Jabra Elite 85t picks up four new color options

0

Jabra hasn’t introduced any new products for the start of 2021 but that doesn’t mean it’s not doing altogether. Indeed, it has something minor up its sleeve for the virtual event that is CES 2021.

Its most recent earphones, the Elite 85t noise-canceling true-wireless earbuds, now come in four new color options. Set to hit retailers in the coming weeks, the earbuds will be offered in gold/beige, copper/black, black, and gray. These colors join the titanium/black version that launched back in October.

The Elite 85t typically sell for about $230, but have occasionally dropped to about $180 on Amazon and other retailers.

Key features for the Jabra Elite 85t:

  • Six microphones
  • Adjustable ANC
  • Dust and rain resistance (IPX4)
  • 25 hours battery life including case
  • Qi wireless charging for earbud case
  • 12mm speakers

Ampere expands its reach with hydro-powered Shower Power speaker

0

After starting out with products centered around mobile and wireless charging, Ampere has begun stretching its arms a bit. Its new Shower Power speaker, set to ship in the first quarter of the year (Q1 2021), is a Bluetooth speaker designed specifically for the bathroom.

The Shower Power promises to fit all showerheads and will be powered by the water that passes through it. In essence, it will have a continuous battery life and will not need to be removed for charging.

The Shower Power is constructed from 100% recycled ocean plastic so it’s not only cool tech, but environmentally conscious, too.

The speaker automatically turns on when the water is turned on and stores enough power to keep playing after your shower is over too. With the water running, Shower Power always generates enough power to play and charge the battery at the same time. With a fully charged battery, Shower Power boasts over 20 hours of listening time with the shower off.

The Shower Power was the fourth successful Kickstarter campaign from the Ampere brand, raising some $224,000 on the crowdfunding site.

This week, Ampere also announced that it will release an LED light version called the  Shower Power Shine. The speaker will provide a light show to the shower speaker, even synchronizing with the audio.

The Shower Power speaker will start at $99.95 when it begins shipping later this quarter.

Roborock intros S7 robot vacuum with advanced mopping capabilities

0

Roborock on Monday announced its newest robot vacuum cleaner, the S7. Slated to arrive in March, the unit promises to feature of the fastest sonic mops in the space.

The robot vacuum field has been an interesting one to watch evolve over the last few years. Not only do they get smarter and more powerful, but they’ve also integrated mopping components.

The Roborock S7 is reported to provide anywhere from 1,650 up to 3,000 scrubs per minute, breaking up dirt and dried-on messes. The number will vary based on the cleaning mode set by the user.

The S7 also features “VibraRise” technology which detects carpet and automatically lifts the robot vacuum’s mop. This allows for a single session to handle both vacuum and mopping, saving time and energy. Additionally, the unit can return to its docking station with the mop attachment included.

The S7 builds on its predecessor, the S6, with an improved brush for agitating carpet; the 2500Pa of suction will lift the dirt from carpet and rugs. The 5200mAh battery allows for up to three hours of continuous cleaning in quiet mode.

Similar to its other smart robot vacuums, the Roborock S7 has a companion app which gives users the ability to customize cleaning schedules and adjust preferences. It also features a real-time indication of the robot’s route and mapping history. Last, but not least, it can integrate with Google Home, Siri, and Alexa.

The Roborock S7 will arrive in March and will be available to purchase from Amazon for $649. Look for it in black and white color options.

Familiar design to Soundcore fans

The Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Pro ANC earbuds continue the design language the company has had for the last two years. Honestly, the earbuds look like last year’s Liberty 2 Pro and the Liberty Air 2 had a baby. You will get a teardrop design similar to the Liberty Air 2 but with a neat new angular profile.

Stow that away in the charging case that’s very reminiscent of the Liberty 2 Pro one and I think you have a winner. I really hope it has the same satisfying slide mechanism and clicks as that one. Those that have one know what I’m talking about.

Available now

The new Liberty Air 2 Pro is available now in all three colors from Amazon, Best Buy, and Soundcore. The retail price will be $129.99 but from the looks and pedigree, it should be well worth it.

