Klipsch T5 True Wireless Earphones review

Up for review today are the T5 True Wireless Earphones from Klipsch. Priced about $80, you can get your hands on them today. How do they sound? Are they comfortable? Read on to learn what we thought about these budget-friendly earphones.

Design

Without a doubt, the Klipsch T5 True Wireless headphones have the most premium case I’ve ever seen or used. The brushed metal Zippo inspired case exudes quality, but the downside is, that it’s also the heaviest headphone case I’ve ever used.

Besides its Zippo styling, some other key characteristics of the case include, a USB-C charging port and three LEDs on the front that display the battery level of the case.

Unlike every other headphone case I’ve used, the Klipsch T5 True Wireless allows you to place the left and right earbud in either charging slot. At first, I thought this would be helpful, however, after using it for several weeks, I found it to be a nuisance. It turns out, you cannot easily tell which bud is the left or right, and if you happen to be in a room that is not well lit, you can easily mix them up and put the buds in the wrong ears.

The buds are also held in place with a weak magnet, and a good shake is all it takes to send one or both flying out of the case. That’s unfortunate, because true wireless buds are already easy enough to lose due to their small size.

The stems on the earbuds are thin and quite long, so much so, they made me feel like I had Shrek ears while wearing them. Fortunately, they are lightweight and the long stem prevents the larger parts of the earbuds from resting on your ears which can lead to quicker ear fatigue.

Fit and Comfort

Klipsch uses patented oval ear tips with its in-ear headphones that I’ve always found extremely comfortable. Not only does the shape make for a fantastic fit, but Klipsch also includes extra-small ear tips, perfect for people like me. If you have smaller than average ear canals, these are a godsend.

Even though the T5 True Wireless has lightweight comfortable earbuds, they don’t offer the most secure fit. For the most part, I found they stayed in place, however, once you start moving around, there is a real danger of them falling out.

User Experience

The Klipsch T5 True Wireless makes use of physical buttons on each earbud. The buttons work perfectly, except for the fact that it’s easy to press them by mistake if you need to push the buds back into your ear while using them.

I also ran into an issue where nearly every single time I put the T5 True Wireless buds into my ears, I would get a notification on my phone that the left bud wanted to pair. The buds also didn’t seem to want to pair unless I specifically removed the right bud first. If I removed the left bud first, I would have to go into the Bluetooth menu and manually connect to the right earbud to start using them.

App

For nearly a year Klipsch has been promising an app for its T5 lineup of headphones which would provide users a way to adjust the EQ settings, monitor battery levels, and update the firmware. I was delighted to see that the app finally hit the Play Store earlier this spring, and the T5 True Wireless was my first opportunity to experience it.

Unfortunately, my experience with the app was not a pleasant one. While the app itself seems to work fine, you won’t be able to use it until you have upgraded the firmware of the T5 True Wireless headphones. That is where the trouble begins.

Earlier this year, I wrote that upgrading the 1More Stylish True Wireless Earbuds was the most frustrating update experiences I’ve ever gone through. The Klipsch T5 True Wireless headphones have now taken that crown, and I’m not the only one who thinks that. All you have to do is look at the stunningly low 1.4 rating the Klipsch Connect app has on the Play Store to see report after report of users having issues with updating the firmware.

To its credit, Klipsch provides step by step instructions in the app on how to update the firmware of each individual bud. However, the instructions mean nothing when they don’t actually work. I’m still not sure how exactly I was able to get both of my earbuds updated. It took me a little over an hour of experimenting with resetting the buds, unpairing, and pairing them back with the phone over and over–until finally, something magical happened and the left bud connected and updated.

The worst part is, you can’t use the app until you’ve registered and updated the earbuds. Once I got through the horrendous update procedure, the app worked fine. I was able to monitor the battery level of each bud, but to my disappointment, it did not show how much battery life was left in the case. The Klipsch Connect app also allowed me to adjust the equalizer of the earbuds, something I’ve been dreaming of for a long time with Klipsch headphones.

