LG announces award winning CordZero A9 Kompressor with Steam Power Mop at CES 2023

0

If you’re like me, you like a clean house, but you don’t like cleaning it. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for the most efficient and quickest way to clean, like the winner of the CES 2023 Innovation Award from LG. The new CordZero A9 Kompressor with Steam Power Mop is an all-in-one floor cleaner.

It’s LG’s first-ever cordless stick vacuum to include a steam mopping function, allowing you to clear the floor of all debris with the vacuum and then polish it clean. The most noteworthy feature of the CordZero A9 Kompressor with Steam Power Mop, is obviously, the steam mopping function.

The detachable mopping pads are kept at a temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit, which helps clean up even the toughest of stains without the use of detergents. For instance, it would be more effective at removing hardened chocolate than a traditional wet mop.

Another fantastic benefit of the steam mop is the natural disinfectant properties heat has on surfaces. This is an all-natural way to kill bacteria on your floors without the use of harsh chemicals.

LG has also come up with some smart ways to prevent overheating or water leaking everywhere. The nozzle on the Steam Power Mop uses two sensors to prevent the steam generator from overheating. Additionally, the water supply system uses sensors that will ensure the mopping pad stays wet unless it is lifted off of the floor or is held stationary for 20 seconds, the mop pad will also stop rotating after a minute of inactivity.

The All-in-One Tower is LG’s docking station that comes with the CordZero A9 Kompressor with Steam Mop. It is capable of fast charging the stick vacuum, automatically emptying the dustbin, includes a replaceable dust bag, and has a display that shows real-time status updates.

There’s no word on price or availability yet, but keep an eye on LG’s site for any updates.

The Brava Glass smart oven debuts with a $1995 price tag and cooks with the power of light

0

CES 2023 is loaded with gadgets for every room in your home, including the kitchen. One of the companies hoping to make it into this sacred room is Brava with its latest smart oven named the Brava Glass.

While there are other smart ovens on the market, the Brava Glass stands out from the crowd due to its cooking technology, light. That’s right, the Brava Glass smart oven uses three light bulbs on the top and three on the bottom to create heat. In that way, it shares a lot with the Easy Bake Oven, except the Brava Glass uses supercharged light bulbs capable of creating temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

This makes it possible to cook in some new and unique ways. For example, the Brava Glass doesn’t need to preheat like a typical oven. Think of it as turning on a light in your home. You don’t have to wait for the lightbulb to warm up, you just flip the switch and it is instantly on. The same thing happens with the Brava Glass.

Once you turn it on, it’s at full power and the light begins cooking whatever you’ve inserted. Another way the Brava Glass makes cooking unique is that you can cook foods together that require different cooking temperatures.

Since the Brava Glass uses three rows of light on the top and the bottom, the pan can be split into different zones that use separate temperatures. This allows you to cook an entire meal at once on the same pan and have each vegetable or protein come out perfectly cooked.

Now, what about the smart features? Well, the Brava Glass has a touchscreen located on the top with access to over 7,000 recipes. It will walk you through the entire process making it easy enough for even the most novice home chef.

There’s also a camera located inside the oven that lets you check on the food inside while it’s cooking, and even better, you can watch it live on your phone with the app. With the previous Brava oven, the camera was the only way to watch the process, but the latest Brava Glass includes a tinted window on the door.

Adding the glass door was not easy for an oven that uses light to cook. As you can imagine, the light produced by the bulbs is extremely bright to create temperatures up to 500F. That’s why Brava had to use a glass panel with a 97% tint on it which allows you to safely view the cooking process without affecting it.

One more way the Brava Glass is smart is with a built-in meat thermometer which helps you monitor when the meat is fully cooked and helps the oven keep track of this as well. And finally, the Brava Glass is able to imitate several devices with modes for sear, toast, bake, slow cook, dehydrate, air fry, and more.

The Brava Glass smart oven is now available for pre-order, with shipments expected in early 2023. It will be quite pricey though, at $1995 for the Chef’s Choice bundle, which includes two glass trays, two metal trays, a muffin tin, square pan, loaf pan, egg tray, and cast iron chef’s pan.

The Trova Home smart safe secures your belongings and can be opened with your phone’s biometric sensors

0

One of the most unique products we came across during CES 2023 was the Trova Home biometric smart safe. This discreet and stylish-looking safe blends in with your surroundings, making it easy to keep it out or stash it away somewhere hidden.

Behind its modern style, the Trova Home packs in two secure locks, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a host of smart features. Paired with the Trova app, it gives you the ability to unlock your safe using the biometric sensors on your smartphone, such as the fingerprint sensor or face unlock.

It also allows you to unlock it remotely from the app or with NFC by tapping your phone against the safe. Furthermore, you can set a timer to unlock Trova Home, or bypass the app entirely, and open it by using a sequence of button presses with the power button.

When you’re away, the Trova app keeps you informed with real-time notifications in the event that someone is tampering with or trying to move the Trova Home. That way, no one can attempt to break into your safe without your knowledge.

