A Disney Plus price hike is coming in 2021

0

It was inevitable, and we all knew it would be coming sooner or later. Yesterday, during its investor day event, The Walt Disney Company announced a price increase is coming to the Disney+ streaming service.

Fortunately, for now, the price increase is only a dollar bringing the total from $6.99 a month to $7.99 a month in the US. In Europe, the price will increase from €7.99 to €8.99 a month. The Hulu ad-supported plan with Disney+ and ESPN+ will also see a price increase in March going up to $13.99 a month, and there will be a new bundle this time with the ad-free Hulu plan starting at $18.99 a month.

At least we can also take some solace in the fact that we’re learning about this months in advance, because the price won’t go up until March 2021. That still gives us a few months of streaming all our Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel favorites at the debut price.

Speaking of, now would be the perfect time to sign up for the annual plan and lock in that $69.99 price before it goes up, because starting in March the price will jump to $79.99 a year.

Subscribing with the yearly plan might be the smart move going forward to lock in a lower price, because as we’ve seen with other streaming networks, there’s no telling when another price hike is coming.

Along with the price increase, Disney had much more to share with its investors. For starters, in only 13 months the streaming service has racked up 86.6 million subscribers worldwide. To put that in perspective, worldwide Netflix has 195.15 million subscribers after being in the streaming game for over 10 years now.

Investor day wasn’t all about price increases and subscriber counts though. Disney also announced there are 10 Star Wars series in the works, as well as 10 Marvel series and 15 Disney/Pixar series with an additional 15 features from the two studios–including Raya and The Last Dragon coming to theaters and Disney+ Premier Access in March of 2021.

How to crossplay Brawalhalla on Mobile with other platforms

0

Brawlhalla is a free-to-play 2D Fighter Developed by Blue Mammoth Games and Published by Ubisoft. It is available on the PC, Mac, iOS, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series consoles, and Nintendo Switch. It offers cross-platform play across all platforms amongst each other.

Today we are going to take a look at how to crossplay Brawlhalla on Mobile with players on other platforms.

Pre-Requisites

The only pre-requisite on Android is Google Play Games. The game will prompt you to install it when you first launch the game on your smartphone or tablet.

Let’s get to the guide!

When you have downloaded and installed the game, wait for it to take you to the main menu.

The game doesn’t have a native friends list feature if you’re only playing with a Google Play Account. As such, the only way to play is for you and your friend(s) to be in the same region and share the respective room code.

To start, make sure you and your friend are in the same region. You can do this by tapping the Settings icon at the top right of the screen.

Select Change Region and select your preferred region with the person you’re playing with.

Now you decide whether you’re going to host the room, or the person you’re playing with.

If you are making the room:

If you intend on being the host of the room, choose the game mode you wish to play (online play, ranked, etc.).

At the top left, you will see your unique room code that also designates your region.

You can see in my instance its SEA #313590.

When you see this code, you just have to share the numeric part with whomever you are playing with.

They can join your room by going to the main menu, choosing Custom Game Room.

Then choose Join Room.

Share the numerical code with your phone which they will have to enter to enter the room. Make sure you both have set the same region from your main menu.

With that, your friend should be able to join your lobby.

Keep in mind, you will only be able to see each other once you both have chosen your fighters.

If you are joining the room:

If you are looking to join your friend, the steps are simpler.

Have your friend make the room they wish, and tell them to write the numerical combination.

Navigate to the main menu and choose Custom Game Room.

Choose Join Room.

Enter the room code your friend gives to you.

Once you both have chosen your fighters, you will see each other.

Better Google Assistant integration is now available on wired headphones

0

In the past, I’ve reviewed headphones such as the JBL Everest 710GA, Bose QuietComfort 35 II, and most recently the Beoplay H4 2nd Gen. All three of these headphones have one special feature in common, support for Google Assistant built-in.

What does that entail? For Assistant-enabled headphones, it gives quick access to the Assistant, but mainly it allows you to hear your notifications read aloud to you and reply using your voice. It’s a very convenient little feature to have on your headphones, but if you’re like me, you don’t always use Bluetooth headphones.