Sound Quality

Klipsch headphones have always offered a flat sound that emphasized the highs more than anything for a bright sound signature. For users who prefer a neutral sound, that’s perfect. If you’re more like me, and you enjoy some more oomph in the low-end for your listening pleasure, then Klipsch buds can leave you wanting.

That’s why I was so excited about the introduction of the Klipsch Connect app. I was finally able to tweak the EQ and add give the bass some more priority. While it made the T5 True Wireless sound much better for my personal preference, the low-end and sub-bass are still a bit lacking. For most users, this will be entirely fine, but if you’re a bass head then you’ll want to look elsewhere.

Battery Life

Klipsch claims the T5 True Wireless provides you with eight hours of battery life from a single charge and up to 24 hours with the charging case. In my experience, they live up to this claim. I was able to listen to music consecutively for hours and topping them off with the case ensured I didn’t have to worry about charging for days at a time.

Final Thoughts

The T5 True Wireless headphones have combined premium materials and design with Klipsch’s legendary sound quality. However, a couple of technical issues makes them just short of perfect. Regardless, if you can get past these little glitches, the T5 True Wireless Earbuds offer fantastic battery life, great sound, and a case like no other wireless earbuds on the market.

Recently, they have dropped down to an all-time low of $78 on Amazon, making these headphones a steal. Just remember, if you choose to use the app, you’re going to have to endure one of the most excruciating update processes ever devised.

0

With mobile applications becoming popular day by day, brands are facing the challenge of fulfilling the dynamic demands of the customer and availing the finished product as quickly as possible. Hence the developer and QA teams are looking for technological solutions which are faster, qualitative and convenient. As a result high end technologies like agile, continuous integration and mobile devops are being implemented for mobile applications development. Agile SDLC provides the flexibility to make modular or code changes at any point of time, while continuous integration and mobile devops empower the app development by providing ready to deploy codes at the drop of the hat.

Having a continuous testing platform which works on continuous integration and mobile devops environment is the need of the hour but an idol platform will be the one which is dynamic to customers requirements and develops features to make their testing life simpler and easy. pCloudy is a comprehensive continuous testing platform which consists of multiple features to make testing simpler. In this blog we will review pCloudy as a comprehensive testing platform for both mobile and web applications and explore its features which provides a holistic solution for mobile and web application testing.

About pCloudy

pCloudy is a cloud based continuous testing platform for testing mobile and desktop web applications. It consists of more than 5000 device browser combinations for testing mobile applications which enables cross browser compatibility for all the mobile devices available in the target market. It ensures high speed mobile application testing by enabling continuous testing. It supports multiple integrations like Appium, Jenkins, Jisra, Github, Slack etc to ensure a systematic ci/cd pipeline. It supports integration of AI based futuristic tools like Opkey to enable codeless automation testing. It consists of an independent platform called browser cloud for testing desktop web applications consisting of multiple device browser combinations to support compatibility for various devices in the market. One of the greatest advantages of pCloudy is that being a virtual cloud platform it can be used from anywhere and is accessible for 24/7, also it eliminates the high cost of constructing physical labs.

Before exploring the comprehensive features of pCloudy let’s discuss how pCloudy provides efficient manual and automation testing results.

Manual testing

In pCloudy you can perform functional and non functional testing of mobile applications parallely on various real time mobile devices simultaneously. You can perform testing of both IOS and Android mobile applications. You can get a detailed analytical report of testing as you get a wide variety of statistics like session video, device logs, screenshots, data usage, memory usage, CPU usage, battery consumption and frame rendering count.Testing of applications in real mobile devices will provide accurate results. Parallel testing provides a large testing coverage and also increases the speed of test by multiple folds.

Automation testing

However systematic your ci/cd pipeline is, you cannot expect efficient results without good automation testing tools and frameworks .pCloudy supports multiple automation tools and frameworks like Appium, Robotilum, Calabash, Espresso etc to increase the performance and quality. A good set of Automation tools and frameworks also produce good continuous testing results. In pCloudy you can perform parallel testing of an application on multiple devices which increases the speed and quality of app testing by multiple folds.