That’s already enough to pique my interest, but the app goes even further by giving alerts when the lid is left open or when the battery needs to be charged. It even includes a humidity and temperature sensor.

On top of all of the sensors packed into the Trova Home, it also includes some practical features built-in. For example, inside of the safe are two USB Type-C ports for charging devices, and a removable sliding tray to keep items organized. To up the security of the box, Trova Home makes it possible to bolt it down to a surface, such as a bookshelf or a desk. Plus, there’s an internal o-ring to create a seal and keep odors contained.

Lastly, the Trova Home measures 14.5 x 7.75 x 4.25 inches externally, and the inside measures 13.5 x 6.2 x 3 inches. This should make it large enough to store important documents or some jewelry, while also allowing for it to be discreet.

Without a doubt, the Trova Home is the smartest home safe I’ve ever seen, and one of the most elegantly designed. Trova Home is currently available from the Trova website for pre-order starting at $549. It is slated to begin shipping on January 15, 2023.

Android Auto update is unveiled at CES 2023 along with improvements to digital car keys and Google built-in for cars

0

This year at CES 2023, Google launched the new Android Auto experience, and announced expanded digital car key sharing as well as improvements for cars with Google built-in.

Android Auto

Let’s get started with the refreshed Android Auto that rolled out to users starting on January 5, 2023. This overhaul was first previewed back at Google I/O last year, and it includes improvements to the UI and features to help you while behind the wheel.

The three pillars of the latest version of Android Auto are “navigating where you’re going, communicating with friends and family, and playing your music or podcasts.” To that end, Maps is now closer to the driver’s seat to ensure you can keep track of where you are at all times and not miss any important turns. The split-screen layout has also been optimized to be adaptable for different screen sizes, such as widescreen, portrait, and everything in between.

Media cards have received a Material You redesign, and Google has finally added one of the most requested features, a seekable progress bar for music and podcasts. Android Auto also features a host of new shortcuts to make it easier to complete tasks on the go.

For starters, the quick launcher lets you access your most recently used apps, and there are shortcuts to speed up replying to messages or calling your favorite contacts. Furthermore, Google Assistant will now provide smart suggestions like missed call reminders, arrival time sharing, and instant access to music or podcasts.

That’s not all though, Google says that you’ll soon be able to make WhatsApp calls using the latest Pixel and Samsung phones with Android Auto as well.

Digital car keys

Digital car keys allow you to lock, unlock, and start compatible cars. While you’re already able to share keys across Pixel and iPhones to give access to friends or family, soon you’ll be able to do the same with Samsung and Xiaomi phones later this year.

Google built-in

With Google built-in, you get Google Assistant, Google Maps, and apps from the Play Store on your car’s display without the need for a phone. Some cars that already support this are the newly announced Honda Accord Touring 2023, and select cars from Volvo, Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and Renault. Ford and Lincoln are expected to join the club later this year as well.

One of the new features now available is Google’s new HD map that gives drivers “precise road details like lane markers, signs and road barriers to support automakers’ assisted and autonomous driving technology for safer, more hands-free driving on select roadways.” HD map is rolling out first to the Volvo EX90 and Polestar 3.

The Waze app is also heading to more cars with Google built-in, starting with select Renault vehicles.

And finally, some good news for those of you who like to stream videos while parked in your EV. YouTube will soon be joining Tubi and MGM+ via the Google Play Store with more apps expected to come in the future.

Google is working on a seamless way to transfer Spotify tracks between your devices

0

Have you ever been listening to a podcast in the car and wished you could seamlessly switch over to your earbuds once you arrived at work? How about rocking out to a fantastic station on your smart speaker and wishing you could transfer it to the car with just a couple of taps?

Google has already made this a possibility with Android 13 and YouTube or YouTube Music. Now, the company is looking to bring this same convenience to Spotify users. This year, you can expect the feature to roll out and you’ll be able to quickly and easily transfer music playing on Spotify between Spotify Connect devices through the Android media player notification.

That means you’ll be able to do it even from the lock screen with only a single tap, making it easier than ever to listen to your favorite podcast or playlist when and where you want.

Taking it a step further, Google is trying to simplify the process even more by anticipating which devices you want to transfer to with notifications. It will work like this, while you walk around your smartphone will determine which devices are nearby using wireless technologies, such as Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi, and ultra-wideband.

Once it has discovered which compatible devices are nearby, it will try to identify which device you’d most likely like to transfer to based on your current activity. A notification will then pop up on your smartphone asking you if you’d like to transfer the stream and with one tap you’ll be able to take your music or podcast wherever you go.

This is the kind of frictionless experience that can only happen thanks to Google’s integration of connectivity protocols such as, Fast Pair, Nearby Share, and Chromecast. These technologies have helped millions of users easily connect headphones, share files, or browse videos on their phone and transfer them to the big screen.

XGIMI unveils MoGo 2 Pro projector with upgraded auto focus and keystone correction

0

XGIMI has more than just a projector to show off this year at CES 2023. Sure, the company brought along its latest MoGo 2 Pro projector, winner of the German Design Award, but what’s more impressive than the svelte compact design is the technology behind it.

