HomerunPET Self-Cleaning Litter Box Review

CS106 Self-Cleaning Litter Box DEALS

Automatic litter boxes have become increasingly common over the last few years, but many still share the same limitation: they’re designed around average-sized cats. Larger breeds, multi-cat households, and cats that simply prefer a little more room often end up with products that feel cramped.

The HomerunPET CS106 Self-Cleaning Litter Box takes a different approach.

At $700, this is one of the more expensive automatic litter boxes on the market, but it’s also arguably the most ambitious. With a massive 106-liter dome volume, an 18-inch litter bed, automatic litter refilling, and one of the quietest cleaning systems we’ve encountered, it’s clearly designed to solve many of the frustrations cat owners experience with self-cleaning boxes.

After spending time setting it up and introducing it to my sister’s household, the first thing that stood out wasn’t the technology. It was the sheer amount of space inside.

Design & Build Quality

The CS106 immediately earns attention because of its sheer size. HomerunPET claims it’s the largest automatic litter box currently available, and after seeing it in person, that claim feels believable.

The HomerunPET CS106 doesn’t just automate litter duty. It practically removes it from the weekly to-do list.

Interestingly enough, the overall footprint isn’t dramatically larger than many competing models or those we’ve used in the past. Instead, the extra space comes from the taller design and significantly larger dome volume. That distinction matters because it creates a more open environment for cats without requiring an enormous amount of floor space.

The always-open entrance is another thoughtful design choice. Cats don’t need to push through a flap or navigate a door to enter. For pets that dislike enclosed spaces or are hesitant around automatic litter boxes, this open design can make a meaningful difference in adoption.

Build quality feels appropriately premium for a product at this price point. The exterior is clean and modern, with tight panel gaps, sturdy construction, and materials that feel durable enough for years of daily use. A front-mounted control panel features five clearly labeled buttons that provide direct access to key functions without requiring the companion app.

The waste drawer sits neatly below the main chamber, and HomerunPET includes an optional gel deodorizer that installs near the waste compartment. During testing, odor control was excellent. Even after multiple cleaning cycles and several days of use, there was little noticeable smell around the unit.

Setup

Getting started proved refreshingly simple.

Assembly took roughly twenty minutes from unboxing to operation. Installation primarily involves inserting the waste bag liner, filling the 4.5-liter litter reservoir, plugging the unit into power, and optionally connecting it to Wi-Fi.

The companion app uses a 2.4GHz connection and paired quickly during testing. Once connected, the interface presents the most commonly used functions front and center, including Clean Now and Refill Litter commands. Navigation is straightforward and avoids the clutter that often plagues smart home applications.

Those who prefer not to use an app aren’t sacrificing functionality. Every major operation can be controlled directly from the front panel, making the CS106 perfectly usable as a standalone appliance.

Features & Performance

The most impressive feature isn’t the automation. It’s the silence.

HomerunPET rates the cleaning cycle at under 39dB, and in practical use that figure feels accurate. Sitting approximately five feet away, the cleaning process was nearly impossible to hear. Compared to many automatic litter boxes that announce every cycle with motors, grinding sounds, or mechanical clunks, the CS106 operates with remarkable discretion.

The cleaning system itself works smoothly. The dome tilts and rotates, separating clean litter from waste before depositing clumps into the sealed 12-liter waste drawer below. Across several weeks of testing, cleaning cycles completed reliably without jams or interruptions.

Both of our test cats adapted within a few days. That’s notable because acceptance can often be the biggest hurdle for automatic litter boxes. The spacious interior, open entry design, and quiet operation likely contributed to the smooth transition.

The standout feature, however, is the automatic litter refill system.

A built-in 4.5-liter reservoir continuously replenishes litter after cleaning cycles, maintaining a consistent litter depth without requiring daily attention. For a single-cat household, HomerunPET estimates the reservoir can last around two weeks before needing a refill. During testing, the system consistently maintained appropriate litter levels without intervention.

Combined with the large waste capacity, the result is a genuinely low-maintenance experience. The 12-liter waste drawer is rated for up to fourteen days of use, and in our testing we only needed to empty it once during the first two weeks.

Safety features are equally comprehensive. Weight sensors, radar detection, and an anti-pinch bumper all performed as expected during testing. The system reliably detected cat activity and paused operation whenever necessary.

The Early Take

The HomerunPET CS106 isn’t trying to be the most affordable automatic litter box, not even by a stretch. It’s trying to eliminate as much routine maintenance as possible while providing a litter space cats actually want to use.

For households with larger cats, multiple cats, or owners tired of constantly topping off litter and emptying waste trays, the formula is compelling. The enormous interior, automatic litter refilling, fourteen-day waste capacity, excellent odor control, and whisper-quiet operation create a premium experience that stands apart from many competitors.

At $700, it represents a significant investment. Yet after several weeks of use, it’s easy to see where that money goes. The CS106 feels thoughtfully engineered, performs reliably, and addresses some of the most common pain points associated with automatic litter boxes.

Long-term durability and app performance will ultimately determine its place among the category’s best, but the early signs are extremely promising. I suspect, much like I find with robot vacuum cleaners it might be one of those cases where it’s hard to get away from this and go back to something lesser.
