Treblab HD77 speaker review

0

Listening to music is a great, relaxing pastime for most people. Sitting back and enjoying your favorite playlist can make or break a bad day. Having that option with a high-quality portable speaker can make finding that time even more obtainable.

Treblab has another great addition to this market with the HD77 portable speaker. Is it worth the $80 price tag? Let’s find out in this official review of the striking new blue model Treblab HD77.

Design

The HD77 is very similar to our previous review from Treblab with the HD Max. Is has the same rugged casing mixed with thick rubber and nylon weave. This leads to a speaker that can easily be thrown in a bag with little worry about damage.

On each end of the unit is two 12.5 Watt speakers. Each has an aluminum cone stamped with the Treblab logo. The top is flanked by four buttons to control playback and calls. Under the speaker are a port for charging and a 3.5mm auxiliary jack.

Controls

The previously mentioned four buttons offer a nice tactile way to interact with your media while using the Treblab HD77. You have a power button that, of course, turns the unit on and off. It also initiates pairing a new device by holding for three seconds while the speaker is already powered up. If using the 3.5mm jack it will also cycle through wireless or wired playback.

The other three buttons are just as familiar with volume down, play/pause, and volume up. The primary functions of each are pretty obvious, however, a long-press for 2 seconds of the volume down button results in returning to the previous track. Conversely, the same on the volume up button moves you forward a track.

Sound

This little speaker rocks! For something that’s the size of a reusable water bottle, it’s packing quite a concert in there. In my home office listening to music I simply couldn’t take it with the sound on my Pixel past 50 percent. The punch from this little boombox is great.

The bass is very robust and without drowning out the hi and mid playback. The 12.5-Watt speakers on each side really do make it a compact powerhouse. I can honestly say for the size, it’s the best speaker in my home right now.

Battery

No portable speaker is complete without a larger power bank inside. The Treblab HD77 doesn’t disappoint with a 2600mAh pack to keep your music going. The company rates this at around 20 hours of playback per charge with the volume at 50 percent.

I found this estimate to be accurate. You can easily get 20 hours out of the HD77 with more than enough volume to keep you engaged and rocking. One knock though? MicroUSB is still here when you do need a charge. With USB-C the new standard for several years now, this is just not OK.

Final Thoughts

I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the Treblab HD77. This literal pint-sized speaker more than exceeds my expectations. It’s definitely worth a look over more recognized brands with a much larger price tag.

And that brings us to the final deciding factor: price. At $80 this thing is a steal. Treblab has produced a speaker with a robust sound that can easily be thrown in any bag while traveling. Need a little more incentive? Our users can get a 15 percent discount on the new blue model feature in this review with our coupon code of HD77BLUENEW at checkout!

Dish on Monday announced that it will acquire the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Republic Wireless as well as its 200,000 customer relationships.

Dish, who already owns the Boost Mobile brand, is working on a build-out of its own 5G network. Boost Mobile, like Republic Wireless, uses T-Mobile’s network (formerly Sprint) to provide wireless service.

We look forward to welcoming Republic customers to the DISH family.”

John Swieringa, group president, Retail Wireless and DISH COO

According to the press release, Republic subscribers should not see any immediate changes to their rate plans or experience. Moreover, they will not have to take any steps or make any changes on their end.

iBeesoft Data Recovery offering free 2GB file recovery

0

If there’s one thing we’ve come to learn from being confined to the home for work or school, it’s that our computers are invaluable tools. Without them, we’d be stuck.

It’s not just about being able to get online, although that’s largely what we spend our time doing. No, our PCs are incredibly resourceful because of all the great things we can do with them.

The videos we can create. The pictures we’ve saved. The documents we’ve scanned. The attachments we’ve downloaded. Our computers have vast amounts of storage and we often take them for granted.

Problems Arise

What happens when you go to log onto your computer and find that you’ve lost files? Not just moved them to a new location and cannot locate them, but you realize that they’re gone gone. Or, what do you do when you suddenly need that file that you deleted six months ago because you didn’t think you’d ever use it again?

We don’t just worry about files on our computers, either. They’re also stored on memory cards, external hard drives, flash drives, and more. And when we think about it, those are the places where we’ve likely made the deliberate choice to store a file or document.

Files aren’t lost solely due to carelessness or accidental deletion. It also comes from hacking and hardware failure, too.

Help is Here

If locating or recovering files is something you care about — and let’s face it, you should — check out iBeesoft’s Data Recovery.

File types supported include pictures, audio, video, documents, zipped archives, emails, and others. It’s pretty much anything and everything you’d create, save, or download.

Available as a free download, the iBeesoft utility can scan Windows devices based on FAT, exFAT, NTFS, NTFS5, ext2, ext3, HFS+ file systems. This means PCs, servers, memory cards, external hard drives, flash drives, digital cameras, and more.

