F9 Ultra another angle for buyers who spend plenty of time gaming or watching video without headphones.
POCO Makes Its First Jump To 200MP
The F9 Ultra is the first POCO phone equipped with a 200-megapixel main camera. It introduces a dedicated 200MP shooting mode and pairs the primary camera system with a 5x periscope telephoto lens.
POCO describes the setup as offering a more advanced photography experience, though detailed sensor specifications and additional camera information were not provided.
The phone carries a more premium design treatment, including a dynamic lighting element integrated into what POCO calls the Bose DECO.
