GRECELL 2000W Portable Power Station is an all-in-one solution for home and away

0

Hurricane season is underway; are you prepared? What will you do if a major storm hits your area and power is knocked out for a day or two? Forget about charging your phone; what do you do about food?

Natural disasters come in all shapes and sizes, including tornados, ice storms, hurricanes, and earthquakes. While some of them may cause you to be without power for a few hours, others may stretch on for days at a time.

I’m a big advocate of portable chargers for phones and an even bigger fan of power stations for appliances. They’re a fantastic device to have on hand in emergency situations. Moreover, they’re designed to travel, too. So, if you’re a camping enthusiast or live that van life, you’ll love having one of these.

The GRECELL 2000W portable power station is that sort of all-in-one product that’s designed for a wide array of uses. Indeed, not only can you charge up devices using different methods, you can plug in a whole bunch of them at one time.

GRECELL 2000W Portable Power Station Features

  • Capacity: 1997Wh/2000W (Peak 4000W)/624000mAh
  • Battery Type: LiFePO4
  • AC Input: 1100W Max. 100-120V~50/60Hz
  • Solar Input: 11.5-50V / 500W Max.
  • 6 AC Outputs: 100-120V~50/60Hz
  • 2 DC5521 Outputs: 12V/3A
  • 1 Car Port Output: 12V/10A
  • 1 XT60 Output: 12V/10A
  • 6 USB Outputs: 2*PD3.0 100W Max, 2*QC3.0 18W Max, 2*5V/2.4A
  • LED Light: Lighting/Strobe/SOS
  • Working Temperature: 14°F-104°F
  • Dimensions: 15.43 x 10.98 x 12.72 inches
  • Net Weight: 48.5 lbs/22kg

With six AC outputs to work with, the GRECELL portable station is perfect for emergency overnight situations where you might need to plug in a lamp, computer, electric grill, microwave, or other small appliances. Heck, why not use all of those at once?

Around front are another six outputs, including four USB Type-A and two USB Type-C ports. And it’s not just a simple case of supporting those plugs, they’re fast and powerful, too. Two of the USB-A are 5V/2.4A while the other two are Quick Charge 3.0 compliant. And those Type-C ports? They’re up to 100W so that’s good for phones, laptops, tablets, and two-in-one devices.

Other ports present include two DC5521 outputs (12V/3A), a car adapter (12V/10A), and an XT60 (12V/10A) plug. All told, there are 16 total devices which can be plugged in at one time.

Here are some examples as to how much battery you’d have in the GRECELL portable power station.

  • Electric stove – 90 minutes
  • Electric grill – 110 minutes
  • Mini fridge – 30 hours
  • Microwave oven – 100 minutes
  • Drone – 16 charges
  • Hair dryer – 50 minutes
  • TV – 26 hours
  • Cell phone – 200 charges

When it comes to charging the GRECELL 2000W unit you’ve got three options: 110V AC outlet, 500W solar panel, and car cigarette socket. Plugged into the wall, you’re looking at around two hours to charge the battery up completely. Opt for solar and you may have about 4.5 hours if you’re using 500W panels.

The battery cell uses LiFePO4 which should be good for 3500+ full life cycles to 80% usage. It’s durable as well, and should not have any issues with bumps or bruises.

On the front is a nice large LCD panel that provides a quick glance look at real-time battery status. You’ll be able to easily identify remaining discharge (percentage), total output power, the status of each port, input power, and more.

Camping and leisure fans will love having multiple options for plugging in Bluetooth speakers, a mini projector, DSLR, GoPro, fans, and other on-the-go gear.

Now to be fair, this is not ultra portable or lightweight. At 48 pounds, it definitely makes its presence felt. However, there are two handles at the top that allow for easier grabbing and carrying. The whole thing is a solid unit, wrapped in a dark grey with an orange accent.

UPS Mode is great to have for those times when power is shaky or prone to short outages. Plug the GRECELL in between a wall and your devices and the uninterrupted power mode kicks in within 10ms to keep your equipment running. This is ideal for bottle warmers, CPAP machines, or medical coolers.

