PuroQuiet Plus Review – Solid ANC headphones for kids

Volume-limited headphones with sturdy build quality, easy-to-use controls, ANC support, and much more

Puro Sound Labs has recently launched its newest addition to their volume-limited headphones lineup, the PuroQuiet Plus. As a successor to the original PuroQuiet, it features high-quality sound drivers, support for active noise cancellation, an improved battery life, among other enhancements.

The brand is well-known for its volume-limited headphones, and I’ve had the chance to use the PuroQuiet Plus headphones for a week. During this time, I subjected the second generation of PuroQuiet Plus wireless headphones to rigorous testing to gauge the capabilities of these devices.

After using the PuroQuiet Plus headphones for a week, I’ve gathered some insightful observations about them. Let’s delve into whether they justify their price tag or if exploring other options might be more beneficial.

Price and AvailabilityĀ

Priced at $139.99, the PuroQuiet Plus headphones are available for purchase on Puro’s official website and Amazon. They come in six colors: Black, Purple, Pink, Teal, Blue, and Red.

Unboxing

PuroQuiet Plus Pros

  • Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) support
  • High sound quality
  • Multipoint support
  • Can connect both wirelessly and via a wired connection
  • Sturdy build quality
  • User-friendly controls
  • Volume limited to 85dB

Cons

  • Lack of custom EQ settings
  • Uncomfortable fit for those with larger headsĀ

Design and Build

Puro Sound Labs has maintained the original PuroQuiet headphones’ design for this successor. The on-ear design is comfortable and lightweight. However, the earcups may not fully encompass an adult’s ears, though they fit well around a child’s ears. This design choice reflects the headphones’ intended audience—children.

The headphones’ adjustable headband and cushioned ear pads are crafted from durable materials, ensuring comfort throughout the day. The matte black finish and overall aesthetics are both clean and elegant, contributing to this product being one of the most visually appealing in Puro Sound Labs’ portfolio. The build quality is impressive, offering a sturdy and premium feel, with the ear pad materials justifying the price point.

Extended listening sessions did not result in any discomfort, thanks to the leatherette padding and adjustable headband, which distribute weight evenly and ensure a comfortable fit without applying excessive pressure.

In the box, the headphones come with a range of accessories, including charging cables, a daisy chain, a 3.5mm audio cable, and a premium leather case for easy transport.

PerformanceĀ

The headphones’ controls are straightforward, enabling easy activation, deactivation, and seamless Bluetooth connection to smartphones. The 40mm custom dynamic sound drivers fine-tune the audio for an enhanced listening experience.

Throughout my week of use, the audio quality was remarkable. The bass was deep, with decent mids and lows, and the vocals were clear, thanks to the custom sound drivers. A significant advantage is the ability to use the headphones in both Bluetooth and wired modes, offering flexibility in usage without battery concerns.

The active noise cancellation effectively eliminates surrounding noise, allowing for an uninterrupted listening experience. Although designed with a volume limit of 85dB for children’s safety, the volume can reach up to 92dB when using the supplied 3.5mm cable, but it adheres to the 85dB limit over Bluetooth, aligning with the company’s claims.

ControlsĀ

The PuroQuiet Plus headphones feature intuitive controls located at the back of the left and right earcups, making them easily accessible. The left earcup houses an ANC toggle for quick on/off switching, while the right earcup includes power, Bluetooth, and volume controls. The Bluetooth button also serves to start and pause playback, though there is no dedicated button for track skipping.

Located at the base of the left earcup is a 3.5mm headphone jack, accompanied by a small LED indicator for ANC status. Similarly, the right earcup houses a micro-USB Type C port, an LED indicator, and a microphone at its bottom.

Throughout my testing, I found the controls to be conveniently accessible and experienced no issues or challenges in their use.

Battery Life

Battery life is crucial for wireless headphones, and the PuroQuiet Plus excels in this aspect. Puro advertises 23 hours of battery life with ANC enabled and 35 hours without.

During practical tests, the headphones lasted approximately 48 hours without ANC and 28 hours with it activated. It’s important to note that battery performance can vary based on usage patterns. In my case, activities primarily included listening to music, taking calls, and watching YouTube and anime series, indicating that heavy users may experience different battery durations.

Final Thoughts

The PuroQuiet Plus headphones excel in nearly every aspect, boasting a wide array of features, superior sound quality, and affordability. Puro Sound Labs has crafted an exceptional product, positioning these headphones among the best for children by prioritizing hearing protection. They are user-friendly and enjoyable to use.

For those seeking durable headphones for kids that provide long battery life, outstanding ANC, a safe volume limit of 85dB, and competitive pricing, the PuroQuiet Plus headphones are a standout option, priced starting at just $139.99.Ā