Executing automation test cycles is very simple and easy in pCloudy, also being a cloud based platform you can carry it anywhere and access it for 24/7. This was a brief on how to perform automation testing in pCloudy.

Now let’s explore the latest features of pCloudy to understand their contribution in making testing seamless and easy in pCloudy

Browser Cloud

Browser cloud is one of the giant features in pCloudy responsible for desktop web application testing. It is basically a cloud of laptops in which you can perform parallel testing of web applications on multiple real devices simultaneously. It consists of multiple device browser combinations to assure the 100% compatibility of application under test against multiple devices in the target market.

Wildnet

Wildnet is a feature that enables our users to test their internal or private server in any Android or IOS device present in pCloudy. Generally all brands are very skeptical to test their internal or private servers for security reasons and hence require a staging server to perform testing which is very time and cost consuming. Wildnet provides a security shield between your internal server and the devices in the pCloudy, thus eliminating the cost required in setting up a staging platform.

Object Spy

This feature makes the automation testing very simple by extracting the object names directly from the pCloudy device and runs inspector sessions, instead of extracting from the Appium desktop.

QR code/barcode scanner

QR code scanners are used by 90% of brands for scanning qr codes for product or user identification, the QR code scanner in pCloudy helps the user to scan any barcode or a QR code on any Android device present in pCloudy.

Capability Configurator

The capability configurator simplifies the testing task by automatically providing the required information while filtering. While creating automation test scripts you require certain capabilities like device name, platform version, test cycles, test suites, time to run the single device etc. to execute the test cases. Capability filter enables to generate the desired capabilities directly using certain filters.

Data Persistent

This feature helps the pCloudy admins in data maintenance by enabling them to delete all the older reports based on some settings. Here the user is notified well in advance before deleting any files.

App Language Change

This feature helps the users from overseas to use pCloudy in their native language. They can change the language of the installed application by using the “App Language Change” in their native language.

Conclusion

A comprehensive platform having features to make testing faster, qualitative and simpler is the need of the hour and pCloudy is one of its kind platform which has been on the go in delivering innovative features for making testing simpler than ever. Hence pCloudy is highly recommended if you are looking for a mobile application testing platform which is dynamic and delivers high performance mobile applications.

Google announces $699 Pixel 5 for October 29

0

Google on Wednesday announced its latest phones as part of an Launch Night In virtual press event. As expected, the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) made its formal debut.

On paper, and perhaps in practice, the Pixel 5 doesn’t exactly leap forward from its predecessor so much as take a small step. And while that might anger enthusiasts or more demanding users, it still puts forth a more than sufficient overall package. And all of that hinges on just looking at hardware from a bullet-point comparison.

One of the more notable hardware features is, of course, the support for 5G. Carriers are continuing to build and expand their 5G networks so it may not matter to some users today. With that in mind, it’s Google’s first “flagship” phone equipped for the next-gen data speeds and capabilities.

Two pain points for us in the Pixel 4 are addressed in the Pixel 5 with those being a lack of fingerprint reader and ultrawide camera. Google has included both a rear fingerprint sensor and swapped out the telephoto camera with an ultrawide one.

Pixel 5 Features

  • 6-inch 2340 x 1080 display with Gorilla Glass 6, 90Hz refresh rate
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor
  • 8GB RAM
  • 128GB storage
  • Rear 12.2-megapixel camera
  • Rear 16-megapixel ultrawide camera
  • Front-facing 8-megapixel camera with 83-degree field of view
  • IP68 water and dust resistant
  • 4,080mAh battery with wireless and reverse charging

Software Features

Looking beyond the hardware, the Pixel 5 is bolstered by some really great software. Key among the features here are HD screen sharing in Google Duo, an enhanced Recorder app, and a preview of a new Hold for Me service.