Free Sample!

iBeesoft recently began offering a free version of its data recovery tool which lets users recover up to 2GB data for free. Note that you must click on that link to find the free version as there’s no way to arrive at it from the home page. Should one need or want to recover more than 2GB of data, they can purchase a lifetime license for $45.95.

Moreover, there are options for multiple computers; the Family License ($89.95) is good for 2-5 PCs/servers and the Company License ($299.95) is available for unlimited PCs/servers.

Regardless of which version of the software you purchase you’ll have a 60 day money back guarantee as well as lifetime upgrades and tech support.

There are additional tools and utilities available through iBeesoft, including backup software and a duplicate file finder. On the opposite end of the spectrum it also offers a file shredder which makes it impossible for someone to snoop through your computer or drives and find unwanted things.

Should you need help with files on a Mac, they have a recovery tool for that platform as well. Similarly, it provides iPhone recovery solutions for Windows and Mac systems.

OnePlus taps Hasselblad for its camera systems

0

OnePlus on Monday announced it has tapped Hasselblad to help co-develop the camera systems in its upcoming phones.

The deal, which sees OnePlus investing some $150 million in the camera brand, is a three-year strategic plan. The first phone to see the new camera system will be the OnePlus 9, which is officially scheduled for March 23.

Hasselblad brings quite a bit to the table for OnePlus phones, including more authentic and natural color. The new solution is called Natural Color Calibration and saw OnePlus redevelop its own calibration algorithms and then map to Hasselblad’s color.

Beyond natural color, the collaboration between OnePlus and Hasselblad will extend to custom hardware development in the future. We will work closely together on custom lenses, sensor calibration and other areas to continuing perfecting the system.

OnePlus is expected to introduce its newest phone series, the OnePlus 9, at a product launch on March 23.

Looking to Upgrade to a B2B eCommerce Platform? Explore the Best Options

0

According to Forrester, US B2B eCommerce is on target to hit $1.8 trillion by 2023. Don’t let a repurposed B2C eCommerce platform keep you from taking full advantage of the constant move to online buying.

If you’re relying on a B2C platform that’s been extended and modified until it is the Frankenstein of eCommerce, it’s time to move to a B2B eCommerce platform. eCommerce replatforming can seem overwhelming.  Here’s how to explore your options to find the right product for you.

How Do You Know It’s Time to Replatform?

There are obvious signs you need to move from your current platform. Maybe your customers tell you they dislike your site, or it doesn’t provide the functionality they need. You should be so lucky.

Other signs are subtle. High bounce rates and low conversion rates provide subtle signals that it’s time to replatform.

Do you have problems with:

  • Outdated web design
  • Small upgrades crashing the system
  • Lack of ERP, PIM, WMS, or other integrations
  • Rising maintenance costs
  • Increasing operating costs

Does your IT department spend their time chasing bugs, creating patches, and constantly complaining about the difficulty of keeping your current website operational?

These are all clear signals it’s time for a new platform.

Develop Your Strategy and Scope Your MVP Before Your RFP

Once you’ve decided to face your fears of replatforming resist the temptation to go out and start demo’ing the current platforms. That’s the easiest way to end up with the wrong product.

Instead, start by determining what features and functionality you need in a new B2B eCommerce platform, then look at your existing data and determine how it should integrate with your other systems. This analysis is the backbone of your migration strategy.

Next, start to scope out your minimum viable product (MVP). Your MVP is the fastest and most cost-effective way to get your new B2B eCommerce website up and running on the new platform.

With a strategy and MVP in hand, you now know what you need in your new platform. It’s time to start looking around and working on your RFP.

Must-Have B2B Functionality

What bugs you the most about your current platform? Probably the lack of features that should be standard for any B2B eCommerce platform. Since businesses sell to other businesses differently than they sell to retail consumers, their needs are different. Here are some functions you must have:

Pricing Options

You should have as many pricing options as you have customers. If each customer buys according to a negotiated price schedule, then you need the ability to create and maintain an infinite number of price lists.

If your prices depend on the availability of commodities on the spot market, then maybe dynamic pricing is a functionality you need.

If your prices are determined by factors such as volume, frequency, and purchasing history, then a powerful pricing engine provides the algorithms you need.

To accommodate future needs, pick a platform that supports multiple pricing scenarios. Your pricing structure today may not be the pricing strategy you employ next year.

Powerful CMS for Products

Researchers are looking for as much product information as possible. Select a B2B eCommerce platform with a powerful and flexible CMS that allows configurable products and even matrix ordering.

As you can see, if you sell configurable products, a matric order form lets the buyer easily configure their products by simply entering the quantity. This is exactly the frictionless customer experience busy buyers want in the 2020s.

And speaking of making things easy, look for an integrated CMS that provides a WYSIWYG editor to make creating landing pages and other product pages easy. Look for a CMS with drag and drop elements to speed the process.

A modern B2B website should include how-to videos, a webinar library, product use cases, warranty information, troubleshooting guides, and more.

