Pachinko is one of Japan’s many cultural phenomena. Any visitor to Japan, if he is a gambler, should try playing pachinko slot machines. This game is insanely popular with the locals, and in almost every city you can find halls that offer all kinds of machines. What is the game, how to play and how to enjoy the process?
What is Pachinko?
Pachinko is a Japanese game that is a combination of pinball and slot machines. Pachinko uses a lot of small metal balls that look like car bearings. The original Pachinko machines were completely manual and did not require an electric drive. Over the years, the mechanism of the Pachinko automaton has been improved. In addition, digital versions of the Pachinko came to the gambling and online casino market.
History of the Pachinko
The name of pachinko slot machines comes from “pachi pachi,” the snapping of small objects in a crackling fire. Pachinko resembles the game of pinball. The player buys metal balls, pours them into the machine and then adjusts the rate at which they are fired on the playing field with a lever. A stream of balls then pours down through a maze of different obstacles. Most of the balls disappear, but some of them fall into special holes, and the game continues, only with certain changes on the playing field.
How Do the Machines Work?
This slot machine is a kind of vertical pinball, where your task is to get the ball into a hole, after which the screen will start spinning characters (as in a regular slot). Dropped 3 of the same – congratulations, you win. Winnings you get in the form of balls, which will fall into a special basket (sometimes they can simply be credited to a special card).
If the basket is full and you still win, then you need to press the staff call button and you will be brought a new one, and the filled one will be put under the chair. It is forbidden to do it yourself. As soon as you decide that it is time to leave or just want to go to another machine, and you have a lot of baskets, then you have to call the staff again and your balls will be taken to a special machine, which will count them, and you will be given a check, with their number and value.
The Rules of the Game in Japan
Pachinko is the most common slot machine in Japan. In its classic version, it is a vertically standing wooden panel with a huge number of all sorts of metal pins, as well as a device for launching balls, which in the course of the game must move on this panel.
If you find yourself in a pachinko game room and decide to try your hand at this simple but fascinating game, follow these rules:
After choosing a slot machine, go to the machine, issue balls (usually located to the left of the slot machine), put money in his coin slot and get the appropriate number of metal balls.
Take hold of the trigger lever, which is located on the bottom right side of the slot machine. Keep in mind that the angle of the lever determines the strength of the ball shot. The more the lever is turned to the right, the more force the balls will fly out. You can adjust the launching force by choosing the optimal position of the lever.
If luck smiles on you and you win the balls, do not lose them. The pachinko machine is very generous when giving out big winnings. It can overfill its own reservoir, overfill the reserve bottom tray, and fill everything and everyone around with these very metal balls, which will very quickly scatter all over the gaming room. To avoid such a result, be sure to stock up on extra trays.
Remember that when you win in pachinko balls you get more than just balls. Not only that, but it’s an opportunity to play these machines further, using the won props. In addition, the balls you can exchange for prizes – souvenirs, various small items, perfume or sweets. If you want to get the cash equivalent of your victory – well, you can easily exchange the prizes for money.
Online Version of Pachinko
There was a time when Pachinko could be played exclusively in Japanese casinos but Pachinko has gained worldwide popularity. Today, you can play Pachinko on Winz.io. Winz.io Casino has realistic virtual Pachinko games, identical to the real slot machines found in the best casinos in Las Vegas.
Conclusion
The range of machines in Japan is incredibly wide. But there are some leaders here as well. Among Japanese slot machines, the Pachinko is the favorite one. Pachinko is a low-stakes game that isn’t exactly earned in cash, rather than special prize tokens that you can buy from another vendor.

Samsung moved the needle in mobile design once again when they unveiled the original Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. This new foldable take on the legacy flip phone took many by surprise and we questioned whether it was last. I’ve been testing the latest iteration with the Flip 4 thanks to AT&T and this device is now the standard, not the outlier.
Design
As mentioned, the hinged screen is the star of this show called the Galaxy Z Flip 4. Essentially, Samsung has a traditional 6.7-inch device that then folds into a compact 3.5-inch unit when closed. The screen is flexible glass and does have a noticeable crease, but you’ll quickly notice it fades from memory the more you use it.
Samsung has always been known for its vibrant screens and this is still true under this new technology. Colors and blacks pop off the display. When closed, the Flip 4 (I’ll be dropping the full name for most of this review) has a secondary cover screen that uses 1.9-inches of real estate to give you glanceable issues like notifications and clocks.
The right side of the Flip 4 contains the volume rockers and a recessed power button that also houses a fingerprint reader. The bottom has a dual speaker grill array and a USB-C charging port. The left side is void ports but does contain the SIM tray.
