One UI 3.0 officially launches with the Galaxy S20 lineup

0

The other day, I wrote an article talking about the One UI 3 Beta and the fact that Galaxy S20 series should expect the update any day. Little did I know that Samsung was planning the rollout of One UI 3.0 the very next day.

Yes, that’s right. One UI 3 is officially out and rolling out to the Galaxy S20 series across the world. Here’s what the new update brings.

Design Upgrades

One UI 3.0 Design

One UI 3.0 brings upgrades to the design across the board. Widgets have been redesigned to provide essential information and look clean and beautiful while doing so. One UI 3 brings more focus to what matters, most notably in the quick panel. You’ll notice that the quick panel brings your devices and media to the forefront. In addition, Various motion effects and animation have been made smoother, including the Lock screen fade-out. There is also now a dim/blur effect for notifications.

Lock screen widgets have been redesigned to help control music and see important information without the need to unlock your device, in addition to the fact that your messaging notifications have been brought to the front of your screen so you can quickly and easily respond to that.

One UI 3.0 Video Call

Video calls have even seen improvements, with a complete edge to edge layout.

Customization

For those who want to change up the UI detailed above, you can do so with One UI 3.0. Whether you want to add quick toggles so you can switch to dark mode on the fly or add your most common apps to the top of your sharing dialog, there are many opportunities with One UI 3. You can also adjust the transparency of your widgets, change the clock on the AOD or lock screen, and add a video to your call screen,

New Apps in One UI 3.0

One UI 3 also brings two new apps to the table:

  • For those who want to understand more about how they use their phone, this is where digital wellbeing applications that show your screen time to allow you to make changes.
  • For those of you who want to view new content on your beautiful Samsung display, look no further than Samsung Free, a channel full of news, games, and other streaming media, accessible with a right swipe on your home screen.

If you want more information about when you’ll get One UI 3.0, view the article I mentioned at the top of this for a full release schedule.

Hulu’s new Watch Party feature let’s you stream together remotely with up to 7 friends

0

Hulu has officially announced a new Watch Party feature that allows you to watch shows and movies together with friends and family during the winter holidays while socially distancing.

Watch Party supports up to eight viewers and is available for all Hulu subscribers whether you use the ad-supported or ad-free plan. That’s great news for all of you who took advantage of the recent Black Friday deal where you got a year of Hulu with ads for $2 per month. However, it’s important to note that the Watch Party feature is limited to users 18 years or older and it doesn’t appear to be available to mobile users at this time.

To use Watch Party, look for the icon on the Details page for the title you want to watch. After clicking on it, viewers can share a link with up to seven additional Hulu subscribers and chat in real-time. Members of your Watch Party will also be able to control playback in case someone needs to take a quick bathroom break.

I’m sure you’re wondering, what happens if you have a mix of users who pay for ad-supported and ad-free Hulu in your Watch Party? At least, I know I was wondering that. In that case, Hulu will pause the video for those with the ad-free plan while ads play and resume once they have finished. That’s the perfect opportunity to chat about what you’ve just watched though.

Hulu is not the first to add a way to watch remotely with friends and family, during the COVID-19 pandemic several streaming services have added similar features, including Disney+ and Prime Video from Amazon.

ZTE launches the world’s first phone using an under-screen camera with the Axon 20 5G

0

It’s official, ZTE is the first manufacturer to bring a phone with a camera under the display to market with the Axon 20 5G. That means there is no notch, no cutout, no hole-punch, and no camera that pops up or slides out. The front of the phone is nothing but the screen and the camera works 100 percent behind the 6.92-inch display.

Furthermore, the Axon 20 5G also features a fingerprint sensor under the display and under-screen sound. Making the front of this phone all screen and nothing in between.

It’s the kind of breakthrough we’ve been waiting for since manufacturers first began shrinking the bezels years ago while still trying to find a way to squeeze a selfie camera in. There have been several solutions to the problem so far, with some resorting to a notch or cut-out, while others have incorporated mechanisms to flip or pop the camera out.

While other brands have teased us with tech demos of this technology in the past, ZTE gets to be the first to officially release a phone using it. However, being first isn’t always a good thing. The quality of under-screen cameras has yet to be fully tested and there’s no telling what kind of hit the quality of the photos might take.

