CHUWI Introduces AuBox X, a Palm-Sized AI Mini PC

CHUWI has announced the AuBox X, an ultra-compact AI mini PC designed to bring on-device artificial intelligence processing into a form factor small enough to sit quietly in the background. Measuring just 0.67 liters in volume, the system pairs Intel’s latest Core Ultra (Series 2, Lunar Lake) processors with dedicated AI acceleration hardware, targeting users who want desktop-class capabilities without the footprint or noise of a traditional PC.

The AuBox X represents CHUWI’s entry into the growing category of AI-focused personal computers, where tasks like image processing, transcription, and automation can run locally rather than relying on cloud services.

Built for the AI PC Era

At the core of the AuBox X is a hybrid architecture combining CPU, GPU, and a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU). Together, the system delivers up to 115 TOPS (trillions of operations per second) of total AI performance, with the Core Ultra 5 configuration reaching up to 97 TOPS.

The inclusion of Intel’s AI Boost NPU allows the system to handle AI workloads directly on the device. That translates into faster response times for tasks like background removal, live captions, and image enhancement, while keeping data local for privacy-conscious users. Support for Copilot+ PC features such as Click to Do and Cocreator is also baked in, aligning the AuBox X with Microsoft’s broader AI-driven Windows experience.

Compact Hardware With Room to Expand

Despite its size, the AuBox X doesn’t lean on minimalism when it comes to connectivity. The mini PC includes USB4 with 40Gbps bandwidth, HDMI 2.1 outputs, DisplayPort 1.4, and support for up to three displays, including 8K at 60Hz. Six USB-A ports, 2.5Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 round out the connectivity suite.

Memory comes in the form of 16GB LPDDR5X running at 8533 MT/s, integrated directly on-chip for lower latency. Storage is handled via dual M.2 2280 slots, with support for PCIe 5.0 on one slot, allowing users to scale performance depending on their needs.

For users who prefer a clean desk setup, the system also supports 100W USB-C power delivery and includes a VESA mount for flexible placement behind monitors or within compact workspaces.

Intel Arc Graphics Add Visual Muscle

Graphics duties are handled by integrated Intel Arc GPUs, with two tiers depending on configuration. The higher-end model features Arc 140V graphics, while the entry configuration uses Arc 130V. According to CHUWI, the Arc 140V approaches the performance of entry-level discrete GPUs like the GeForce RTX 3050, while the Arc 130V offers a notable step up from previous Iris Xe solutions.

This makes the AuBox X suitable not just for productivity and AI tasks, but also for light creative workloads such as photo editing, rendering, and even some entry-level 3D work.

Two Configurations, Different Audiences

CHUWI is offering the AuBox X in two configurations, each aimed at a slightly different user profile.

The Core Ultra 5 226V version is positioned as a practical choice for home offices, media playback, and general multitasking. With 97 TOPS of AI performance and a 512GB SSD, it’s designed to deliver a balanced experience at a more accessible price point.

The Core Ultra 7 256V model steps things up with 115 TOPS, a faster Arc 140V GPU, and a larger 1TB SSD. This configuration is better suited for users working with creative applications or heavier AI-assisted workflows, where additional performance headroom can make a noticeable difference.

Quiet Operation, Always-On Potential

One of the more understated features of the AuBox X is its low noise output, rated at under 45dB during operation. Combined with its energy-efficient design, the system is positioned as a device that can run continuously without drawing much attention or power.

CHUWI also highlights support for OpenClaw, an open-source AI assistant designed for automation and workflow optimization. With both native Windows and WSL deployment options, the system can serve as a small but capable hub for ongoing AI tasks.

Pricing and Availability

The AuBox X is scheduled to be available for pre-order starting mid-April through CHUWI’s official stores. Pricing is set at $699 for the Core Ultra 5 model and $829 for the Core Ultra 7 variant. A limited $70 early-bird discount will be offered during the pre-order window.
