Anker PowerPort III and Nano review

These days you need to properly plan how to keep the things most vital to you charged. Your laptop, tablets, and smartphones all need precious, lithium-fueled power. That fuel needs stoking every so often, so folks need good charging options. Anker has two great options in this space with recent additions of its PowerPort III line.

The PowerPort line is now in the third iteration offering users a faster alternative to the charger included with their brand new devices. The new PowerPort III 2-Port 60W and the Nano continue that tradition from Anker.

Dual ports and 60-Watts of Power

The main star of the Anker power stack is by far the new PowerPort III. This small, white brick is capable of up to 60-Watts when connected to a single device and 30-Watts across two separate devices.

This is all a combination of gallium nitride semiconductors and Anker’s PowerIQ. Galium Nitrade, GaN for short, is strongly considered the successor to lithium due to it’s faster charging and smaller footprint.

PowerIQ is Anker’s proprietary smart-charging technology that transmits data from the charger to the device to communicate the highest possible current the device can handle. PowerIQ then tells the charger to send current. In essence, if your device reports it can take 30W the PowerPort III charges at 30W. On the flip, if you want to charge your laptop, it will pull the full 60W if your device is rated for that max charge.

The PowerPort III has been a great addition to my bag. With its PowerIQ and dual ports, I have been able to charge all the devices in my connected life. My Pixel 5, Android tablet, and Dell Latitude have all had the tanks topped off with zero issues.

I was able to match my Dell’s 45W charger with the PowerPort III while still charging my Pixel 5 as well. Having one universal standard charging option with USB-C and dual ports really is the future.

Smaller, But Still Packs a Punch

Don’t feel like lugging around the dual PowerPort III, well then you should strongly consider the Nano. Anker has packed 20W of power into this tiny little brick power adapter. It’s significantly smaller than many other options and packs a better punch than some.

At 20W this puts the Nano pushing three times the 5W standard still found on many smartphone chargers. While flagships from Samsung and Google include a fast charger, the Nano’s 20W is still smaller and more than the Pixel 5’s 18W adapter.

Anker has a nice balance of value and extra power with the Nano charger. If you have an older charger or need an extra, you can’t go wrong here.

Don’t forget the cable

The Anker lineup wouldn’t be complete without cables. Anker has new PowerLine III cables to be paired with these awesome chargers as well. These allow for PowerIQ to regulate power from these adapters to your device’s maximum charging ranges.

They’ve also got you covered for both major platforms. You can snag a Lightning cable for the fruit-flavored tech you have or USB-C for the universal standard for modern Android phones. Both offer from 5W to a full 60W of power to even charge that USB-C laptop you have lying around too.

Anker just gets charging

Anker made its bones early in its existence with charging adapters and cables, so it’s no surprise that the Power series in generation three is a winner. The PowerLine III and Nano continue the tradition of offering just as good or better performance at a more manageable price than most competitors.

The same is said for the PowerLine III cables. They simply are some of the best third-party offerings you can find online. How about the prices of all these great accessories? The PowerLine III will set you back $18 for the standard 6-foot option and is available in black or white.

The Nano charger undercuts the $18 of the cables and comes in at only $17. This is an amazing value for a quick charger from a quality company you can trust. Anker has a long-standing reputation and the Nano continues that trend.

The PowerPort III is more of an investment but still not gonna smash your budget. The PowerPort III is currently $53. This is more than an impulse buys of less than say $25, but you get a ton of power and two full USB-C ports in an extremely compact design.

12min: Concise, micro books in under 15 minutes

0

Have you ever wished that you could plug into The Matrix and absorb knowledge at a break-neck pace? While the tools don’t exist to learn Kung Fu in a matter of seconds, it is possible to take in a full book inside of a lunch break.

Called 12min, this app gives you access to hundreds of “micro books” in both text and narrative format. As you might suspect, it condenses books into concise but comprehensive synopses that take just 12 minutes.

