Google Introduces Nano Banana Pro, a Major Upgrade to Its Gemini-Powered Image Tools

Google is expanding its creative toolkit with Nano Banana Pro, the next-generation image model built on Gemini 3 Pro. The new system pushes further into advanced visual generation, reasoning-supported design, and higher-fidelity editing. Nano Banana Pro follows the earlier Nano Banana release from a few months ago, which introduced an approachable set of image-editing features for casual creators. The Pro version takes that foundation and extends it in ways aimed at students, designers, advertisers, and anyone working with complex visual ideas.

Context-Rich Visuals With Better Reasoning

Nano Banana Pro leans heavily on Gemini 3 Pro’s reasoning capabilities. Instead of producing visuals that simply look appealing, the model can generate images grounded in real-world knowledge and up-to-date information. This includes educational explainers, structured diagrams, step-by-step recipe visuals, and infographics that incorporate accurate details.

Google highlights examples such as a plant-care guide, a chai-making walkthrough, and real-time weather graphics produced through Search grounding. The model can translate provided content into visual formats and even pull verified info when needed. For users who often assemble quick learning aids or presentation graphics, this adds a layer of utility that goes beyond aesthetic output.

More Accurate Text Rendering Across Multiple Languages

One of the more notable improvements is text handling inside images. Nano Banana Pro aims to deliver sharper, more reliable text across posters, mockups, logos, and other design pieces. It supports longer passages, varied type treatments, and multilingual output. Google shows examples ranging from editorial-style typography to localized packaging designs and expressive logo concepts that visually reflect the meaning of each word.

Text often trips up image models, so the ability to keep characters and formatting clean gives creators more confidence when producing social graphics, product concepts, and campaign materials.

Higher Consistency and Multi-Input Composition

Nano Banana Pro brings new capabilities for designers working with multiple inputs. The model can blend up to 14 images in a single output and maintain consistent appearance across as many as five people. This covers tasks like merging a sketch and a product reference into a finished rendering, adapting blueprints into near-photorealistic concepts, or arranging multiple subjects into a cohesive lifestyle or editorial scene.

A colorful building facade in Berlin featuring oversized letters spelling 'BERLIN' in various bold colors.
A comparison image showing a fox in a snowy forest. The left side displays the input image with soft pink lighting, while the right side features the output image rendered in a dark, blue atmosphere with snowflakes.

Examples include cinematic living-room shots filled with plush characters, combined fashion and environment images, and intricate composites drawn from several reference elements. These improvements help bridge early concepts and finished ideas without requiring multiple editing passes.

Advanced Creative Controls for Refined Editing

Users gain more precise control over camera angles, lighting, color grading, and focal depth. Nano Banana Pro can adjust lighting to create specific moods, shift a daytime image into a night scene, tighten focus on foreground details, or change aspect ratios for different platforms. Localized edits allow fine-tuning without regenerating the entire image.

With support for 2K and 4K outputs plus flexible aspect ratios, the model supports everything from social feeds to print-ready material.

Where Nano Banana Pro Is Available

An astronaut stands on a beach at sunset, beside a strange, glowing object, with a spacecraft visible in the background. The scene is visually rich with a vibrant orange sun setting over the ocean, showcasing a mix of futuristic and natural elements.

Google is rolling out Nano Banana Pro across several products:

  • Consumers and students: Available in the Gemini app under “Create images” when using the Thinking model. Free users get limited Pro-tier quotas before switching back to the original Nano Banana. Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers receive expanded usage.
  • Search: AI Mode users in the U.S. with Google AI Pro or Ultra gain access.
  • NotebookLM: Rolling out globally for subscribers.
  • Professionals: Google Ads is moving to Nano Banana Pro for upgraded creative tools. It is also arriving in Google Slides and Google Vids for Workspace customers.
  • Developers and enterprise: Rolling out in the Gemini API, Google AI Studio, Google Antigravity, and soon in Gemini Enterprise and Vertex AI.
  • Creatives: Google AI Ultra subscribers using Flow, the company’s AI filmmaking tool, gain access to the new model for more precise frame-level control.

SynthID Verification and Watermarking

Google is expanding its SynthID digital watermark system, which identifies AI-generated media in a tamper-resistant way. Users can now upload an image into the Gemini app and ask whether it was created with Google’s tools. The company plans to extend this verification capability to audio and video.

Visible watermarking continues for free and Google AI Pro tier users. Google AI Ultra subscribers and users working in Google AI Studio will receive unwatermarked outputs intended for professional use.
