These Kiwibit Feeders Bring 4K Video and AI Birdwatching to Your Backyard

Birdwatching has traditionally required some combination of patience, binoculars, and being near the window at exactly the right moment. Kiwibit takes a decidedly more connected approach, pairing traditional backyard feeders with cameras, solar charging, and AI-powered bird recognition.

The company specializes in smart bird feeders designed to capture the visitors that come and go throughout the day, then puts those sightings into an app where users can watch footage, identify species, and share what they’ve seen. It’s an appealing intersection of nature and consumer tech, particularly for people who like the idea of birdwatching but aren’t interested in turning it into another hobby that requires homework.

Two of Kiwibit’s current options illustrate the range particularly well. The Bird Feeder 2 Pro is the higher-end choice, built around 4K video, PDAF autofocus tracking, slow-motion recording, dual solar panels, and Kiwibit’s FeatherPal AI platform. The smaller Bird Feeder 2 Mini keeps many of the core ideas, including 4K HDR recording and bird identification, in a less expensive package with lifetime FeatherPal AI access.

Both are designed around the same basic premise: fill the feeder, mount it outside, connect it to Wi-Fi, and let the birds provide the programming. It’s 2026 after all, of course birds are content creators.

Kiwibit Bird Feeder 2 Pro

At $259.99 during its early-bird promotion, down from $299.99, the Kiwibit Bird Feeder 2 Pro is the flagship of the lineup. It’s aimed at bird enthusiasts who care as much about capturing good footage as identifying what’s visiting the feeder.

The camera records 4K Ultra HD video at 3280 × 2460 and pairs it with Phase-Detection Auto-Focus (PDAF) tracking. Rather than relying on a fixed focal point, the camera can follow birds as they move around the feeder, which should prove particularly useful with hummingbirds and other quick visitors. A 130-degree wide-angle lens and HDR help manage the unpredictable lighting that comes with pointing a camera outdoors all day.

For faster action, the Pro can record 1080p video at 60 or 120 fps, giving users slow-motion playback for wingbeats, takeoffs, landings, and feeder squabbles.

AI Bird Recognition

Kiwibit’s FeatherPal platform handles the identification side. The Bird Feeder 2 Pro includes a 30-day trial of Kiwibit Individual, which adds recognition for more than 10,000 bird species, audio recognition, named recurring visitors, and shareable PostCards.

The feeder remains useful without the subscription. Owners retain 4K live viewing, motion alerts, and sharing with as many as 20 family members.

Built for Long-Term Outdoor Use

A pair of integrated 5W solar panels feeds a removable 5,200mAh battery. Kiwibit says two hours of adequate sunlight can provide up to three days of operation. USB-C charging provides a backup when winter weather refuses to cooperate.

Two 1.7-liter seed hoppers provide 3.4 liters of total capacity, while IP65 weather resistance and an operating range of -4°F to 122°F prepare it for year-round duty.

Dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Alexa compatibility, and multiple mounting options round out a feeder aimed at someone who wants a capable backyard wildlife camera without building a dedicated camera rig.

Kiwibit Bird Feeder 2 Mini

The Kiwibit Bird Feeder 2 Mini takes the same idea and pares it down into a smaller, less expensive package. Priced at $179.99, down from $229.99, it’s likely the easier entry point for casual birdwatchers, families, and gift buyers.

Its camera records 4K HDR video at 3840 × 2160 through a 132-degree wide-angle lens. Users can switch to 1080p/60fps for slow-motion footage, and infrared night vision keeps the camera useful after sunset.

The particularly interesting difference is the AI model. The Bird Feeder 2 Mini includes lifetime access to FeatherPal AI, rather than relying on an ongoing subscription for bird identification. It can recognize more than 10,000 species, track recurring visitors, record behaviors, and create shareable PostCards.

Smaller and Simpler

A built-in 1.8W solar panel charges the feeder’s 4,500mAh battery, with USB-C available when sunlight isn’t enough. The camera itself can be removed from the feeder, making charging and repositioning easier.

Kiwibit includes wall and pole mounting hardware, and the IP65 enclosure is rated for temperatures from -4°F to 122°F.

The Mini makes the most sense for someone who likes the idea of a connected feeder but doesn’t need the Pro’s faster slow-motion recording, PDAF tracking, larger seed capacity, or more substantial solar setup. Lifetime FeatherPal access sweetens the deal for buyers who would rather not add another subscription to the monthly pile.

Taken together, the Bird Feeder 2 Mini and Bird Feeder 2 Pro make Kiwibit’s pitch fairly straightforward. The Mini is the approachable, lower-cost route into AI-assisted birdwatching, while the Pro puts more emphasis on camera performance and longer-term outdoor operation. Either way, the birds finally get their own security camera, though they’re unlikely to respect the property line.