The GRECELL 2000W portable power station is rated to work in temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit or as high as 104 degrees Fahrenheit so it’s likely tougher than you are. Also awesome is its two year warranty.

Airthings View Plus: Meet the well-rounded air quality monitor you didn’t know you needed

0

It’s not the heat that will get you, it’s the humidity. Or so says every dad ever.

How much do you think about air quality? If you’re prone to allergies or have asthma, you probably worry about air quality on an almost-daily basis. Particulates and chemicals are something you have to be very cautious around.

There are a lot of factors that go into the air that we breathe. Sure, there’s temperature and humidity, and the aforementioned particulates, but you’ve also got pressure, Carbon dioxide levels, and radon, too.

How does one keep up with all of these factors? There are a few really great mobile apps for weather and conditions; plus, you can always ask your digital assistant for help. But that’s not quite enough to get a true feel for the air around you.

The Airthings View Plus, priced $299, is the air quality monitor that you didn’t know existed. Moreover, it’s the all-important gadget you didn’t know your house was missing.

Designed to hang on your wall or sit on your counter, the Airthings View Plus connects to your Wi-Fi network to monitor air quality in your area. It’s a white flattened pill of a design that looks great in any environment with easily identifiable numbers and symbols.

Inside are a number of sensors, including radon, particulate matter, temperature, humidity, airborne chemicals (VOC), pressure, and Carbon dioxide.

The Airthings View Plus has a customizable display that users can adjust to show indoor or outdoor levels. If you live in an area prone to fires or heavy pollen, you might care more about the latter. But, if you’ve been waking with the occasional headache, perhaps you might want to see if the air in your home is the culprit.

The color-coded indicator makes it very easy to get an at-a-glance view of how things are going. Green, yellow, and red lights help you understand whether things are good, fair, or poor.

via Airthings

Pair the Airthings View Plus with its mobile app and you’ll find a whole other array of helpful tools. For starters, you’ll be able to identify any trends and determine if things are getting better. Additionally, you can receive push notifications for high radon levels.

Place additional View Plus devices around your home, or other Airthings products, and you can use the app to see an overview of each room.

Air quality is often overlooked but it’s vitally important to all of us. Standalone apps and individual sensors can go only go so far in helping us learn more about the air around us.

Head over to Airthings to learn more about the View Plus and its other products.

Ugreen offers high-powered chargers that don’t break the bank

0

There’s no such thing as having too many charging options. At least to me. Somehow, some way, or at some time, my cables tend to grow legs and walk away. Even worse is when a charger disappears.

If I come across a new charger, portable charger or power brick, I’m considering it for my personal collection. The tech behind them gets better with each generation and things get faster and more efficient.

Ugreen, a brand we’ve profiled a number of times, has a couple of charging solutions that recently crossed my path. And as it turns out, both have found themselves into outlets in my home and office. I love ’em and I think you will, too.

Nexode 45W Mini Charger

First up is the Ugreen Nexode 45W Mini Charger, a brand new product to the company lineup. Priced just $39, it’s a pint-sized charger with a pair of USB Type-C outlets.

This is exactly the sort of charger that I look for when travelling as it can power my phone and a Chromebook at the same time. Or, overnight I’ll plug in a portable charger so that I can have that with me when I’m out and about.

At 45W, that’s really fast and powerful stuff. In fact, depending on what I’m charging, it may be more than enough. Thanks to the Gallium Nitride (GaN) tech, chargers like these are not just fast but they’re efficient, intelligent, and they stay cool, too.

The unit is roughly the same size as the charger that comes with your smartphone but it’s more versatile. And the prongs fold in so it can be tossed in a bag without fear of snagging or poking a hole.

Nexode 100W Charger

Need even more charging capability? You’ll definitely be interested in the Nexode 100W Charger. Not only does it dial up the number of ports, it increases the output, too.

Here, you’ll get four (three USB Type-C and one USB Type-A) ports to work with. All are rated with at least Quick Charge 3 and the Type-C have PD3.0 tech which means you’ll have all the juice you need for phones, tablets, earbuds, and other tech. Not bad at all for $80, is it?

Have a new flagship handset with incredibly fast charging support? We bet you didn’t get a charger that’s equipped to output that 45W or 65W that’s touted in ad copy. The Nexode 100W can push either of those and have plenty leftover for other devices.