Launching with Android 11, the Pixel 5 will receive two years of major software updates and three years of security updates.

Then there’s the camera experience. The Pixel 5 gains a software feature called Cinematic Pan, Night Sight in Portrait Mode, Portrait Light, and an improved Google Photos editing tool.

It doesn’t stop there; the Google Pixel 5 comes with three months of Stadia and YouTube Premium, three months of 100GB of Google One storage, and Google Play Pass and Gold/Silver Status on Play Points.

Availability

Customers interested in getting their hands on the new Pixel 5 will have to wait until October 29. With that said pre-orders begin immediately at the Google Store.

As for wireless service providers who will offer the Google Pixel 5, Google did not make any announcements. Look for carriers to issue their own statements if and when they’re ready.

Choose from color options that include Just Black and Sorta Sage.

Google refreshes Pixel 4a with a 5G variant

0

Google may have been a few months delayed in announcing its 4a smartphone but that surely won’t keep it from dragging its feet from additional devices. Indeed, it is back with new phones equipped with 5G support — the Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5.

The Pixel 4a (5G) builds on the recently introduced 4a, but gives it more than just 5G connectivity. It packs a bigger display, bigger battery, and improved camera experience.

READ: Google Pixel 4a review

Launching with Android 11, the handset will receive two years of major software updates and three years of security updates.

Pixel 4a 5G Features

  • 6.2-inch 2340 x 1080 display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor
  • 6GB RAM
  • 128GB storage
  • Rear 12.2-megapixel camera
  • Rear 16-megapixel wide-angle camera with 107-degree field of view
  • Front-facing 8-megapixel camera with 83-degree field of view
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • 3,885mAh battery
  • Soft touch polycarbonate material
  • $499 starting price

Although it’s very common to quickly want to compare devices by bullet points and head-to-head matchups, there’s a lot more going on here. The Pixel 4a (5G) is loaded with quite the software experience.

Key among the features here are HD screen sharing in Google Duo, an enhanced Recorder app, and a preview of a new Hold for Me service.

Then there’s the camera experience. The Pixel 4a (5G) gains an ultrawide lens, a software feature called Cinematic Pan, Night Sight in Portrait Mode, Portrait Light, and an improved Google Photos editing tool.

It doesn’t stop there; the phone comes with three months of Stadia and YouTube Premium, three months of 100GB of Google One storage, and Google Play Pass and Gold/Silver Status on Play Points.

Availability

The Pixel 4a (5G) will be available in Japan starting on October 15 and will arrive in eight other countries starting in November. Expecting to see the phone are Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and United States.

Verizon announced it will also offer the Pixel 4a (5G) starting on November 19. Its version is called the Google Pixel 4a 5G UW and will include support for the carrier’s 5G Ultra Wideband network.

Pre-orders for the phone commence October 29; the carrier will have an exclusive on the Clearly White color. Pricing is $100 more expensive, though. Subscribers can get the handset for $24.99 a month for 24 months ($599.99 retail price).

Microsoft looks to dominate cloud-gaming with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

0

Remember some years ago when Microsoft got completely taken apart for wanting to release an Xbox that had to have constant internet access and wouldn’t have a disc tray? Fast forward to 2020, the year of the alien invasion. Ok maybe that hasn’t happened, but at this point would it really surprise anyone?

While both Microsoft and Sony have announced a disk tray-less version of their next gen consoles, Microsoft has just taken a very commanding lead with the launch of Cloud Gaming on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. It has over 150 titles available on the cloud. If you’re already a member, you don’t have to pay extra for cloud gaming, you just get it.

How does it work?

To put it very basically, all your games are saved on the internet. What that means is while you technically won’t “own” the game you will have access to it anywhere you go with a decent internet connection. No, you don’t have to take your console or even your laptop with you. As long as you have an Android phone/tablet you’re in the game. Could you imagine playing on your brand new Galaxy Fold 2?