The MoGo 2 Pro features an upgraded version of XGIMI’s Intelligent Screen Adaptation technology, or ISA for short. With ISA 2.0, XGIMI’s MoGo Pro 2 is able to quickly and accurately, auto-focus and automatically keystone correct within a few seconds.

Combined with the built-in 3D ToF and CMOS sensor, ISA 2.0 is able to send signals to the wall and measure the distance, as well as the angle, and auto-correct for any variations within seconds. What that means for you, is that no matter where you move the MoGo 2 Pro, the picture will always be sharp and straight.

As someone who has set up a few projectors, this is a feature that is invaluable, especially if it’s a portable projector like the MoGo Pro 2. There’s nothing worse than setting up the projector for movie night and wasting time correcting for focus and a warped image.

Besides quick auto focus and keystone correction, ISA 2.0 can also avoid objects on the wall such as outlets or pictures by resizing the video area automatically. Furthermore, it can automatically detect a screen and align the video with it and the intelligent eye protection feature will dim the light if a presence is detected in front of the projector preventing damaging your eyes.

All of this is quite impressive for an entry-level projector. Here’s what else we know about the XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro. It uses an FHD resolution of 1080p with support for HDR 10, has a maximum brightness of 350 ANSI lumens, and is capable of projecting a screen of 200 inches.

We can assume it also runs Android TV like the previous MoGo Pro, with support for Chromecast, Bluetooth, USB, and HDMI connections. Plus, it should still include sound by Harman Kardon.

Not too bad for a projector that only stands 6.54-inches tall and weighs in at 2.2 pounds.

While the storage is extremely low on this tablet, thankfully, TCL has included a microSD card slot that supports up to 512GB of additional storage.

That should be plenty of space to load it up with videos to enjoy with the TAB 8 LE’s stereo speakers. There’s also a 5MP front and rear camera on the TAB 8 LE in case you need to snap any photos or want to jump on a video call.

The TCL TAB 8 LE will be available in late January with a starting price of $159.

Headphones

The TCL MOVEAUDIO Air are the brand’s latest pair of true wireless earbuds. The MOVEAUDIO Air uses Bluetooth 5.2 and provides three different EQ modes, bass,  balanced, and podcast. The 50mAh battery is good for up to 9 hours of consecutive playback and 32 total hours when using the charging case.

Fast charging promises two hours of playback with only a 15-minute charge, and there are four mics using DNN AI ENC for crystal-clear calls. The MOVEAUDIO Air earbuds are available now in the US for $40.

Smart glasses

TCL showed off two pairs of smart glasses this year at CES. The most interesting of the two has to be the RayNeo X2. This pair of augmented reality glasses makes use of binocular full-color holographic optical waveguide Micro-LED displays, an industry first. TCL says they are intended to provide a heads-up display for tasks such as smart navigation, automatic translation, photography, and playing music. They are expected to be available for developers sometime in 2023.

The TCL NXTWEAR S is the company’s next pair of smart glasses which places the equivalent of a 130-inch HD display on your face using dual 1080p Micro OLED displays. The NXTWEAR S is slated for release in the first quarter of 2023 starting at $399.

Virtual Reality

Last, but not least, is the TCL NXTWEAR V, the concept virtual reality headset with a 108-degree field of view and a 1512ppi pixel density. Details on the lightweight NXTWEAR V are scarce at the moment, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for additional info.

Lock in Verizon’s Welcome Unlimited plan for $25 a month for the next three years

0

Looking to save some money on your phone plan this year? After the rising cost of just about everything in 2022, and the holiday spending, I’m sure we could all use a break on our mobile bill. I know I sure could.

Then Verizon has just the thing for you. With its current promo, Verizon is offering you a chance to sign up for its Welcome Unlimited plan for as little as $25 a month, per line, plus taxes and fees with Auto-Pay. You can even lock this price in for three years and bring your own phone.

With Verizon’s Welcome Unlimited plan, you’ll get unlimited talk, text, and data on Verizon’s 5G Nationwide network covering over 2,700 cities.

What’s the catch? Well, you’re going to have to sign up with four lines in order to drop the price down to $25 per line, plus taxes and fees with Auto-Pay. Not so bad for a family of four or more, but a little more difficult if you only have one or two people in your household.

Additionally, you must have Auto-Pay and paper-free billing enabled, or else the total will jump to $35 a month. As long as you’re ok with all of that, then you can check if your device is compatible with Verizon’s network and sign up on its website.

Your discount will be applied as a $180 promo credit per line over a 36-month period. If at any time one of your four lines becomes ineligible, upgrades, or cancels then the price guarantee will become void. So, it’s a good idea to make sure you’re all in for the long haul. That way you can save some money and avoid a price jump over the next three years.

Don’t sleep on this deal if you’re interested, it’s only good for a limited time and then it’ll be gone. You can sign up for the Welcome Unlimited promo with this link and check your device’s compatibility here.