Software
Much like its larger sibling, the Flip 4 runs Android 12L with Samsung’s tweaks for the unique form factor. Most of the phone would be easily recognized as just another phone running One UI. And that’s a good thing. The Flip 4 seats itself very comfortably inside Samsung’s Galaxy lineup and fits right in with those peers.
Some of the Flip-centric software is the different orientations you can use the phone to accentuate apps. YouTube and a few other media applications allow you to have the screen propped halfway open to view the footage on the top half and share the bottom half with another app.
Another exclusive is the front, Cover Screen. The Flip 4 doesn’t have the real estate you see to have a fully functional experience while the phone is closed as we found on the Fold 4. However, Samsung still allows some interactions on this small display.
The Cover Screen is more like a scrolling widget screensaver. You can have glanceable information from the weather, calendar, and notifications. These are not actionable though. You need to open the Flip 4 to fully interact with the information.
Performance
I had zero issues with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 while testing. This is not only due to the three previous generations but also due to the long history of the Galaxy line in total. Samsung has built a very stable, smooth experience for Android users and that’s very present on the Z Flip 4.
Pair that with the always top-notch hardware Samsung builds and you have a flagship phone no matter how it closes. Transitions are snappy. Bouncing from app to app is a breeze. Watching media or the occasional game never trips it up. With 8GB of RAM and the new Snapdragon 8+ you’ll be hard-pressed to slow this device.
Cameras
Another positive is the upgraded cameras. Just as I mentioned in my Fold 4 review, the new shooters on the Flip 4 bring it back to true flagship quality. The previous generations had always compromised on the cameras, but that is not the case in 2022.
I found myself really liking the quality of the pictures I captured with the cameras. Whether it was with the 12MP main sensor or the widescreen option, it doesn’t disappoint. Even the 10x zoom can impress.
1 of 5
I’m not a big selfie guy, but the front camera is also on par with other top-tier phones. You can easily snap a quick shot to share on socials. Light can come into play a bit more on the 10MP version here, but still not bad.
Battery life
One place where you can possibly find a slight is the battery pack Samsung had to squeeze into this small frame. With just a 3,700mAh battery, if you spend a ton of time streaming on the main screen you may need to grab a charger later in the afternoon.
I didn’t have this issue in my testing, but my usage is pretty light during the workday with more heavy usage at night. With this balance, I found myself able to get through a full day from around 7 AM to 10:30 PM without issue.
Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 isn’t just a great addition to the Galaxy line, it’s a step forward for all Android devices. These forward-thinking takes on form factors are what established giants in the market should do. The Flip 4 is another option for users who don’t want their giant slap phone to always take up their entire pocket.
You can snag the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 over at AT&T for $27.78 for the 128GB storage model or $29.45 for the 256GB edition. If you don’t want a 36-month agreement, full-price retail is $1,000. Either way, this is a decent price for essentially a Galaxy S with a foldable screen.

After five years of creating Android (Go Edition), Google boasts over 250 million devices running the software daily in 2022. Apart from making the software update process easy to complete, the firm shares other new features to keep users updated on how to further benefit from the use of the Android 13 (Go Edition).
We share three main advantages of the software below. The company focuses on three critical qualities – reliability, usability, and customization.
Reliability – Better software updates
It is easy to get direct software updates without bothering about the process taking up large space on your device. With Google Play System updates, Go devices are able to receive regular important software updates outside major Android releases.
This is crucial, for it makes critical updates delivered quickly and in a simple manner without encroaching on too much space on your device. This type of software update ensures you get the device stays up to date without waiting for the latest updates from your phone manufacturer.
Usability – Discover content tailored to your needs
The Discover feature lets you swipe to the right of your phone screen from the home screen to ascertain curated articles and other content that the Android (Go Edition) has built just for you. Go’s built-in intelligence gathers information as soon as you start using your device, and will share with you the information you cherish most.
Customization – Adjust your device’s look
Android Go enables each user to adjust his or her phone to fit personal needs that reflect peculiar tastes. With the use of Material You, users can customize the color scheme of their devices to synchronize with the wallpaper. Android Go is the first to have support for Material You.
It explores a solid humanistic approach to design, celebrating the tension between design sensibility and personal preference. The best thing about Material You is that it doesn’t shy away from emotions.
This feature makes it possible for apps to adapt to new screen sizes, device types, input modalities, and contexts. This gives people new ways of responding to ideals of tailoring their devices to their unique needs.
As much as we might love our fancy, high-priced robot vacuum cleaners, they’re not the sort of thing that everyone can enjoy. Much like those who chase after flagship phones, only so many people are willing to spend top dollar on tech — even if it’s an amazing device.