I have a collection of wired and wireless headphones and oftentimes I find myself using the wired pairs. On those occasions, it would be fantastic to have access to more Assistant features besides holding down the button to give commands.

The good news is, Google has been rolling out Assistant integration to wired headphones recently. If you’ve plugged in a pair within the past couple of weeks you may have already seen the pop-up asking you to set this up. However, if you’re like me, you probably dismissed this because you were more concerned with listening to music or taking a phone call at the time.

Fortunately, you can still enable the Assistant integration from Assistant settings. To do this, open the Home app on your phone, tap on your profile photo in the top right-hand corner, select Assistant settings, Devices, and scroll all the way to the bottom to find “Wired headphones.”

From here, you can toggle on “Get help from Google” and then choose which apps you want to get spoken notifications from. Finally, if you want to get more personal results, such as communicating with your calendar without unlocking your phone, you need to enable one last setting.

Head back into Assistant settings, personal results, and flip the toggle for “On headphones.” Now, when you ask for info from your calendar you won’t be forced to unlock your phone.

IBERDE Mini Projector review

0

With winter approaching and the pandemic still in full swing, many of us have been forced to stay indoors. And that means no more going to the theater to take in the latest tent pole blockbuster or indie film.

Fortunately for us, a number of films have been released direct to consumer or have been fast-tracked for home release. Moreover, streaming services are getting more competitive with films and TV shows.

While we can’t help you get back out to the real world, we can help point you in the direction of a solid stop-gap measure. That is to say, we can recommend a decent mini projector to help bring the big screen to you.

Priced just $120 at the time of writing this review, the IBERDE Mini Projector is an affordable way of projecting your favorite content on a wall, screen, or garage door.

Whether you’re plugging your PS5, NVIDIA Shield, laptop or something else into the HDMI port, you’ll be able to project an image up to 176-inches. That’s more than 14 feet when measured diagonally.

It’s not just the HDMI input either as there are other ports, too. Select from USB, a card reader, AV cables, or VGA for your source. Indeed, it’s not just for films but it can also work with your laptop for giving reports just as easily. Whatever you’d normally run out to a monitor or TV can be pushed through the IBERDE Mini Projector.

We found the IBERDE Mini Projector to be easy to set up and configure, even without the remote control. Although it does come with one, you’ll need to supply your own pair of AAA batteries. Nevertheless, the menu system and physical buttons ensure you’re still able to take it out of the box and get to projecting.

Playing around with various rooms, walls, and surfaces to project on, we found the IBERDE to be more than sufficient for minimal to moderate needs. The image is bright, clear, and crisp at 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The fan is quiet and doesn’t drown out the audio, but we would suggest plugging something in for external sound. The projector has an external output for speakers or headphones.

If you’re taking the projector with you and only plan to use it for speeches, business updates, or the occasional quiet night alone, you’ll be alright. But, get into a room with multiple people or find yourself sitting more than a few feet away from the projector and you may have a bit of difficulty.

The potential size for the projection is quite surprising and rivals more costly projectors we’ve seen. But, we also found where corners were cut. As to how much that matters to users will vary, but we’ll point a few out here.

For one, there’s no kickstand built-in or pop-out leg to adjust the height. Other projectors tend to have something that drops out on the bottom in the event you need to angle your image up. With that said, it does come with a small screw-in adapter that acts as the leg.

Along those lines, adjusting the keystone is done with a dial similar to the manual focus. And while it works just fine for pinching or pulling the horizontal image, there’s nothing to help you in the event you’re projecting from somewhere other than dead center to the wall.

We did like that the projector has a standard tripod screw on the bottom. In fact, it’s the same spot that you would screw in the leg. The projector is light enough that you can easily put it on any traditional camera tripod and adjust the vertical height.

Also worth noting, this is a 1080p image that while HD, is not 2K nor is it near the 4K stuff we’re starting to see in other projectors. Again, as to how much that matters is up to you.

Getting picky here, but we might have liked seeing a carrying pouch or protective sleeve for the unit. There’s a cap for the lens but given how portable this is, we’d appreciate being able to toss the remote and cables in a bag for travel.

With a promised 50,000 hours of life in the light source we suspect the IBERDE will outlast our needs. We’ve found it quiet, easy to use, and rather flexible, especially considering the price point.