Use either of the top two ports and you’ll get 100W of charging for your 2-in-1 device or laptop. Taking advantage of all four at the same time? Look for 45W and 30W output with Power Delivery (PD) for the top two and 5V 2.1A for the other two. In other words, the upper half is designed with Chromebooks and larger items while the others are for pretty much everything else.

Worried about knowing which port is the right one to use? Fear not, the charger will automatically detect what’s being plugged in and adapt itself based on the device.

Occasionally you’ll find 4-port chargers will eat up both outlets on a wall. While that is convenient if you’re only concerned with charging peripherals and tech, it may take away an outlet that would otherwise be used for a lamp or clock. That’s not the case here as the Nexode 100W leaves room for something else to plug into the wall.

Conclusion

I’m a big fan of affordable tech that makes my life easier. Both of the Ugreen options tick that box. For overnight stays and day-to-day usage the 45W Mini Charger is a terrific option. Travelling with others or need to keep a bagful of gear charged up? Opt for the 100W unit.

Head to Ugreen’s website to learn more about the brand and to check out additional fast chargers and products. Alternatively, you can purchase many of its devices at Amazon, too.

Veger MagOn Power Bank offers magnetic wireless charging on the go

0

We’re suckers for portable charging solutions. Just as phone batteries have gotten better and more powerful over the years so have these mobile accessories.

One of the more popular trends in portable charging over the last couple of generations is the MagSafe technology employed by Apple for its iPhones. The feature allows for quick connection to different devices with wireless charging capability.

Similarly, we’ve seen various brands try their hand at phone cases and rings for the back of Android handsets. With car docks and portable batteries to snap into place, it’s an increasingly common feature. Why? Because wireless charging is great and being able to quickly locate and “lock on” is equally awesome.

If your phone has wireless charging support, you’d be wise to add something with MagOn or universal magnetic support. The MagOn Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 10000mAh, from Veger, is a wallet-friendly option with lots of battery power.

The Veger Power Bank isn’t overly flashy with its black design and wrist strap, but that’s not why we’re here. We care more about its battery life and capability. But, before we move on, we’ll add that it weighs just 170g so it’s not very heavy. Moreover, when you carry that and your phone at the same time, you won’t feel burdened with a brick.

The MagOn Magnetic Wireless Power Bank was designed with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series in mind, but the included sticker magnet ring opens the door to all phones. As long as your phone case is less than 2mm thick, you can place the ring between your phone and case.

mind. It will work with cases designed to be compatible with MagSafe, or even if you don’t have a MagSafe case, don’t worry because it will still play nicely with your case as long as it is less than 2mm thick. Otherwise, simply peel off the backing and stick the ring on your handset.

Features

The Veger MagOn Magnetic Wireless Power Bank has a 10,000mAh battery capacity which should be sufficient to charge your phone two or three times over. Some of today’s higher end devices feature batteries between 4,000-5,000mAh so you’re looking for about two to be safe.

In addition to the magnetic aspect, the charger has three physical ports to work with. There’s a Lighting input with 18W/PD 3.0, a 20W USB-C PD 3.0/QC 3.0 port for charging the bank or an external device, and a USB-A port with Quick Charge 3.0/2.0 support. Suffice it to say, you can charge multiple devices at one time. The Qi-ready wireless charging function lets you charge other devices, like earbuds, and support speeds of up to 15W.

The Veger MagOn Magnetic Wireless Power Bank has built-in safeguards to help prevent issues like overcharging or overheating. Moreover, you can long press the power button to trickle charge lesser-demanding devices like earbuds.

Availability

You can learn more about the Veger MagOn Magnetic Wireless Power Bank by heading to the manufacturer’s website where it’s available to purchase for $80.

How to choose the right mileage tracking app for you

0

The right mileage tracking app can help you save time and money by keeping accurate records of your drives.

What are the best mileage tracking apps?

If you’re looking for a mileage tracking app on Google Play Store, there are a few things you should keep in mind to make sure you choose the right one for you.

First, consider what features are most important to you. Do you need an app that will track your routes automatically, or are you okay with manually entering your data?