Kyocera DuraForce Ultra 5G UW heads to Verizon

0

Kyocera on Monday announced that its DuraForce Ultra 5G UW will soon be offered through Verizon as part of the carrier’s 5G phone roster.

Extremely rugged and certified to military standard 810H, the DuraForce Ultra 5G UW is built to handle drops (up to five feet) on concrete, water, dust, and extreme temperatures. Moreover, it’s also designed to deal with fog, shock, salt, and other hazardous work environments.

The DuraForce Ultra 5G UW is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor which puts it in the middle of the pack in terms of performance. But that’s not the draw with these types of devices; it’s largely centered around usability in all environments. In other words, it’s the sort of phone you’d want to have on a job site. In fact, this is Kyocera’s toughest and most durable phone to date — and it has 5G support.

The 5.45-inch full-HD display works when wet as well as with gloves on. It also offers a bright screen that’s easy to see in daylight. Moreover, the display is protected by Sapphire Shield and is virtually scratchproof.

Other features in the phone include a 24-megapixel main camera, 16-megapixel wide-angle (117 degree) camera, and front-facing 8-megapixel camera. Along those lines, the Kyocera handset has a time-of-flight sensor, advanced AR, an “Action Overlay”, Super Night Vision Mode, and low-light pixel binning.

Rounding out the notable details, the Kyocera DuraForce Ultra 5G UW has dual front speakers (with a very loud speakerphone), PTT, a 4,500mAh battery with wireless charging, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Verizon is expected to announce the pricing and availability in the near future.

Seven YouTube alternatives to try when you can’t find a video on YouTube

0

YouTube is the number one online video-sharing platform in the world. Any person with a camera, computer, and internet connection can create videos and upload them to their YouTube channels for free.

Some people even make money from their videos after building a successful channel under a popular niche. All they need to do is buy YouTube views and upload new videos consistently. That is how a channel can grow and become a real money maker. But that doesn’t help people who are merely looking for videos to watch.

The ease and convenience of uploading videos have crowded the platform with billions of videos. It is difficult to find a video you might want to watch because you have to browse through so many similar videos. That is why an increasing number of people are looking for YouTube alternatives for finding and watching videos.

Below are the top 7 YouTube alternatives to try when you can’t find a video on YouTube.

1) Vimeo

Vimeo is more of a community-oriented video sharing platform. It caters to filmmakers and creative content creators who want to show off their work to specific groups of people. You can expect to find more HD and Ultra HD (4K) videos on the platform because people take their video creation more seriously on it.

People who upload videos have a 500MB storage limit per week on how much content they can upload. If they want to upload videos that are over 500MB in total size per week, they must upgrade their membership to a paid account. That is another reason why you’ll find fewer amateur videos on Vimeo. Only serious content creators are willing to pay money to upload videos.

Viewers are expected to be serious too. You won’t see as many trolls or haters in the comment section. Instead, they will be people who leave real reviews and comments meant to help the content creators. Since it is free to watch videos on Vimeo, you definitely should check out the platform to find some great videos to watch.

2) Dailymotion

Dailymotion is considered to be the next best video sharing platform after YouTube. Its interface and navigation system are very similar to what you’d find on YouTube. If you’re accustomed to searching for videos on YouTube, then you should have no problem getting accustomed to the same process on Dailymotion.

But there are some differences in the platform. For instance, Dailymotion assigns videos to specific categories. That is something you don’t see on YouTube. It makes searching for videos so much easier on the user-end of things because you don’t need to rely on keywords alone to find videos to watch.

Dailymotion has more restrictions on video upload sizes and duration. Each video cannot be more than 2 GB in size and 60 minutes in length. People are only allowed to upload up to 10 videos per day. These restrictions are not too bad because they help reduce the clutter of videos on the website.

3) Flickr

Flickr was initially created as a photo-sharing platform. But over the years, it has gradually transitioned into a video sharing platform too. It lets users upload videos that are 90 seconds or less. The idea is that shorter videos are more artistic because they need to entertain people quickly. That is why content creators are usually artists of both video, photography, music, and film.