While there’s definitely a market for a robot vacuum that sweeps and mops and automatically empties its content, there’s a larger demand for entry-level models. AIRROBO understands this and its newest product, the P20, is that sort of “every man” product.
Priced around $130-$150, the AIRROBO P20 is packed with about as many specifications and capabilities as you can get for the money.
With a familiar design, the vacuum rises about three inches above the ground and has a unique diamond-like pattern. It’s an unnecessary detail to be sure but it does give it a bit of personality.
The P20 robot vacuum can clean up to 1,500 square feet on a full charge, or for about two hours of continuous running. That should be more than sufficient for the average household who needs to run daily maintenance and cleanups.
There are four different cleaning modes to toggle based on your needs – automatic, spot, spiral and edge cleaning.
One of the things that plagued early generations of these types of products was that they didn’t know to stop or turn around at the edge of steps or ledges. That’s not the case here as the AIRROBO P20 is able to avoid falling downstairs and will automatically turn around.
Similarly, the anti-collisions capability provides peace of mind. I didn’t have to worry much about the vacuum hitting a pair of shoes or a dog toy on the floor. But, it is worth noting that it might accidentally grab an errant shoe string or USB cable. If you’re running the vacuum daily, you’ll get in the habit of trying to keep things off the floor.
The 2800 Pa suction power surprised me as it was much stronger than I expected given its price point. Most robot vacuum cleaners with this much suction are priced at least $300 or more. I found it to be great at picking up common dirt, dust, and debris around the home.
The dust bin holds 600ml, or a little over two cups worth of dirt. I’ve found that I can get multiple runs without having to worry about emptying it into the trash. For reference I have a dog and a cat in the house and run the vacuum every other day. On occasion I’ll find an errant twist-tie or rubber band in the dust bin alongside pet hair and dirt.
I was also pleased at how quiet the AIRROBO P20 was at just 55 decibels. Not that I have any infants in the house, but I know it won’t wake anyone up were someone to be napping during runtime.
Conclusion
The AIRROBO P20 is a no-frills robot vacuum cleaner. That is to say it doesn’t do a ton of things, but what it does, it handles them well.
It doesn’t mop or automatically empty its contents after a run. It does not integrate with Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. It does not support multiple floors. How critical are these features? For a lot of people, none of these things matter.
The vacuum is easy to set up, relatively quiet, and rather impressive in its suction. The app is intuitive and straightforward, giving users the ability to create scheduled runs, view maps, and more. And depending on how much traffic you have, you won’t need to empty its contents all that often.
The main floor on my house is split fairly evenly between hard floor and carpet. Moreover, I have multiple floors that need cleaned regularly, or at least semi-regularly. To that end, the P20 isn’t a solution for my needs, at least not at home. My dad, however, is a prime candidate for this one. As someone who doesn’t need mopping, and lives in a ranch-style home, the AIRROBO P20 is an excellent option.
Along those lines, I really like this one for my office. A simple square of a unit with no major traffic, no mopping to worry about, and no obstructions, it’s an ideal situation. I can run the P20 while I work and move out of its way when it gets to the desk, and be fully finished inside of a half hour.
Learn more about the AIRROBO P20 at the manufacturer’s website where you can purchase it for about $130 as of today. It’s also available through Amazon where it currently lists for around $130 (with an instant coupon).
Need to keep your family safer online? Google has offered a new way of doing that this year with Family Link, offering families multiple means of technology needed to create healthy, positive digital habits. Features such as screen time, content filters, and other controls and settings help users across the globe to find the right balance.
Although Family Link has been in existence for five years, this new experience offers the same flexibility at its core but it is now easier to keep one’s family safer online.
Family Link – Streamlined for parents
Parents can see the highlights tab on a Pixel 7 phone with snapshots of the child’s activity. They also can use the Controls tab to manage settings, and there’s a Location tab showing a map and the location of the user’s children.
After having studied how parents made use of the Family Link tool, Google redesigned it to bring to the forefront the most used features. Parents can now find their favorite features easily with this newly designed user interface. Such activities as setting screen time limits, approving apps, and blocking can be done quickly and more efficiently.
Guiding kids to age-appropriate content
Parents know how important it is to help their children choose safe entertainment. According to Google, many parents have lauded the ability to effectively guide their children to age-appropriate content. In view of this, the new Family Link UI makes it easy for parents to find these features and activate them.
They can supervise children’s activities by setting screen time limits for several devices or for specific apps. Content can be restricted and parents can manage app data permissions.
It is possible to set controls that last for only 24 hours especially when children need a little more time in a day. Parents can set that brief period using the “Today Only” setting. The rest of the settings for other days remain intact, and won’t be affected.
