Formovie Technology has rolled out its latest tech toy, the Formovie Cinema Edge. This ultra-short throw (UST) projector combines sharp 4K resolution with Google TV and built-in Netflix support, which means you can dive straight into your favorite shows without the annoying ritual of hunting for remotes or extra devices. At $2,199 during pre-orders, it aims to bring a cinematic experience to your living room, minus the overpriced popcorn.
The projector delivers a 150-inch display, with color reproduction that’s good enough to make the folks at Rec. 709 nod in approval. It’s powered by ALPD technology from Appotronics, a company that knows its stuff when it comes to high-quality visuals—after all, they’re the brains behind what’s lighting up cinema screens around the world. So yes, you’re essentially bringing a piece of the theater home, but with far more comfortable seating and a pause button.
Formovie didn’t skimp on the audio side either. With Dolby Audio and DTS-X technology, your favorite explosions and dramatic monologues will sound as good as they look. And with a noise level that maxes out at 32dB, you won’t have to deal with that annoying whirring sound that some projectors love to serenade you with.

This projector’s refresh rate clocks in at 60Hz, so whether you’re watching action flicks or high-speed sports, the motion stays smooth. The Formovie Cinema Edge has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, so it’s got enough horsepower to run your streaming apps without breaking a sweat. Wi-Fi 6 support is included, keeping your streaming uninterrupted—even when your neighbor’s Wi-Fi decides to take a nosedive.
Connectivity won’t be an issue with three HDMI 2.1 ports (with eARC support) and two USB 2.0 ports for those who can’t resist plugging in extra gadgets. If space is a concern, the projector’s 0.23:1 throw ratio can pull off a 100-inch image from just 9 inches away. Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation (MEMC) technology steps in to prevent any visual hiccups during fast-paced scenes, so you can keep up with your favorite car chases without losing clarity.
For the eye-conscious (which should be all of us), this projector includes eye protection settings to help minimize strain, making it easier to binge-watch comfortably. On top of that, users can even add a personal touch by setting their own photos as screensavers—though whether you want to stare at your vacation pics every time you turn on your projector is up to you.
The Formovie Cinema Edge officially hits the market on September 10, 2024, with a retail price of $2,499. Early birds can grab it for $2,199 during the pre-order period. It’s available in North America, Europe, Oceania, and selected parts of Asia. For more information, or to place an order, head over to Formovie’s official website.
