The OnePlus Watch 3 offers a ton of polish to Wear OS for $329

better battery life and new rotating crown shine through

The OnePlus Watch 3 is here, marking a significant upgrade to its smartwatch lineup. Priced at $329, this new device boasts a longer battery life, the latest Wear OS 5, and several other improvements.

One of the key features of the OnePlus Watch 3 is its dual-chipset and dual-OS system, building upon the approach of its predecessor. This design allows the watch to handle basic tasks via a low-power OS, reserving Wear OS for more demanding apps and features, which significantly extends battery life with the 631mAh battery. According to OnePlus, the “Smart” battery mode can provide up to 120 hours (5 days) of use on a single charge.

The OnePlus Watch 3 features an updated design with a sleeker look and an asymmetric stainless steel chassis. The bezel is now made of titanium, and the 1.5-inch screen is protected by sapphire glass. A notable hardware enhancement is the addition of a rotating crown/power button for UI navigation within Wear OS. The watch is available in two variants: “Obsidian Titanium” with a dark black bezel and “Emerald Titanium” with a lighter silver bezel. Thankfully, you can also get an official Nordic Blue strap that matches the latest releases of the OnePlus 13 and Buds Pro 3.

For software, the OnePlus Watch 3 runs Wear OS alongside a custom RTOS. The RTOS handles notifications, watch faces, and other low-power functions, while Wear OS supports more advanced features and apps. New software features include video watch faces and a remote control function for paired OnePlus devices. The rest of the power train is run by the latest Snapdragon W5+ chip found in many Wear OS devices.

The OnePlus Watch 3 also brings significant health-related upgrades. It features a new sensor array, including a wrist temperature sensor, an 8-channel optical heart rate sensor, and a 16-channel pulse oximeter sensor. The heart rate sensor can now run continuously, providing real-time data, and the watch supports vascular health tracking and ECG measurements. A new “60-Second Health Check-In” feature, arriving in Q2 2025, will offer a quick snapshot of various health metrics. The OnePlus Watch 3 also includes enhanced sleep monitoring and over 100 sports modes. The OHealth app has been updated with new ways to display metrics, including Sleep Trends Analysis and Heart Rate Trends.

The OnePlus Watch 3 is currently available for pre-order in the US and will begin shipping on February 25. We’ll have a full review in the coming days as well.