Now, besides all the under-screen tech, the ZTE Axon 5G isn’t all that special. It sports the lower-end Snapdragon 765G flagship processor, 6 to 8GB of RAM, a quad-camera setup on the back, and a 4200mAh battery. All pretty standard stuff for a low to midrange flagship phone in 2020. A more detailed look at the specs is found below.

Display: 6.92-inch 2460 x 1080 OLED with 90Hz refresh rate and 10-bit color depth
Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G
RAM: 6/8GB
Storage: 128/256GB
Rear Cameras: 64MP f/1.8 main; 8MP wide-angle; 2MP macro; 2MP depth
Front Camera: 32MP under-screen
Battery: 4200mAh with 30W quick charging
OS: Android 10

The real show stopper is the 32MP under-screen camera and everyone wondering how well it’s going to work. Unfortunately, the Axon 20 5G is only launching in limited markets with the UK, European Union, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa being the first to get their hands on it beginning December 21, 2020.

At this time, the price is still up in the air, as ZTE did not announce it and says, the price will be revealed soon on the official website. If you want to be one of the first to get your hands on the Axon 20 5G then sign up for the New Vision Club to get one out of the first batch.

Five reasons why Instagram is considered to be the best mobile phone app

0

Almost everyone from every age group is on the mobile phone app, Instagram, and it has become everyone’s favorite. Instagram is basically the Facebook of the younger generation and is popularly known as IG and Insta by youngsters. It was previously owned and created by Mike Krieger and Kevin Systrom but now is owned by Facebook. You can share pictures, messages, go live and video call anyone you want.

So, what makes it any different from any of the instant messaging apps, or video calling apps that you have in the market today?

Instagram is a microblogging app and the user interface is extremely easy to understand.

Microblogging has become extremely popular and offers the users with a quick and easy method of blogging and sharing information. Instagram is visual and is heavily dependent on visual sharing of information and pictures. While Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp are platforms where users share mostly written and lengthy posts and information, when it comes to Instagram, everything, literally everything is conveyed and shared with the help of aesthetic videos and photographs. This is one of the main reasons why people dig and love Instagram as a social media platform. Blogging on Instagram is done with the help of pictures and videos, and people love the whole concept of it. Many people prefer watching beautiful and aesthetic pictures and videos, and rather not read lengthy texts. They love the whole idea of how a picture and video has a story to tell.

Instagram allows users to experiment and up their photo game.

Instagram allows people to click so many different pictures with so many different filters, different ways to click pictures, take videos, so many effects, the options are limitless. The user interface is extremely easy to understand and people get to meet and know so many different things about things all around the world. Also, not only can you experiment with your photos and videos, there is no limit to how many photos and videos you can share on your feed. You can share as many photos and videos you want, and if the quality of your content is good, there will be tons of people wanting to follow you and imitate your style, which is actually good because there are many ways to monetize your talents as well.

Instagram promotes your feed, your business and even helps you have fun through stories and by going live.

So, for many who do not know this, Instagram was the first social media app to have introduced the whole concept of stories and later on, other social media platforms like Facebook and Snapchat, copied this feature. The stories feature is actually great, because it also allows you to hide your stories from the people whom you do not want to see the story you do not want them to see and they would not even know about it, at least Instagram would not notify them that you have hidden your story from this particular individual. It also has another feature called close friends feature, and only those whom you add in the close friends list can see your story which you add under the close friends story. There is no restriction on that and people love this feature because many may have people who follow them and cannot do anything about it, it could be your annoying, overbearing colleague to your boss who follows you on your Instagram or even your family. You can be completely wild and yourself on Instagram, or more specifically on your close friends story. Coming to the promotion part, you can promote your posts by paying a certain amount of money everyday and Instagram will promote your post to the group of people you have chosen. This group of people can have a criterion of the age group, country, distance and the content they would like to see, broadening the reach of your business on Instagram to potential customers. It indirectly or directly increases your customer base and the more people who take actions against your content, like sharing it with their friends or family, or even liking it, the more people your content reaches to.

This is why Instagram is so famous and so likeable. It does not limit your options and gives you wings to fly and enjoy yourself, even if you are an entrepreneur or even a very private individual.

Instagram literally makes you feel as though you are a pro in your game, and does not limit you in doing whatever you want to do.

You do you, and that is exactly what Instagram believes in. If there are people who have a similar taste in content as yours, they will suggest your content to people very similar to what you like and what you post, and vice versa. Instagram helps you feel as though you are an expert in your feed and in what you do, and always helps you see the beauty in whatever you do. Every photograph you post, Instagram offers various options in which you cab customize your photo to be something totally and completely different, and better. It helps you make your photo a complete click bait worthy photo.

