Verizon announced they would be carrying the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, confirming the carrier as the first in the US to offer the world’s first Android 4.0 smartphone. No pricing or firm launch date beyond “later this year” was provided.
The Galaxy Nexus on Verizon added 4G LTE to its feature set. Key specs: a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display (1280×720), a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera with zero shutter lag and 1080p video, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, NFC with Android Beam, and access to Google’s full suite of apps. Ice Cream Sandwich features included Face Unlock, a redesigned UI, enhanced multitasking, and improved notifications.