Purchase the IBERDE Mini Projector for about $120 at Amazon where, it currently has a coupon that can take an extra 15% off at checkout. All things considered, we have no issues recommending the brand or the product.

Tech helps us find love online from China to the USA

0

The changing technology of the modern world is put to many tasks, including the lofty goal of helping people find love. As a result of the increasing desire to meet people from foreign places, more people are turning to dating sites to meet people from all over the world, including the Eastern part of it. Here are some of the ways that tech is breaking down the barriers of distance to help people get the dates they would like!

Online acquaintances are becoming the most popular way to find someone special in Asian countries

In the past, trying to find someone special in Asia when you’re from another part of the world was almost impossible. Anything short of traveling to the country you like most would likely yield basically no benefit to you. However, the fact remains that online dating was able to sweep into the situation and help connect people from different parts of the world. That is why dating online has become a very popular way to meet someone when you’re looking for an Asian romantic partner. The only thing you have to consider is which country you’d like to meet people in and whether you can communicate effectively with them due to the language barrier.

Matches online, visualization, chats bots can save your time

There are many aspects of online dating sites that will help you save a lot of time on dating. Even if you’re looking for the love of your life, you have to spend a fair amount of time on it and not become obsessed with it. That’s why so many people trust the right dating sites to help them out. Modern dating sites can take your preferences and help you meet people that have all the features you’d like to see in a romantic partner. Moreover, the dating services can help you match with individuals that are looking for the same kinds of dates as you. If you set all requirements and mark who you are looking for, the site algorithm will find you even Asian hookups. You can also count on using modern websites in other ways too. Chatbots can help you find out who you want to date and practice your pickup lines, or you can try communicating in a foreign language and learn the common parlance. It’s all happening on dating sites right now!

Dating online in Asian countries is more popular than face-to-face acquaintances

Technology has more of an impact on Asian societies than it has in other parts of the world. Two elements contribute to this. First, many Asian countries have a work culture that is downright prohibitive of their personal lives. People will constantly work 60-hour weeks and go about then be too exhausted to look for a romantic partner. Another possibility is that people in Asian countries are less willing to face the awkwardness of asking people out in person. These two factors have led to a sharp increase in the number of people who use online dating services to meet their partners. For both of these reasons, online communication is much more popular than meeting up!

Search possibilities online are endless

The greatest thing about dating online is that the possibilities are nearly endless. You can search for just about any kind of person, culture, or personality on these sites. Modern dating services are programmed to learn your preferences and can help you find people to be your friend or date with very little effort on your part. As technology continues to develop, you’ll likely have the ability to meet new people from places that were once impossible to find someone to date!

The world of online dating is transforming social interactions around the world. Nowhere is this more pronounced than in Asian countries around the world. People are finding that online dates are not only easier, but they make romances more accessible to them. With that in mind, if you’re looking to date someone from a place in Asia, your best bet is not to travel but to stay home and find a popular dating service on which you can make their acquaintance.

Google’s Look to Speak allows you to talk using only eye movements

0

Google announced a new accessibility app for Android phones yesterday called Look to Speak. As the name suggests, the app literally allows people with speech and motor impairments to speak by using their eyes.

They do this by looking left or right to quickly select words or phrases from a list presented by the app, then the phone speaks the message out loud. Furthermore, the list of words and phrases can be customized within the app allowing each person’s individual personality to shine.

Additionally, the eye gaze sensitivity can be adjusted in the app and all of your data stays “private and never leaves the phone.”

The tech behind Look to Speak is nothing new, eye gaze technology has been utilized for many years now. However, Look to Speak makes it more accessible than it ever has been before. The app is available on compatible Android 9.0 phones and above, including Android One phones.

Not only does this give people a wide range of affordable devices to choose from, but it also allows for the technology to be portable and available no matter where you go. This could open up eye gaze technology to people all over the world, many of whom may have never had the means to use other similar products.

Look to Speak is a “Start with One” project part of the “Experiments with Google” platform. These are ideas that begin by trying to help out one specific person with a need and then grow to change the lives of an entire community. You can download the Look to Speak app today on compatible Android 9.0 and above phones to give it a try.