What’s even better is, say you start a Gears 5 on your Xbox console at home, but have to go to Grandma’s (or in-laws). Grab your phone or tablet before you leave and you’ll be able to pick up right where you left off. Isn’t technology great?

Pricing

This is all fantastic but it doesn’t really matter too much if it costs $100 every month. While that may be worth it for some, thankfully Microsoft didn’t go that route. If you’re a new member you can get your first month for only $1! That’s right, you could get your first month for the loose change you find in Grandma’s couch. Unless it’s covered in plastic. If you’ve already been a member you’ll still only have to shell out $15 per month to get your game on.

What about the games?

None of this really matters if the games are horrible. While you might have to weed your way through a handful of games you don’t care about, you can find some real good titles in the mix. This list isn’t exhaustive, but the ones that stand out to me.

  • ARK: Survival Evolved
  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Battletoads
  • Crackdown 3: Campaign
  • Darksiders III
  • Dead by Daylight
  • Forza Horizon 4
  • Gears of War 1, 4, and 5
  • Guacamelee! 2
  • Mortal Kombat X (not available in Korea)
  • Streets of Rage 4

There are a ton more, you can find the full list here. One last thing, you don’t even need to own an Xbox console to take advantage of Game Pass Ultimate. As long as you have a compatible controller paired with an Android phone/tablet or a PC. This has got to be one of the best values in gaming at the moment.

Will you be getting Xbox Game Pass Ultimate? If so, what game(s) are you looking forward to playing? Sound off in the comments!

How to change your wallpaper on Android 10 in a few easy steps

0

Your phone wallpaper is something you’re going to look at almost daily. Why not make it look as good as you can?

As an age-old feature in Android devices, you should know how to change your wallpaper. Whether it’s something you found online, a favorite picture you’ve taken, or something else, you can make it your background.

Find out how to change your wallpaper on Android 10 in a few simple steps.

How to change your wallpaper on Android 10

Due to the massive variety in Android devices, the steps may vary from one device to the next, but it ultimately comes down to the following three fundamental techniques.

The following methods were tested on a OnePlus 7T. Your mileage may vary depending on the OEM of your phone.

First method: Long press the home screen

This is the super simple manner that works for a majority of devices. Like the heading says, all you have to do is long-press an empty space on the home screen.

You might see options for Wallpapers, Widgets, and Home Settings. Choose Wallpaper.

Next, you will have to navigate to which screen you’re looking to apply a new wallpaper to. In the case of OnePlus (used here), you can swipe left or right on the top half of the screen to determine if you’re on the lock screen (A lock icon at the top) or the home screen (where your apps will be showing).

Based on this, you will have to select which one you wish to change first.

From here, you have the option of browsing a variety of options. If you continue swiping to the right on the bottom, most phones come with preset wallpapers for you to use and choose from.

Once you have an image you like, select Set Wallpaper at the top right of your screen to save the change.

Swiping to the left in most cases will let you choose pictures from the gallery, or a gallery of shots captured by the respective community.

At the end, whichever course you choose, you can easily apply the wallpaper and use it immediately.

Here’s a video of what it all looks like once you get the hang of it.

Second method: Through the phone settings

If you’re unable to adjust your wallpaper through a long press, you will have to venture into the phone settings. Over here, look for anything that has the words “Display, Background, Wallpaper, Customization”.

Most Android 10 versions have implemented search in the settings. If you can’t find it on your own, you can use the search function to make it easier.

Third method: Third-Party Apps

This is another measure. If you would prefer, you can have an app do it. There is a wide variety of great wallpaper apps in the Play Store. You can take your pick, but some of my favorites are Google Wallpapers, Walli and Backdrops.

With Google Wallpapers and Backdrops, all you have to do is browse an image you like, and the app will tell you whether you want to set the image as a wallpaper for your home screen or your lock screen and apply it for you.

Walli can change your wallpaper at a specified frequency. It can change your wallpaper after a specified number of minutes, hours, or days.