Make sure the CMS is up to the challenge.

User-Defined Access, Roles, and Permissions

B2C buyers don’t need to coordinate their purchases with others. It’s the rare B2B purchase that is made without a team decision or multiple approval levels.

If this describes your customer base, make coordinating purchases and receiving approvals easier for them.

Select a platform that lets users define their own account access, roles, and permissions. This functionality used in conjunction with a flexible workflow engine lets each customer customize their account to accommodate how they make purchases.

Don’t think this is important to you? User-defined roles and permissions are driving the popularity and success of AmazonBusiness. Clearly, this functionality is important to business buyers.

Integration by Design

Your eCommerce platform isn’t going to be a stand-alone solution. To provide transparency into your supply chain, you’ll need to integrate your website platform and your ERP.  This way customers can see stock levels before they place the order.

Make sure your RFP includes questions regarding the availability of APIs to make integration easier.

Sales will want a connected CRM and eCommerce platform for a 360-degree view of customer behavior and buying habits.

Customers will appreciate a 3PL integration that lets them track orders and check status easily.

Marketing, sales, and merchandisers will appreciate an eCommerce platform that effortlessly connects to your PIM to maintain a single source of truth for product information.

Flexible Deployment

Assess your deployment options as well. What works today may not work next year or three years from now.

Look for maximum flexibility to deploy on-premises or in the cloud. And for cloud services, evaluate if you are locked into the vendor’s cloud or if you can use a private cloud. If you start on-premise, can you move to a cloud deployment? Is the opposite true?  Can you migrate from a cloud-based option to an on-premises installation?

The more flexibility you have, the better you will be able to pivot when needed. If the COVID-19 pandemic taught business just one lesson – it’s that flexibility is essential.

Evaluate Open-Source versus Proprietary Solutions

Proprietary cloud-based solutions offer the appeal of rapid deployment. But, when you use the MVP approach, you’ll be up and running quickly no matter what type of platform you select.

When it comes to the ability to integrate or customize, you’ll find much more flexibility and adaptability in open-source solutions.

As part of your platform evaluation, look for the eco-system in which it operates. What partners are available? Is there a community of developers and users for support? What about official company support? Is it available?

What Comes Out of the Box?

Finally, look at what comes out of the box and what will need to be customized.

The product that provides close to 80% of your MVP out of the box will be the product that speeds your time to market and reduces the time to ROI.

That is most likely your best option.

Google Pixel 5a rumored arrival date leaks — when to expect it

0

Google’s next smartphone will arrive in mid-June, or so says the oft-reliable Jon Prosser. To be more precise, he says to look for it on June 11. Although he doesn’t specify which model it will be, all signs point to it being the Pixel 5a.

If true, the timing would match up the mid-year release that Google has used for its mid-range phones over the last few cycles.

As to whether or not there’s a physical gathering or a virtual one scheduled for that date remains to be seen. Our money says Google will err on the side of caution and keep things remote at least one more time.

Before the new phone arrives Google will debut a new set of Pixel Buds. At least that’s what Prosser advises. This would mark the third generation for the wireless earbuds.

Pixel 5a Features

Alleged renders of the Pixel 5a have surfaced in the last few weeks, suggesting it will keep the same design language as its predecessor, the Pixel 4a.

via Steve Hemmerstoffer (@onleaks)

Rumored specifications for the handset include a 6.2-inch FHD+ display with a hole-punch cutout in the screen for the front-facing camera. Moreover, it figures to have a dual-camera setup and could likely be the same 12-megapixel primary shooter that’s found in other Pixel models.

Although the real meat and potatoes specifications are yet to bubble to the top, we can likely expect it to have one of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 700 series processors with 5G support.

Android Auto now has split screen

0

One of my favorite Google products is Android Auto. It’s made my work commute and long road trips so much more enjoyable. Having your favorite audio apps and phone on a big screen in your car is amazing.

Google continues to invest and bring new features to the platform. Users are beginning to report that the latest update is allowing them a split-screen mode on widescreen car headunits.

According to some folks in the AndroidAuto subreddit, this new display option is going live via server-side updates on devices. The app itself hasn’t seen an update since February 25, but Google often makes options like this available on the backend.

The new split-screen presentation is similar to Apple’s CarPlay in that it gives your last-used app the left side of the screen and another secondary option on the right. The left portion is pretty much what the standard Android Auto UI shows on any app now and the smaller view on the right is more like what you’d see on your phone in portrait.

There’s currently no compatibility list or minimum requirements officially offered by Google. The Reddit crowd has come to the conclusion that for now, anything with a display of 7″ screen or smaller will not have this split mode enabled. This is kinda a bummer for an owner of a 7″ Pioneer head unit, but this could just be a trial run by Google in hopes of expansion to other sizes at a later date.

What do you think? Do you like the look of this new Android Auto mode? Are you seeing this new option in your car? Let us know in the comments.