With a premium subscription, you’ll have access to 30 new titles each month which can be read anywhere and everywhere — even without a data connection. All you have to do is carve out 12 minutes. Commuting? Waiting at the dentist? Cleaning up the kitchen? Take in a full book!

Why 12min micro books?

  • Capture the best ideas from nonfiction books
  • Develop new skills for your personal or professional life
  • Discover new patterns and tendencies, with the best authors
  • Listen everywhere! Subway, car or even during your morning run. Use this spare time to learn!

If you have a title in mind, search for it in the extensive library. Can’t find it? Send a request to the 12min team and they’ll add it. Once you find the micro book(s) you like, you can enjoy it via text or audio format.

It’s awesome stuff to be sure, but don’t take our word for it. Check out the reviews in the Google Play Store and you’ll see it has a nearly perfect score with more than 18,000 reviews.

Five of the funniest video games to play on Android

0

Video games have been a fantastic interactive form of entertainment since the early 1970s. There used to be arcades crowded with people popping in fistfuls of quarters to beat that next level. Since then significant innovations have happened, especially when it comes to having them in the home, with consoles and PCs.

Mobile gaming has quickly become a major world phenomenon. As gaming is pure entertainment, players will always enjoy getting a laugh while playing along, and there are many very funny games available.

Potty Launch Series

A lot of people may remember the old Flash-based Potty Racer series that was available through your computer browser. It involves flinging your stickman down a hill on a portapotty and seeing how far they can fly. This series is going for the same thing, and it is difficult to get sick of seeing an outdoor toilet launching through the air.

You start slow and need to collect currency to upgrade all of your abilities. Every launch will get you closer to that next upgrade and a chuckle every time you watch it. Millions have enjoyed this series for a reason, and Potty Launch 2 or 3 will give you hours of hilarious entertainment.

Troll Face Quest Series

If you don’t know what the troll face is, you will be one of very few worldwide. This famous meme found its way into the gaming world and continues the trend of making people laugh. There are many different variants of this game at this point, and any one of them will do the trick of tickling your funny bone.

These are essentially puzzle-based games that require you to try to troll some of your most notable celebrities and characters. They can require a lot of trial and error to get through, but when you finally troll that person you can’t stand, it will be worth it for the laughs.

SimpleMMO

Massive multiplayer online games have had a huge fanbase on PC for decades now, and they have shifted into the mobile arena as well. While most of these games are not developed with humor in mind, SimpleMMO does things differently. The primary purpose of this game is to laugh, socialize, and compete.

SimpleMMO is a mostly text-based game with a basic user-interface, but don’t let that scare you away. The main focus is taking steps and reading the dialogue that comes up for each one. One of the best parts about it is that you can submit your own ‘travel text’ and see if you have what it takes to be one of the steps.

Knights of Pen and Paper Series

As roleplaying games have been a staple of the industry for quite some time, there are many options to choose from. There are some with amazing graphics and story, while others, like this series, offer fantastic gameplay mechanics and a lot of laughs. The series hails back to the old pen and paper RPGs, hence the name, and is a great choice for older gamers.

You go on a mighty quest with a party you can slowly build up. You fight enemies, gain levels, get new equipment, the basic standards. The best part of this is the dialogue and the story. From overused cliches to pop culture references, this series has a lot of humor for the player to enjoy.

Angry Birds Series

You may have been living under a rock all these years if you have never heard of Angry Birds. This smash success has had tens of millions of players helping those poor birds get their eggs back from those greedy pigs. You do this by flinging the hilarious looking and sounding birds at these pigs to try and knock them off the platforms.

This series has spawned a sequel, spin-offs, and even two major Hollywood films. It has grossed a ridiculous amount of revenue. The birds may be angry, but they are hilarious when it comes down to it.

Keep Your Phone Protected

There have never been more threats out there in the online world, and it is essential to keep your phone protected. One of the best ways to keep your phone safe is by using a VPN. For example, NordVPN is an excellent choice if you want to secure your internet connection and keep your data away from hackers.

There are numerous methods available to protect your smartphone, so make sure to have all of your security up to date before you start gaming.
