MyFitnessPal Acquires Intent to Bring AI-Driven Meal Planning to Millions

MyFitnessPal, the leading nutrition and food tracking app, has acquired Intent, a personalized meal planning platform. This move expands MyFitnessPal’s services, making it easier for its 270 million members to plan meals that fit their goals, preferences, and lifestyles.

Smarter Meal Planning, Less Guesswork

Meal planning can feel like a full-time job—balancing nutrition, variety, and grocery lists isn’t exactly a breeze. With Intent’s AI-driven system, MyFitnessPal is rolling out new personalized meal plans tailored to different eating styles, including low-carb, flexitarian, Mediterranean, and vegetarian.

Users will get:

  • Customized meal plans based on their health goals and dietary preferences.
  • Easier food tracking, with meals built to log seamlessly into MyFitnessPal.
  • Automatic grocery lists that simplify shopping.
  • One-click ingredient ordering from major online retailers.

“Figuring out what to eat to support your health goals may feel overwhelming, especially without the time or experience to plan ahead. This is why learning how to create balanced, healthy meals is so important—particularly for those just beginning their health journeys,” said Mike Fisher, CEO of MyFitnessPal.

Meal Planning Arrives in MyFitnessPal Premium+

The new Meal Planner feature will be available through MyFitnessPal Premium+, a membership priced at $99.99 per year. Launching this spring, the feature will roll out across the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. A waitlist is open now for early access.

Intent Joins the MyFitnessPal Team

As part of the acquisition, Intent’s co-founders Will Sun and Peter Zhang and their team will now be part of MyFitnessPal.

The MyFitnessPal app remains free on the App Store and Google Play, while Intent’s existing app will continue running until April 2026 to allow for a smooth transition.

Members can upgrade to MyFitnessPal Premium for $79.99 per year to unlock faster logging and more customization options.