With the ability to spot all your children in the same location, ring your child’s device if it is hidden away from sight, and turn on notifications to be alerted when a child arrives or leaves a specific location, Family Link is your ideal tool for having peace of mind.
In a bid to innovate on its user experience for mobile devices, Samsung recently introduced the latest version of its One UI (v5) offering to millions of Galaxy users worldwide.
One UI 5 will be a stable build for users of Galaxy flagships, such as the S22 series, Z Flip4 and Z Fold4 (read our review). It’s amazing what some of the features offer in the sense of redesigned lock screen used for customizing wallpaper, clock face, and color palettes.
This is the company’s most personalized mobile experience yet, and it’s meant to give people greater options for users to fine-tune their devices to their own needs.
Important features of One UI 5
Bixby Text Call: Users can now communicate in a way that’s most convenient for them. This feature allows people to answer phone calls by simply typing a message.
Routines & Modes – Customized settings for different aspects: You could manage settings for sleeping, relaxing exercising, and driving. This feature allows you to mute notifications while exercising or driving, or even playing music.
Video Wallpaper: This comes from the makers of the Good Lock app, making it possible and easy to trim a video, transforming your most memorable moments into moving visuals.
Stacked Widgets: Now you can have this feature that lets you drag and drop widgets on top of each other. If you like, you may swipe left or right to quickly and easily scroll through each widget as a means to free up space on the home screen of your device.
Smart Suggestions: This feature is meant to streamline mobile tasks and activities connected to widgets. It works based on your usage history. The more important apps and actions you often make are now easy for you to access and manage.
Another aspect of the One UI 5 is the convenience it offers and the security giving users peace of mind. Your private information stays private. If you make moves not secure, such as unwittingly sharing your credit or debit card, you get a warning.
The best thing about the One UI 5 is the users’ suggestions and requirements bringing it to life. Samsung listened intently to make the One UI 5 a unique experience for everyone who cares to use it.

Thus, Qualcomm unites its technologies with those of partners to usher in a revolutionary device for the next generation of gaming.

The EKSA StarEngine E5000 Pro Gaming headphones, $70, offer gamers a fairly robust set of features for their price. Not long ago we might have paid twice as much for less capable cans.
Arriving in a purple and grey box, the Star Engine E5000 have a modern design with bright green accents. They ear cups are large and soft and made to be worn for hours on end. The memory foam is very comfortable as is the headband’s cushion.
The headphones are interesting to look at and match the aesthetics that one might expect from a current gaming setup. Between the grilles, the neon green lines and wires, and optional LED light effect, they look pretty fierce.
The headset comes with a silky bag with a drawstring, a detachable microphone, and three cables for connection. Indeed, you can plug these in via a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C, and USB Type-A. This means they’ll work with PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile devices alike.
The left ear cup is where you’ll find buttons for muting the mic, toggling the light effect, and switching between stereo and 7.1 surround sound. It’s also where the dial is for adjusting volume. They’re easy to locate without looking at them, but you might need a few wears before you’re comfortable doing so.
I found the EKSA Star Engine E5000 to be a tad heavier than expected but that did not hinder long-term wearing. The same goes for size as they are a bit larger than I might like to wear for music.
Keeping in mind these are not Bluetooth headphones with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), I cannot imagine wearing these outside of a rec room or office. Not that this is a knock, though, as they are made for sitting down to play games.
The headset does include a pair of microphones, one for calls and one for identifying noise. Using AI, it can discern the difference between human voice and other ambient sounds. This Environmental Noise Cancellation [ENC] technology reportedly suppresses up to 99.8% of environmental noise.
As for the sound, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality in both settings. The 7.1 surround sound works very well in gaming. Given sound design is so important for a lot of games today, I appreciate being able to hear enemies sneak up on me. The little whirs and bells that get lost when sitting across a room from a TV are front and center with Star Engine E5000 Pro.
If you play games on a Windows-based PC, you’ll appreciate the desktop application which features different equalizer settings and more control over the sound.
Switching over to music, the Star Engine E5000 Pro tends to favor highs with bass sometimes lacking the punch you might get from more traditional headphones. That said, they feel clear and crisp but not “tinny”. Play around with the desktop app a bit and you may lock on to something you like quite a bit.
Conclusion
The Star Engine E5000 is priced for mass appeal and thanks to its features, it’s built that way, too. Despite their weight and size, I find them to be very comfortable even for longer sessions.
While sound quality is good for music, it’s not superb. But switching to 7.1 surround and gaming, and their main raison d’etre, they fare much better.
I appreciate that EKSA tosses three cables in the box for flexibility between consoles and computers. It’s a small gesture, sure, but it further helps justify the $70 price.
