Huawei has unveiled its first foldable smartphone in the Nova lineup – the Nova Flip. The brand’s new flip smartphone is primarily advertised as a fashion accessory rather than a foldable phone. Anyway, the Nova Flip also comes with impressive hardware and an appealing design, making it the slimmest powerful foldable smartphone.
Huawei packs a sturdy waterdrop hinge mechanism in the Nova Flip which is rated at 1.2 million bends. Speaking about the dimensions, the smartphone measures just 6.88mm when unfolded and weighs a mere 195 grams. Unlike other flip smartphones available in the market like Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Xiaomi Mix Flip, you get a slightly smaller 2.14-inch OLED cover display which is just right next to the dual camera setup.
The Nova Flip has a stunning 6.94-inch FHD+ LTPO OLED panel with 1-120Hz refresh rate support. For lenses, it features a dual rear camera setup at the back, consisting of a 50MP primary sensor paired with a 1/1.56-inch Huawei’s in-house RYYB sensor and an 8MP Ultrawide shooter. There’s a 32MP shooter at the front for capturing selfies and video chats.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered Kirin 8000 processor paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It runs on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4.2 out of the box. Huawei also packs several AI features including subject removal, text selection from images, image generation, and other AI tricks. The device houses a massive 4,400mAh battery cell with 66W fast-wired charging support. Unfortunately, there’s no wireless charging support.
Huawei Nova Flip starts at CNY 5,288 ($744) for the 12GB/256GB model while the high-end 1TB variant retails at CNY 6,488 ($911). It comes in four trendy color options – Sakura Pink, Zero White, Starry Black, and New Green. Open sales for the Nova Flip will begin on August 10 in China.
