Jamo has announced the HYG 5, a $399 all-in-one Wi-Fi speaker designed to bring high-resolution audio, wireless streaming, and understated Scandinavian styling into the home. As the flagship model in the company’s HYG Series, it combines a music streamer, amplifier, and active speaker system inside a single fabric-wrapped cabinet.
The HYG 5 takes its name from hygge, the Danish concept centered on comfort, relaxation, and togetherness. That philosophy carries into its design, which favors soft materials, ambient lighting, and simple controls over a complicated collection of audio components.
A Compact Design Built for Bigger Sound
Inside the Jamo HYG 5 are two 2.5-inch full-range drivers angled upward and outward to create a wider stereo presentation. A 4-inch down-firing woofer handles lower frequencies, supported by two symmetrical flared bass ports beneath the cabinet.

Jamo says the ports feature ribbed interior walls designed to reduce unwanted vibrations. The arrangement aims to deliver fuller sound from a single speaker without requiring separate components or additional wiring.
The HYG 5 includes a touch interface that dims during standby and gesture controls that let users wake the speaker and resume their previous audio source with a wave of the palm.
A warm ambient light ring adjusts automatically to surrounding light conditions. Users can fine-tune its brightness through the companion app or turn it off entirely.
Jamo worked with Danish creative sound agency Unmute to develop the speaker’s startup, pairing, and notification sounds, drawing inspiration from Nordic nature and acoustic instruments.
Streaming Options Cover the Major Platforms

The HYG 5 supports Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, TuneIn, and QPlay II for streaming music and radio.
Google Cast and AirPlay 2 provide additional casting and multi-room playback options, making the speaker suitable for homes with existing wireless audio setups.
Bluetooth 5.0 handles direct wireless connections, and a stereo RCA input accommodates traditional audio sources such as CD players and record players. Dual-band Wi-Fi supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks.
For listeners with high-resolution music libraries, the HYG 5 supports audio playback up to 24-bit/96kHz.
The Jamo Play app, available for Android and iOS, handles setup, playback, and personalized equalizer adjustments.
