BYOK Brings Distraction-Free Writing to the Masses (And It’s Already a Hit)

BYOK Brings Distraction-Free Writing to the Masses (And It’s Already a Hit)

BYOK, the latest gadget for writers who prefer a focused, distraction-free writing experience, has officially launched. The product, which stands for “Bring Your Own Keyboard,” is designed to let writers work with their favorite keyboard while avoiding the distractions that plague most digital devices. And here’s the kicker—the crowdfunding campaign is already successful with months left to go.

Pick Your Keyboard, Any Keyboard

BYOK lives up to its name. You can connect pretty much any keyboard you want, whether it’s a sleek Bluetooth model or an old-school USB keyboard. The BYOK is all about letting you type on what you love. There’s no need to deal with clunky, built-in keyboards. And yes, even that vintage mechanical keyboard you’ve been holding onto can be put to use here, with a simple USB adapter.

Portable and Ready to Travel

The BYOK is so portable that it makes your phone look like it’s been bulking up for the winter. At 164.9mm by 79.6mm, it fits easily in your bag (or large pocket), making it perfect for writing on the go. And with up to 20 hours of battery life, you won’t be scrambling for an outlet during your next writing marathon. Even at its brightest backlight setting, you still get 5 hours of juice—perfect for late-night inspiration or dark coffee shops.

Sync It, Store It, Forget About It (Until You Need It)

BYOK keeps your work safe and easily accessible. Whether you prefer syncing via Wi-Fi to platforms like Google Drive or connecting directly to your computer through the USB-C port, it’s got you covered. With 16MB of storage, BYOK can hold more words than even the most prolific writer would know what to do with. We’re talking over a million words, so don’t worry about running out of space mid-novel.

Simple, Yet Clever Design

The monochrome LCD screen is easy on the eyes and refreshes quickly, so there’s no lag when you’re typing away. With adjustable font sizes and the ability to display six lines of text at once, it keeps things simple while being functional. And for anyone who’s ever found themselves slumping over their keyboard, BYOK’s built-in magnet lets you attach it to a magnetic stand, bringing your screen up to eye level and saving you from hunchback status.

Available in black or white, BYOK has that minimalistic design that fits right in with any setup. And there’s talk of a third color being added as a stretch goal, so keep an eye out.

The Inspiration Behind BYOK

Niklas Sjolinder, the brains behind BYOK, knows the struggle of trying to write in a world full of distractions. “Endless tabs, notifications, and quick YouTube videos make it hard to focus while writing. When I first used a distraction-free writing device, I loved it but soon noticed issues like high costs, poor performance, and limiting features (i.e. built-in keyboards). And that’s when the idea for BYOK (Bring Your Own Keyboard) came to me. I set on a mission to create a new writing tool—one that’s not only affordable but also offers flexibility and convenience, all without distractions.”

With a blend of practicality, portability, and freedom of choice, BYOK is already winning over writers. If you’re tired of notifications and cat videos interrupting your workflow, this little gadget might be just what you need to get back to basics—keyboard and screen, no frills.