Instagram offers countless opportunities for you to go viral and a lot of users are active on Instagram.

Another reason why Instagram is so popular is that once you figure out the algorithm and use it to your benefit, you can go viral. There are chances that if your content and feed is good enough as well, you would go viral. Also, if you are starting a business or have a business that needs a marketing platform, Instagram is your best bet. Mainly because they are different kinds of users, and the age group of these users vary, but there are high chances that your content will be received by a wider range of audience on Instagram as compared to the rest of the social media platforms. Also, you can also shop on Instagram, and find various stores and brands around you. And usually, most of these stores on Instagram are cheaper and have better deals as compared to the other stores, and the quality of the product also is much better.

How to crossplay Hearthstone on Mobile with other platforms

0

Hearthstone is one of the more popular Digital Collectible Card Games currently out there, almost as popular as the king of them all, Magic: The Gathering. The game is free-to-play with lootbox-like mechanics, but it has a variety of modes that can be played with friends.

Hearthstone is available on Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows. All you need to do is download the game for your preferred platform.

Pre-requisites:

Before playing, there are only a couple of things you need to make sure of.

  1. That you and the person playing are in the same region. The game has three different regions: Americas & Southeast Asia, Europe, and Asia. You can’t play with each other if one or the other player is from a different region as your card collection is tied to a specific region.
  2. You can add each other with your Battle.net ID or by the email associated with that account. Make sure you know your Battle.net ID, its similar to your Discord username where your username will have a series of numbers following it, e.g. Username#4820
  3. Smartphone players can play against or with desktop players and vice versa, given they’re all signed in on the same region. There is no advantage of mouse or touch screen here unlike games like Fortnite, but some card animations can take a toll on your mobile or computer’s GPU and as such make your turn last longer than you intended.

Getting to the guide:

If you have got the game installed on your phone or desktop, all you have to do is install the game on another device that has another unique user logged in on it.

Hearthstones friend list lets you play with two types of players: Nearby Players and Online Friends.

Nearby players notify you if another player is in the immediate area of play, the effective range is not quantified but it should be very small, say at a wedding venue. Nearby Players saves you the trouble of adding each other as friends and directly matching against each other.

Online friends mean people you enjoy playing with, your real-life friends, or any type of social connection you have with them.

While it is unlikely or rare for you to find nearby players, the most common way to play the game is with online friends.

The first step is finding out the Battle.net ID of the other player. This will be something along the lines of UserName#1234.

If the person you’re adding is unsure of their ID, you can ask for their associated email with said ID and send a friend request through that.

Tap on the top left of the screen if you’re on a smartphone/tablet, and bottom left if you’re on a desktop.

Once they have accepted your friend request, or you have accepted theirs, you will see them in your online friend’s list and a new icon will appear to the right of their name, a small box that looks like a play button.

Tap on the Play Button and choose the game mode you wish to play.

If you can communicate with them, ask them what game mode they would prefer to play. Once you both have decided on the mode, choose it and they will receive a challenge invitation.

Once the invited player has accepted the inviting player’s challenge, the game will tell you to choose and/or build your deck accordingly.

You can also do Tavern Brawls (the weekly challenges), together, but only if they are competitive or cooperative.

Once you both have selected or made your preferred choice of decks, you both have to press the play button at the bottom right of your screens.

With that, you can now fight with each other.

If you wish to change the game mode, simply cancel the challenge, and start from inviting the other player with the play button next to their name. This starts a new lobby.

Keep in mind, playing against each other does not boost or decrease your rank. These are friendly matches against each other which won’t affect your ranking or battleground rating. As such, feel free to have fun playing against each other.

Google Photos new live wallpaper feature cycles through your Memories

0

When Google first launched its Photos app, it immediately became one of the best ways to manage the image library on your phone. Over the years, Photos has continued to grow constantly adding new and exciting features along the way.

Today, marks another one of those occasions where Google has introduced a new way to utilize the precious memories you’ve captured. Rolling out in the latest 5.22 update of the app, is a live wallpaper option that our friends over at XDA-Developers spotted.

