HTC officially announced the Explorer, an entry-level Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread phone with HTC Sense 3.5, targeted at first-time smartphone buyers. Hardware included a 3.2-inch HVGA (320×480) display, a 600MHz processor, 512MB RAM, and a 3.0-megapixel camera. A fourth quarter overseas release was planned with no US availability confirmed.
Color options included Metallic Black, Active Black, and Metallic Navy as standard, with optional swappable back covers in Metallic Blue, Metallic Orange, Metallic White, and Metallic Purple.
