OKA has announced Mori, an AI-powered home robot designed to bring a calming, nature-inspired presence into everyday living spaces. Rather than cleaning floors, answering questions, or managing smart home devices, Mori focuses on ambient companionship through movement, lighting, and sound.
Created by experimental technology company OKA (One Kind Artifact), Mori resembles a modern table lamp with its sculptural shape, soft wool-blend fabric, and warm illumination. Its understated design helps it blend into a living room, bedroom, or home office without looking like another piece of high-tech equipment.
A Home Robot That Reads the Room

Mori operates using what OKA calls Attentive Intelligence, a system designed to observe its surroundings and respond according to context.
The robot can turn toward someone entering a room, sway along with music, or remain still when someone is reading. It gradually becomes familiar with its environment, noticing changes such as unfamiliar objects or unexpected sounds.
Its behavior is influenced by VIBE, short for Vitality, Interaction, Bonding, and Emotion. This internal system adjusts Mori’s expressions, movements, and responses over time, potentially making the same interaction feel different from one day to the next.
Unlike conventional voice assistants, Mori doesn’t rely on spoken commands or a display. Most interactions involve a simple touch, with the robot communicating through subtle movements, expressive eyes, and audio cues.
Bringing a Little Nature Indoors

Nature-inspired experiences are central to Mori’s purpose. Through synchronized lighting, movement, and high-fidelity audio, the robot recreates ambient environments inspired by rainstorms, forests, and campfires.
Users can activate these experiences with a touch, or Mori may gently suggest one during the day.
OKA says Mori processes environmental perception on-device, with a camera that can be physically concealed when its head retracts into its body. That physical privacy feature should appeal to people who aren’t particularly comfortable with cameras watching their living spaces.
Pricing and Availability

Mori is the first of five planned products from OKA, founded by Hua Wang and Weizhe Chen. The company intends to create a limited collection of technology products focused on strengthening people’s relationships with their surroundings, nature, and one another.
The limited Mori Founder Edition costs $649, with only a few hundred units planned. It includes priority delivery, two years of hardware coverage, and two years of subscription service valued at $158.
Standard preorders follow at $799, with a $79 deposit.
Mori takes an unusual approach to home robotics, prioritizing atmosphere and companionship over traditional utility. Its appeal will likely depend on how naturally those interactions fit into everyday life.
