L’Atitude 52°N Redefines Wearable Tech with Award-Winning Departure Collection

Hailing from the creative pulse of Berlin, design-forward eyewear brand L’Atitude 52°N is officially bridging the gap between high-end aesthetics and invisible technology. Following a successful preview at IFA 2025, the brand is launching its Departure Collection, a series of smart glasses engineered to blend minimalist German styling with powerful AI-driven capabilities.

Award-Winning Design Meets Global Recognition

L’Atitude 52°N has already secured its place on the world stage, clinching two 2026 Red Dot Awards for Product Design. The international jury honored both the Smart Glasses and the innovative Intercom Strap, citing their superior build quality and the seamless integration of tech into a wearable form factor.

The Lineup: Berlin and Milan

The collection introduces two distinct silhouettes designed for diverse facial structures and style preferences:

  • BERLIN: A bold, modern “navigator” frame, available for immediate purchase.
  • MILAN: A classic, versatile “panto” frame scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2026.

The CEO’s Vision: Empowerment Through Intelligence

For Gary Chen, CEO of L’Atitude 52°N, the goal wasn’t just to make a gadget, but to enhance how humans interact with their environment.

“The Departure Collection establishes a new benchmark for what wearable technology can be. By fusing ergonomic comfort with intuitive intelligence, we are empowering our users to navigate the world with a newfound sense of freedom and style. It’s about being present in the moment while having the world’s information at your disposal.” — Gary Chen, CEO

Technical Prowess and “Hey Goya” AI

Underneath the sleek frames lies a powerhouse of hardware. Each pair features a 12MP ultra-wide Sony camera with a 107∘ field of view, capable of capturing 1080p HD video from a first-person perspective.

The user experience is driven by the “Hey Goya” voice assistant, which allows for hands-free navigation, real-time Q&A, and landmark insights via the AI Tour Guide. For international travelers, the system offers Live Translation across five languages: English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian.

Key Hardware Specifications:

  • Audio: Open-ear stereo speakers and a five-microphone array for crystal-clear calls.
  • Durability: IP65-rated water and dust resistance with DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coated hinges.
  • Weight: A featherlight 40g (base frame) to 50g (with lenses).
  • Battery: 6 hours of active use, with a charging case that provides up to 10 full recharges.

A Privacy-First Philosophy

In an era of data concerns, L’Atitude 52°N has implemented a local-first storage policy. All photos and videos are stored directly on the glasses and synced to the user’s smartphone via the Latitude 52 App. Media is never uploaded to the cloud.

Furthermore, a physical Privacy LED on the temple alerts others when recording is in progress. To prevent surreptitious filming, the device is engineered to cease recording immediately if the LED sensor is obstructed.

Connectivity and the Intercom Strap

Beyond individual use, the upcoming Intercom Strap introduces a social element to the hardware. Utilizing Bluetooth and Mesh networking, the strap allows for offline group communication for up to eight people—perfect for hikers or travelers in remote areas without cellular service.

Launch Details and Pricing

The BERLIN model is set for pre-order starting Tuesday, May 19, with general sales beginning May 26 across the US, UK, and Europe.

Early Bird Incentives:

  • Immediate Savings: Customers can claim a $100 voucher on the official website of L’Atitude 52°N between May 19 and June 30, 2026.
  • Milan Reservation: For the upcoming MILAN model, a $1 deposit starting May 26 will unlock a future $100 discount.