Next, think about how much money you’re willing to spend on an app. There are many free options available, but they may not have all the features you want.

Finally, take some time to read reviews of different mileage tracking apps before making your decision. This will help you get a better idea of which ones are the best fit for your needs.

What features do most mileage tracking apps have?

Most mileage tracking apps will allow you to track your mileage, as well as the route that you took. Some apps will also allow you to track your fuel consumption and expenses. Additionally, many of these apps will offer features such as GPS tracking, so you can see exactly where you went and how far you traveled.

Do all mileage tracking apps require a GPS signal?

No, not all mileage tracking apps require a GPS signal. Some apps use the phone’s accelerometer to track movement and estimate distance traveled.

10 Tips for Maximizing Your Savings with a Mileage Tracking App

1. Use the app to track your mileage for both business and personal trips.
2. Compare your gas prices with local prices to make sure you’re getting the best deal.
3. Use the app to plan your routes ahead of time so you can avoid wasting gas.
4. Keep track of your car’s maintenance schedule and costs so you can budget accordingly.
5. Use the app to find discounts on gas and car services in your area.
6. Make sure you’re aware of all the features of the app so you can get the most out of it.
7. Use the app to set goals for yourself, such as saving money on gas or reducing your carbon footprint.
8. Share your progress with friends and family to stay motivated and on track.
9. Take advantage of any rewards or loyalty programs offered by the app or its partners.
10. Give feedback to the developers so they can continue improving the app for everyone’s benefit.

Mileage tracking apps are designed to make it easy to track your driving expenses for tax purposes or reimbursement.

What do you do to calm yourself or de-stress? Some people like to hit the gym and work out their aggression and emotion others like to sit back and binge a new series or favorite film. Whatever it is you do, it’s important to take time for yourself.

Should you have difficulty trying to figure out how to get started with mindfulness or downregulation, I might suggest checking out something from Buddha Board.

With three different options to choose from, Buddha Board’s products are designed to help you with living in the moment. They’re priced from around $18-$38 and each of them provides a slightly different approach to the same concept.

Our team was provided with samples of the Original Buddha Board, Enso, and Mini Buddha Board, giving each of them equal time around the office. Suffice it to say, they’ve slowly made their respective ways to the homes of friends and family.

The Buddha Board, and its variants, might be succinctly described as a blank canvas on which one might paint or doodle using a wet brush. Using only water, your creation slowly evaporates over a few minutes.

Spend a few minutes creating an image of flowers or trees, or simply bring the board to life with assorted shapes and you’ll find yourself slowing down mentally and emotionally. Once the image goes away you’ll have a blank board to start all over. Or, continue to revise and iterate the living image on your canvas in real time.

Buddha Board products are not just great for adults looking to destress; they’re an excellent creativity outlet for younger users. Nothing is permanent, except for the board itself provided you take proper care of it.

Original Buddha Board

  • Buddha Board “canvas” (12″ high x 9″ wide x 1/4″ thick)
  • Sturdy waterproof stand, complete with a roomy reservoir for water & separate grooves for holding both the board & brush
  • Premium bamboo paintbrush with thick, ultra-soft bristles

Enso

  • Enso (10″ high x 10″ wide x 1″ thick)
  • Portable Enso that folds into its own small easel stand
  • Premium refillable handle with thick, ultra-soft bristles

Mini Buddha Board

  • Mini Buddha Board (5″ high x 5″ wide x 0.5″ thick)
  • Portable Mini Buddha Board that folds into its own small easel stand
  • Premium mini paintbrush with thick, ultra-soft bristles

If you’re the type of person to sketch or doodle while on the phone, or one who likes to spend down time being creative, you may want to check out the Buddha Board website.

Checking out the Bitvae S2 Smart Electric Toothbrush

2

Everybody wants a white, healthy, beautiful smile. This motivates a lot of us to put in the work – brushing our teeth every morning and night. Too may times I’ve headed to a dentist appointment, proud of the effort I’ve dedicated to my pearly whites, only to hear the same repeated phrase: “You need to brush better.”

As I second-guess my brushing discipline and dental hygiene regimen upon leaving the dentist’s office, I always wonder, “How could I possibly brush any better?”