With this new feature, Google Photos will create a live wallpaper by cycling through photos in your Memories collection. In case you didn’t know, Memories are photo collections that the Photos app has created for you by using machine learning to group images based on the places or people within them. Google introduced this feature in 2019 along with ordering local prints of your images.

Now, it seems the sentimental search giant has come up with a new useful way to utilize the albums it creates. What good are the fantastic images you’ve captured if you never get to see them? Having them front and center on your phone will allow you to stroll down memory lane each time you unlock your device.

To use the new feature, you’ll need to be running the latest 5.22 version of Google Photos. If your app hasn’t updated already, you can snag version 5.22 from APK Mirror like I did and install it manually.

After you have the latest version installed, go to the wallpaper picker on your phone and select “live wallpapers.” From there, you should see an option for Memories. Selecting it will show you a preview as it cycles through the photos in your Memories and you can set it as your wallpaper.

Unfortunately, not all my AI curated Memories photos are winners. It would be a lot better if Google gave us a little control over what albums are used for the live wallpaper. Then I wouldn’t have to see things like product photos, selfies, or dimly lit noisy photos of food.

While it’s still upsetting that Google will end support for backing up your images for free in 2021, this new feature goes to show that Photos is more than just a backup tool. Google has taken what it has learned from the images we’ve stored on its servers and continues to find useful ways to help us rediscover what we captured.

Proscenic M7 Pro LDS Robot Vacuum Cleaner review

Up for review today is a robot vacuum cleaner from Proscenic. We’ve had a number of robot vacuum cleaners pass through here and each one has its benefits. Whether it’s price, overall functions, or the ability to tie it into our smart home, there’s usually something to love. How does the Proscenic M7 Pro fare? Read on to find out.

Design

There’s not much to say in regards to the design of the Proscenic M7 Pro. If you’ve seen one robovac, you’ve pretty much seen them all. The M7 Pro uses the typical circular shape with a sensor on the top for mapping. On the underside are the wheels, main brush, two side brushes, and charging contacts.

Proscenic provides a large dustbin that’s easy to empty and includes a storage space for the cleaning brush making it easy to clean.

User Experience

My first impression of the Proscenic M7 Pro was that it is very aggressive. While roaming through the house I found it rammed into objects with more force than other robovacs I’ve used in the past. However, it wasn’t a major issue, but I did notice it had knocked objects off a side table we have, and it got stuck on top of a floor standing fan in one room that has a base 1.5-inches tall.

Alternatively, all the other robovacs I’ve used in the past, would give a gentle tap and go around the fan and other objects that the M7 Pro seemed determined to bump and push around if possible. Knowing that, you may want to follow it closely on its first run to ensure it won’t knock anything over, or rearrange your home by moving trashcans or other lightweight objects. Something else I noticed it was guilty of.

One other thing to watch out for is if you place the M7 Pro near an area with a TV. This is because our TV remote would send the signal to start cleaning whenever we turned on the TV. At first, it was confusing, then it was funny, and soon after it became annoying. Even though the M7 was not in the line of sight with the TV, somehow it still picked up the infrared signal from time to time when we used the remote.

Besides those minor issues, the Proscenic M7 Pro did a good job. Setting it up was quick and easy, I had it charged and mapping the house in no time. Afterward, I was able to dig into the app to play with some of the more advanced features such as, partitioning the house up into smaller areas, setting up restricted areas, and scheduling cleaning times.

If you’re not into scheduling your cleaning times, you can always start the M7 Pro manually using the included remote control, the app, or giving a command using Google Assistant. The last way has to be my favorite, there is something so satisfying about bossing your robovac around by voice command.

App

Overall, the Proscenic app functions fine, but it could certainly use some more polish. Most of the terms are clear enough, but you can tell that it’s been translated by someone who isn’t a native speaker. Especially when words that don’t exist in the English language such as “responsing” appear in the app.

Also, while the app offers most of the advanced functions I’ve come to love from other robovacs, I found it to be a bit clunky to use. For example, when I tried to set up some restricted areas in the app, it wouldn’t allow me to zoom in or place them flush against some walls. This made creating restricted areas more cumbersome and less precise.

Another minor criticism I had in regards to the app, was I often had issues with it refreshing automatically if I left the app or turned off my phone for a few minutes. Backing out of the live map and clicking back on the M7 Pro tile in the app was a quick and easy fix. However, I’d rather it just refresh automatically when I re-open the app.

As I said above, the app functions fine, but some improvements to the English translation and polish on the user interface would be very welcomed.