If you’re interested in browsing shorter videos, then you’ll find a nice selection of them on Flickr. It seems like the video features are growing each year too. Even though the website might feel restrictive as far as videos are concerned, that could change in the near future. But if you’re only watching videos, then you don’t need to worry about the restrictions. Enjoy watching the short videos for free.

4) Metacafe

Metacafe has some similarities to YouTube because they both have original videos and exclusive videos. The platform has partnered with several mainstream television networks to deliver high-quality videos in many different categories. But the one stipulation is that people cannot upload videos longer than 8 minutes.

That can be a good thing in a way. It means all the videos on the platform are short and to the point. Since most people don’t like watching long videos anyway, it is the perfect site for people who like their entertainment to come quickly. Metacafe does an excellent job of doing that.

You’ll find videos ranging from various categories, including music, sports, video games, movies, and television. They even have a family filter so that children under 18 do not find inappropriate videos. Most video sharing platforms do not have a family filter, so this is truly something unique about Metacafe.

5) Veoh

Veoh is a great YouTube alternative that seems to have stayed under the radar for many years. Users can find personal videos, independent productions, and major studio films and videos on the platform. Its basic interface should be easy enough for anyone to learn how to use.

Just type in your keywords in the search box to find videos to watch. Either that, or you can use the drop-down menus to find videos and movies in various categories. There is even a music section where you can listen to music videos from different genres, such as Rock, Latin, Jazz, Electronic, Country, Classical, and Alternative.

6) DTube

DTube might sound like YouTube. It might have a similar interface to YouTube. It might let users watch videos and upload videos without any restrictions… just like YouTube. Okay, so what’s the difference?

DTube does not have ads! You can enjoy unlimited video watching without any annoying ad interruptions. Not only that, but the interface lets you save videos and watch them later.

Of course, most people have never heard of DTube before. That is why you might struggle to find the types of videos you want to watch. There isn’t nearly as much video variety on DTube as there is on YouTube.

7) 9Gag

Do you like to watch meme videos and images? If so, then you might enjoy the content on 9Gag. It features short entertainment videos and images for your viewing pleasure.

All of the content is categorized, so it is easy to find the content you want to watch. Just look at the vertical navigational bar of categories on the left side of the screen. You can find categories for gaming, cars, animals, memes, politics, relationships, and more.

Many social media users like to share 9Gag videos with their friends on Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter. The 9Gag platform makes it easy for you to do this. All you need to do is click the necessary buttons to share the videos.

Five things you should know about Amazon Luna

0

While most of us have been obsessed with the recent launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, Amazon has not so quietly released a new gaming streaming service.

It has a pretty good selection of games with 76 titles and growing currently available. It’s something worth considering. If you don’t take a side in the console wars or desperately wait for them to be restocked in stores again, Amazon is specifically looking for gamers like you.

And starting from $5.99/month, it’s a pretty sweet deal, especially if you’re already in the Amazon ecosystem. What’s cool is they partnered with Ubisoft to create an exclusive gaming channel you can add to your subscription for an additional $14.99/month. This is how you’ll get to play all the best titles like Far Cry 6 and the new Assassin’s Creed.

Is Amazon Luna the right call for you? Here the five most important things you need to know to help you make that decision.

Currently Only Available in the US*

Sorry international fans, but you can only access Amazon Luna in the US. That even includes Canada, which has its typically robust collection of Prime Video movies and shows.

Fortunately, we have a little trick up our sleeves if you want to try it out and you’re not in the US. You can use NordVPN to change your virtual location to the US.

In effect, Amazon thinks you’re browsing from there to enjoy all the great gaming titles and other US-based content. Don’t forget VPNs also have many other gaming benefits, including blocking DDoS attacks and enhancing performance in some situations.

You Don’t Need a Luna Controller

This will shock most gamers, but you can buy the Luna Controller if you want, but you can still play using an Xbox One, PS4, or mouse and keyboard (we haven’t heard yet about controllers from the new consoles). On mobile, you can use touch controls.