I had long considered the electric toothbrush approach to strengthen my dental care routine but found it hard to convince myself that an expensive toothbrush that needs charging and only adds the feature of vibrating bristles to my routine would ever be worth it. However, I was very intrigued by the many capabilities of the Bitvae S2 Smart Electric Toothbrush and jumped on the opportunity to see what it could offer my not-so-perfect smile.

via Bitvae

Bitvae S2 Smart Electric Toothbrush

The Bitvae S2 Smart Electric Toothbrush is an electric toothbrush that connects to an app on the user’s smartphone to allow them to monitor and customize their dental hygiene routine. When I first opened the box, I was greeted with a very pleasantly packaged toothbrush, USB charger, eight toothbrush heads, and a hard travel case.

The toothbrush itself is about nine inches long which, conveniently, is not much longer than my electric razor. The toothbrush fits easily into the sleek travel case which can also carry up to two brush heads (you may be able to stuff a few more, or the charger into the case if you tried hard enough).

The first thing I did after opening the box was plug in the toothbrush to make sure it had a full charge. The charger is a USB to a very small barrel jack and does not come with a USB block. I charged my toothbrush with my computer which I found kind of strange, but it worked. While the toothbrush was charging, I read the instruction manual to learn how to connect the smart toothbrush to my phone.

via Bitvae

To use the smart capabilities of the Bitvae S2 Smart Electric Toothbrush, the user needs to download the iSpruz app, which is free to download and does not take too much space. The install guide indicating how to connect the toothbrush to the app was very simple and straightforward – not much harder than connecting a pair of Bluetooth earbuds. Once the toothbrush was charged and the app was downloaded, I was ready to start brushing!

Brushing

Using the basic features of the toothbrush was very simple. Press once to turn on the toothbrush, press twice to change brushing modes. The brushing modes, indicated by an LED that lights up on the front of the toothbrush, were white, clean, soft, gum care, and smart. Each of first four modes were a preset duration and vibration frequency, programmed to help the user with the desired cleaning characteristic. The “smart” mode is left for the user to program a specific mode that they desire, which is easy to do in the app.

I found out very quickly on my first brush that the user is also given a warning that they are using too much pressure (which is a habit I apparently did very often) by lighting a red LED ring at the top of the brush and changing the frequency of vibration. In a much more subtle way, the toothbrush also gives a little blip of a frequency change every thirty seconds to indicate that the user is supposed to switch to a new zone of the mouth.

Using the Bitvae S2 Smart Electric Toothbrush left my mouth feeling quite clean. I was worried that not being able to use the pressure I was used to would leave some residue left on my teeth, but I was pleasantly surprised. I used the “white” and “clean” modes the most often but found that two minutes was not long enough for me to feel satisfied that I have been thorough enough. Thankfully, it was very easy to set my own time duration with the “smart” mode which I ended up using most often after that.

via Bitvae

iSpruz App

The iSpruz app is very clean-looking and easy to use with the Bitvae S2 Smart Electric Toothbrush. When I was ready to brush, I opened the app, tapped the “Start Brushing” button, and was guided through an entire two minutes of brushing being told how to angle my toothbrush and where in my mouth of focus at which times. Once the brushing session is over, the user has the option to record other dental hygiene care they did such as tongue cleaning, flossing, and mouthwash. The app then records the session and gives the user a grade. As far as I could tell, the score for each individual brushing session was graded based upon length and additional cleaning methods used. However, the home page features an overall dental care grade which also reflects the frequency of the user’s brushes.

After brushing with the app as a guide a few times, I got the hang of the good brushing habits they were teaching and stopped using the app while I was brushing every morning. After about four days without opening the app, I was worried that my brushes were not being recorded. I was very pleasantly surprised when I opened the app from my kitchen and the toothbrush (from the bathroom) immediately linked to my phone and uploaded all the brushing sessions that had accumulated since I had last opened the app. My brushing grade had also dropped from an “S” to a “B”, so I knew I needed to kick it into gear a little.

