BenQ Unveils New Premium 4K Laser Home Theater Projector

BenQ has introduced a new premium 4K laser projector in its home theatre projector lineup. The BenQ W5800 is designed to deliver a cinema theater-like experience with out-of-the-box color accuracy. BenQ is a well-established brand in the projectors domain and its new premium model brings an impressive array of advanced features which sets the bar at this price point.

Starting at $5,999/£4,599, the BenQ W5800 is now available in the US, UK, and European markets via BenQ’s official website and other authorized retailers.

BenQ W5800 boasts a true 4K UHD resolution with high dynamic range video support. The laser array light source with a 20,000-hour lifetime delivers an impressive 2,600 lumens brightness, making it suitable in every light condition. The 3840 x 2160 resolution ensures stunning, crisp, sharp, and detailed images at up to 200-inches screen. The 100% DCI-P3 color space enhances color accuracy and produces precise colors to perfectly preserve what the directors envisioned.

The W5800’s HDR capabilities surpass all projectors, particularly at this price point. BenQ integrated a signature HDR Tone Mapping system in its premium projector that is designed to optimize an HDR feed’s contrast and detail to the projector’s capabilities. It also has HDR10+, HDR, basic HDR10+, and HLG formats support which ensures vivid and accurate color reproduction.

The Projector has 11 levels of color temperature tuning that finely adjusts mid-tone colors. Furthermore, there is a dedicated Filmmaker Mode that seeks to deliver movies exactly as the director intended. It supports 24P playback that accepts high-definition sources at 24 fps without judder in HDR mode to preserve the purity of the original picture.

The Projector is ISF certified which means you will get to see further enhancements in image and color performance customization, providing preset day and night modes as per your environment conditions.

BenQ incorporated a 14-element 7-group all-glass lens which enhances 4k image quality while minimizing color differences. As for connectivity, the W5800 has a bunch of connectivity options including two USB type A ports, HDMI 2.0b, SPDIF, and eARC, ensuring seamless integration with various systems such as 7.1 channel and Dolby Atmos audio setups.

BenQ claims its dynamic black system delivers 20% more contrast and automatically adjusts the laser projector’s light output to suit the media content. There are no integrated speakers in the W5800 which is a shame. A projector that costs around $6000 also doesn’t have an integrated smart streaming system. This is very disappointing, even the entry-level $300 projectors come with these features.