How well does it clean?

The Proscenic M7 Pro uses a high-powered motor capable of up to 2700Pa of suction power. I don’t know what any of that means, but I can tell you that running the M7 Pro resulted in filling up the dustbin with plenty of debris from my home. I was impressed by how full it would get each time we ran it through the house, even with running it a couple of times a week, it seemed to pick up more dirt and lint that I could have imagined was in our carpet. There is no doubt in my mind that the M7 Pro left the floors significantly cleaner each time it ran.

Mopping

The mopping function was less impressive, however. Like other two-in-one robovacs I’ve used, the “mopping” is more akin to dragging a damp rag over the flooring. That certainly helps get up any residual dust, but it’s not exactly what I’d call mopping.

Overall, it won’t replace mopping in the kitchen where you may get stains or grime on the floor, but it works great if all you want to do is get the dust off your hardwood floors. I have to point out though that the M7 Pro’s “Y mopping” provided some of the most even coverage I’ve ever seen and I was very impressed by that. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a way to get it to mop the entire area when using Y Mopping as it didn’t seem to adhere to the “zone cleaning” when in that mode.

Final Thoughts

While the Proscenic app could use some improvements, and the M7 Pro could be a little aggressive moving through the house, it still does its job and does it well. It keeps my floors clean, has fantastic battery life, and offers advanced features at a reasonable price.
You can pick up the Proscenic M7 Pro from Amazon or the Proscenic website with or without an auto empty station starting at $367.

How to realize your potential online

0

Many people are not aware of it, but the best way to realize your romantic potential is to go online. Dating services offer a unique method of finding and meeting people that want to date someone like you. Yet, there are also many people who are not doing everything that they should do if they are trying to be very successful online. Thus, it’s important to look at the different means through which you can realize your romantic potential by controlling how you appear to others online; we’ll show you how!

Create an attractive profile online

First things first, you have to make an attractive dating profile. Too many people don’t pay enough attention to their profile because they are too interested in finding people and messaging them. It is crucial that you take time to fill in as many parts of your profile as possible, and you must be completely truthful with the information you place on the site. You have to think about it from the perspective of your potential dates: nobody wants to receive messages from someone that has no information or a poor picture on the site. They want men and women that have many pictures and data that can be used to decide on their romantic interests. So, before you start asking anyone out on dates, it’s a good idea for you to invest time in making your profile.

A dating site is a place to meet new soulmates online

When you start dating online, you have to remember that it’s a place where many people are trying to find love, friends, and more. Other users of flirtymature.com already have a successful dating experience. Why is that important? Well, if you’re going to find your soulmate while utilizing a dating service, you have to use the proper one. When you sign up for a dating site, you have to look at the number of people on the service, the reviews that people have given the service in the past, and what kind of dates they allow you to host. Some sites are going to suit your needs better than others. Remember that you’re looking to find soulmates, but some people have very specific needs. If you’re an older person, then use a site that is geared toward people that are in your age range. Picking the correct service is the first step to a great deal of dating success.

Start online conversation

Reaching out and talking to someone can be a trying situation when you’re doing it the first time in cyberspace. Yet, the thing that you have to remember is online dating doesn’t have to come with the awkwardness and feelings of anticipation that is common with meeting someone in person. In fact, you should learn to talk to people in the following ways:

  • Introduce yourself
  • Tell them what kind of dates you’re looking to have
  • Tell your partner a little about yourself, such as your job and interests
  • Ask them a question about their lifestyle
  • Ask if they would be interested in a date

The initial introduction process online can be that simple. Then, the two of you could chat together, or you can schedule a date for the future.

Don’t put much on your first date

When you have a first date scheduled, you have to remember that you’re just trying to see if the two of you have enough in common to pursue an interest together. Don’t put too much stress on the first date, even online. Keep things simple and positive. Ask a lot of questions that are important to you, such as what kind of work they do (so you can learn their schedule), how they came to be on the site, what is happening recently in their life, and more. There are all kinds of different ways to keep things light and easy. You don’t want to get too romantic, either. You’re just feeling things out and then seeing if you want a second date!

Online dating is the key to realizing your romantic potential. There are so many different ways to be successful in love when you use a dating service. The fact remains that you have to know how to approach these early dates, though. Take it easy, let go of the stress, and focus on getting to know your partner to have the best outcomes.