I was satisfied using the iSpruz app. It works very well with this brush. There were a few things though that I think could be added to make the app even more worthwhile. I found myself wishing that there was a way to let the app send me notifications that my brushing grade was dropping. Seeing that notification in the morning or at night would honestly motivate me not skip a brushing session. I also thought it would be neat to customize the music that played when you brush with the tutorial on your phone. Hearing my own music or different daily affirmations would cause me to open the app and use the guide while brushing more often. These features were not must-haves for me to use the product, but would enhance the usefulness of the app.

via Bitvae

Battery Life

To be honest, there is not much to say in terms of battery life. The claim is that it can last 100 hours, and I believe it. After using all the Bluetooth and memory storage features of the brush for two weeks, I was barely able to get the brush battery to fall below ninety percent. Being required to charge the brush battery at an unreasonable frequency is something I was very happy to avoid.

Conclusion

Trying out the Bitvae S2 Smart Electric Toothbrush I found my self consistently impressed. The packaging and contents of the box are high quality and very professional-looking. The toothbrush was very easy to setup and use without any electrical knowledge. The features included with the toothbrush itself are useful and the battery life is long enough not to worry about.

While I believe there could be some smart features that would really set this product at a high tier, the iSpruz app was easy to use, looked nice, and was quite useful in learning good brushing habits. I think it is safe to say that I will be using this toothbrush for a while, and I am hoping that my dentist notices my “better brushing.”

Finally, it is important for me to note another appealing aspect of the Bitvae S2 Smart Electric Toothbrush. When I saw the price of this toothbrush my jaw literally dropped. After using it for two weeks I expected to see a $90 to $120 price tag. But Bitvae sells the S2 Smart Electric Toothbrush on Amazon for only $40.

UWANT launches X100 cordless all-in-one wet dry vacuum cleaner with massive early adopter discount

0

Have you ever taken a look at the underside of your vacuum cleaner only to find a whole bunch of hair wrapped around the roller? Whether you have a pet or spouse with long hair, you’re bound to find that the hair ultimately wraps itself around the bottom, eventually hindering performance.

Cleaning up the roller is a pain in the butt, often requiring that you break out scissors or a knife. Who wants to do that? Not us.

China-based manufacturer UWANT recently introduced its latest vacuum cleaner, the all-in-one X100 which works on both wet and dry floors. Pegged with a retail price of $500, it kicks off with a pre-order discount of just $429.

About UWANT

One-touch Self-cleaning

When it comes time to charging the vacuum cleaner you can get it from zero to full in just three hours. What’s more, the one-touch self-cleaning automatically absorbs dirt and other gross things from the rollers. Using water and a scraping mechanism, it takes less than four minutes to clean the vacuum.

Patented Hair Cutting Device

During self-cleaning, the machine automatically starts the cutting any hair that may be wrapped around the brush. That way the vacuum stays nice and clean, running smoothly, and ready to pick up more.

Double Roller Brushes

The double roller brush design is like taking two passes across the surface at one. Indeed, it works well for dry surfaces and wet ones alike. The back brush comes along to remove water stains that may would otherwise be created by the front one. Goodbye, streaks.

Fitbit’s latest wearables bring in the new Google age

0

It’s been over a year since Google closed the financials to take ownership of Fitbit. Since then the two companies have been taking baby steps in integrations like Google Assistant. With the launch of three new wearables, Fitbit brings that marriage one step closer while keeping the same fitness roots we all love.

Inspire 3

At the bottom of the new lineup is the Inspire 3. At $100, the new entry-level Fitbit is a great wearable to gain access to the latest Fitbit features without breaking the bank. The thinnest and lightest design of the new Fitbits also boasts an impressive battery life of up to 10 days.

But that doesn’t mean it lacks in features. You still get to track key metrics 24/7 like activity, heart rate, sleep, stress, and more. Inspire 3 can capture all your movement, automatically tracking Active Zone Minutes, calories burned, distance, heart rate, and steps.

Being active is not the only need the Fitbit Inspire 3 has covered. Sleep modes are also onboard to make sure you recharge your internal battery. you’ll get insights into your sleep quality with Sleep Stages and Sleep Score, and can then try things like setting a bedtime reminder, a Smart Wake alarm, or guided breathing on your wrist to help improve your sleep over time.