But you might be interested in picking up a Luna Controller anyway. It’s directly connected to the cloud, reducing lag time, and it comes with Alexa.

Play Across Screens

Amazon Luna is powered by AWS (Amazon Web Service). We won’t bore you on the technical details, but that means you’re using Amazon’s vast network of data centers to play.

That’s why you can play using the relatively wimpy Amazon FireTV and also seamlessly switch to your mobile.

The only thing you’ll need to enjoy these games is a fast internet connection. You can even play in your web browser.

You Won’t Need too Much Bandwidth

If you’re already gaming online, you likely won’t need to change your internet subscription. Currently, Amazon Luna requires a minimum of 10 Mbps for standard HD games and 35 Mbps for 4K. Do note only select titles are even in 4K for now.

If you’re on any limited data plan, keep in mind Amazon predicts that cloud gaming generally can take up 10 GB/hour if streaming at 1080P. Don’t worry, though. Mobile gaming has been optimized for data connections, so you don’t burn through your plan that fast!

For Mobile, Android is the Way to Go

Sorry iOS users, since Apple has gotten way too protective over its App store, you won’t quite find the same native-level support for Amazon Luna. You’re basically playing through the Safari browser.

On the other hand, Android phones are better equipped. However, not all Android phones will work. You’ll need a flagship phone from 2019 or newer to support the specs.

So far, Amazon confirms these phones can support Amazon Luna:

  • Google: Pixel 4XL, 4A 5G, 5
  • One Plus 7. 7 Pro, 7 Pro 5G, 8, 8 Pro, Nord, 7T series
  • Samsung Galaxy S10, Note 10, S20, Note 20 series

Is it Time To Try Out Luna?

It’s a pretty solid offer. Rather than shell out for a console, it can be a better way to enjoy your gaming. If you’ve just sunk $500 on a new Xbox or Sony, we say forget about it.

But for those who haven’t made up their minds or are waiting, it’s worth checking out.

Sharpen your brand’s image online with a .STORE domain

0

If the global pandemic and subsequent economic downturn has taught us one thing, it’s that we can’t rely on cozy desk jobs to secure our financial futures. We need to take matters into our own hands, which is why more and more people are taking advantage of this unprecedented downtime at home in order to start an online business.

It used to be that the most difficult elements of running an online store were overhead costs, promotion, and advertising fees. Now, one of the hardest parts of starting and promoting a brand or business on the web is finding a relevant domain name that hasn’t already been taken.

In fact, over 65% of standard domain name availability checks fail, due to market saturation and years of businesses grabbing the most memorable and catchiest names.

So instead of spending the next few months pulling your hair out trying to lock down that perfect and endlessly-elusive .com domain name, why not land a domain extension that offers far more options along with a succinct message for your customers?

A .STORE domain name extension is a fresh and catchy alternative to the overused and boring .com and .net extensions, and you can grab one right now for just $4.99 when you sign up for a year.

Whether you’re trying to start the next eBay or simply want to sell a few products from the comfort of your own home, giving your online business a .STORE domain extension will allow you to attract more customers, send a strong message about your website’s purpose, and reduce promotional costs across the board.

Already trusted by over 400,000 successful online stores and used by leading Fortune 500 companies like Nike, Kindle, and Amazon, .STORE domains offer unparalleled flexibility when it comes to landing a domain name that actually reflects your brand’s unique style and mission.

It’s no secret that customers tend to remember words and links that easily resonate with their needs as a consumer, and forcing yourself to settle for a domain name that’s unrecognizable and unmemorable will end up hurting your business and driving down sales.

Do your online store a favor and use a domain name extension that both accurately depicts your brand’s mission and tells current and future customers that you’re open for business.

Available with 1-year, 5-year, and 10-year subscriptions, a .STORE domain extension is a practical and affordable way to ensure that you’re maximizing your brand’s visibility online, and a full year is available for just $4.99 when you sign up today.