You can pre-order your Fitbit Inspire 3 now for $100 with availability in retailers and shipments in September.

Versa 4

Next up in the lineup is the Versa 4. This has been a staple of the Fitbit lineup over the last few years and the general design hasn’t changed much. It also incorporates all of the features found in the Inspire 3. It does bring back the physical button that was removed with many critiques last year.

With the larger screen, the Fitbit Versa 4 adds a more traditional smartwatch user experience that revolves around fitness. You can track your daily readiness score to see all your day-to-day stats that help determine if you should work out or maybe focus on recovery.

You will also get an Activity Zone Minutes to set as a goal. With over 40 workouts to choose from and log into the app, Fitbit has you covered with the perfect companion in the Versa 4. This includes new options for HIIT, CrossFit, and snowboarding. Onboard GPS can be activated while on walks, taking a run, or using maps.

Heart rate tracking is back as well to always make sure you are in a healthy range. The Fitbit Versa will actively scan to check for signs of irregular rhythms like atrial fibrillation. If this happens, you will get a notification to seek medical attention.

Fitbit estimates that you should get up to six days of battery life on the Versa 4 and you can get a full day’s worth of charge back with quick charge in around 12 minutes. Pricing for the Versa 4 starts at $230 and includes a Premium membership for the first six months.

Sense 2

Rounding out the new lineup is the Fitbit Sense 2. The new top-tier device encompasses all the great options of its siblings and ups the technology even further. The biggest addition is stress management with Body Response.

This new suite of monitoring focuses on your heart rate, heart rate variability, and skin temperature to better understand your body when under stress. A Check-in button will then help you walk through management sequences like breathing to build resilience over time.

Health metrics are also heavily featured and include the Sleep Profile and Afib detention of the Versa 4, but the Sense 2 adds a SpO2 oxygen sensor to take the monitoring a step further. This will log metrics into the Fitbit app to give you a better idea of your daily oxygen levels and trends.

Battery life is rated to be similar to the six full days on the Sense 2. The fast charge can regain you that same full day’s endurance with just 12 minutes on the charger. Pricing for the new Fitbit Sense 2 starts at $300.

You can pre-order either the Versa 4 or the Sense 2 from Fitbit.com with shipments and global retailers coming in the fall.

Google Goodness

The new dynamics with Google and Fitbit started with adding Google Assistant. This year the Versa 4 and Sense 2 will also be able to access to Google Wallet. This is great news for Android users that found Fitbit pay to lack many banking options. No more struggling to not set up a payment method only getting an error that your financial institute isn’t supported. If you have your card already set up on Google Wallet you will soon be able to have it on your Fitbit watch as well.

You will soon be able to use on-wrist navigation with Google Maps with ease on your new Fitbit. Having this functionality is a must for those that travel frequently or even take long runs. This is another welcome addition to the Fitbit ecosystem making it a compelling option over something like Garmin or even Android Wear.

Fashionable as Ever

Rounding out Fitbit’s announcement is a partnership for designer watch bands for the Versa 4 and Sense 2 from the team at Brother Vellies. This includes multiple options for 24mm bands as well as a custom charging cable for the Versa 4. These premium options should raise the bar for those looking for a more fashion-focused watch band for $55 in woven leather black or oak.

PSA: Reset your Plex account after data breach

0

If you use Plex, you most likely woke up to an email about the company’s support team sending you details about a recent data breach. Plex notes that this includes emails, usernames, and encrypted passwords. The security team is requiring all users to immediately reset their passwords using the link here.

Plex claims that the database breach was discovered after an audit saw suspicious activity and was able to track down the issue with a third party accessing the private data. The company is reviewing this issue and notes that while all this information was hashed and secured, the reset nuke is still the best way to ensure everyone is good to move forward.

When resetting your account, I’d also make a note to check the “sign out of connected devices after password change” box. This will make sure that any apps you have been using in the past are booted off your account to make sure no one has access while still using your old credentials.

This is a good time to do a personal heat check on security and possibly enable two-factor authentification on your Plex account. We are huge proponents of this additional security measure on all your accounts. Plex offers this under your account settings and is just a QR scan away for many of the popular 2FA apps to help you add this layer of security.
