At CES 2023 we saw lots of innovative tech products, gaming laptops with lighter ergonomics, foldable productivity-focused notebooks, LG’s wireless TV, the best speakers, headphones, earbuds, and much more. Every tech brand showcases its best tech gadgets at Consumer Electronic Show and the tech brand Ampere (known for making fun functional tech) is no different.

Ampere announced its five new innovative products including smart glasses, a wireless charger, and a kid-friendly shower, at CES 2023. The main thing is that the brand gets two nominations for its innovative products. We will touch on this but first, have a look at its new products. Ampere introduced Dusk Sport, Dusk Rx, the Traction Timer, shower power buddies, and Horizon.

The latest prescription sunglasses come in three frame styles.  and will be available for purchase in quarter 2, 2023.

Horizon- 3-in-1 wireless charger

Ampere launched its new portable MFi and Magsafe 3-in-1 wireless charger Horizon. Thanks to the two patent-pending hinges allow you to transform the wireless charger into eight possible charging positions which indirectly makes the charging experience much better. Ampere’s Horizon 3-in-1 wireless charger has officially been certified for Magsafe and Apple watch modules.

The company claims, Apple’s latest watches including series 7, 8 and Apple watch Ultra charges faster with Horizon wireless charger, the Apple 7 and 8 charge 0 to 80% in just 45 minutes, and the Ultra takes around 60 minutes. With help of the Horizon, you can charge three devices simultaneously. Horizon starts at $199 and will be available for sale in April 2023.

Ampere Dusk Sport

Ampere announced its new Dusk Sport with sporty design smart sunglasses at CES 2023. The Ampere Dusk Sport starts at $399 and will be available for purchase from July 2023 via Amazon and Ampere’s official website. The oversized lenses offer maximum sun protection and adjustable tips and nose pads ensure a secure and comfortable fit.

It has cutting-edge electrochromic lenses with manually adjustable tints. The Dusk Sport has inbuilt microphones and speakers which lacks in the Dusk Rx. And it also has noise-canceling technology support which makes the calling experience much better in a noisy environment. The premium speakers offer loud, clear, crisp, rich bass sound thanks to the open-to-ear design.

Hands on: Blurams Outdoor Lite 4 Security Camera

There are many options to choose from when selecting a home security system. Blurams is one of the better-known brands in this competitive market and has a wide variety of products to fulfill security needs. I have been using the Outdoor Lite 4 Security Camera for a few weeks and will summarize what I like and dislike about it.

Design and Function

While the look of this camera is on par with any other brand’s outdoor camera, I am not particularly impressed with the feel. To put it bluntly, it feels cheaper than other security cameras that I have used in the past. I would venture to bet that one drop on a hard surface would result in a broken piece of equipment. However, I do appreciate that it comes with a long power cord and mounting hardware.

The camera is bulky, but that doesn’t bother me due to it being outdoors. The body is built to withstand harsh weather so once again, the size of the camera may make it more durable.

Neither the spotlights nor the siren overly impressed me. While they do largely function and respond as I had hoped, they are not as powerful as I had expected. The lights are just sufficient enough to get the job done but were a little underwhelming. The siren would certainly be heard by whomever is in front of the camera; however, I’m not confident that a neighbor or even someone in another room of the home would hear it very well.

Camera picture is great, motion and sound notifications respond and I haven’t missed anything that I can tell. While standard on this type of camera, the two-way talk is always nice to have.

Mobile App

The Blurams app has impressed me as it is easy to navigate and displays the camera picture very well. This camera has several options that can be accessed with a Blurams Guard account. Vehicle detection, pet detection, family member detection and package detection are all available with this upgraded account.

Operating the camera from the app is very straightforward. With a simple tap on your phone screen, you can activate alarms, lights, two way talk and recording functions. I have zero complaints about notifications. They are as customizable and gave me very few “false alarms” on motion detection, sound detection etc.

Installation

The installation of the camera was very easy and straightforward with simple directions. Setup took less than five minutes once I realized that it was not pairing with my older router. It is important to note that this camera can only operate on a 2.4GHz connection. Anything other than that, such as 5G, is not compatible with this camera.

Conclusion

I would recommend this camera to anyone who is working with a tight budget and who doesn’t want to be locked into a subscription. The cost for this camera sits around $50 which feels appropriate for a basic security camera.

The base function and features are available at no additional cost, making this a very affordable out-of-box solution. Other brands may force you into a subscription for the equipment to be used at all.

If you are in the market for a simple and easy to use camera that won’t break the bank, I would feel comfortable recommending the Blurams Outdoor Lite 4.

As the founder of Nomad Internet, Jaden Garza and his wife Jessica Garza set out to create a way for people to remain connected to the internet even while they were on the road, seeing the country using an RV. For travelers, internet connectivity is not only difficult to obtain, especially in areas where rural conditions exist, but it’s also a challenge to ensure privacy and safety with random internet connections. Nomad Internet created a solution.

What Is Nomad Internet?

Nomad Internet provides high-speed, wireless, low-latency broadband internet to travelers. For those traveling to rural locations throughout the U.S. in an RV or those who simply live in areas where internet access is limited, Nomad Internet provides a reliable solution. With a one-time fee and monthly service charge, travelers gain the ability to access the web from just about everywhere, something that was, before the company’s launch, much more difficult to do.

With the growing number of people hitting the road to explore the country, it has become increasingly difficult to secure reliable internet on the go. Nomad Internet offers up to unlimited coverage with no throttling and up to 200 Mbps of download speed, for example. Several plan options exist, with various pricing.

Why Nomad Internet Is So Important

In June of 2017, Jessica and Jaden Garza set out to create a way to get travelers connected to WiFi. According to Jessica Garza, “WiFi in RV parks is so terrible, and it takes away opportunities from ‘full-timers’. So, we set out to change that, one RV park at a time.”

The pair set out to create a solution and started with an RV park located in Johnson City, Texas. That opened in June 2017. The next month, they launched Nomad Internet in a second RV park located in Seguin, Texas. At this location, there were about 50 full-time RV-ers living, and the park was struggling to provide a high level of internet speeds to keep people connected to even the small amount of internet access present. To meet the needs here, Nomad Internet launched LTE technology for the first time. Once this was installed, it provided the RV park with an additional 400 Mbps of bandwidth, better meeting the needs of the people living there. At the time of its launch, this type of technology was new and not used heavily. With the launch of Nomad Internet’s use of LTE technology, it would be possible to provide internet solutions to more communities.

Meeting the Needs of the Girl Scouts

One of the most impressive steps in the early journey to the development of Nomad Internet occurred in 2018 when the Girl Scouts of America at San Jacinto connected with Jessica and Jaden Garza. They were looking for a way to improve internet connectivity at the Girl Scout Park. 

The team set out to find a solution after other internet providers had tried and failed to do so. In fact, not only did they succeed in providing a source of reliable internet, but they also did so at a fraction of the cost of what other companies charge. Jessica Garza shared that the Girl Scout Park had spent over $100,000 trying to solve its connectivity problem before Nomad Internet. They could do it for a small fraction of that.

To achieve this seemingly impressive process, Jaden Garza worked with BaiCells Technology. He worked to create a deal for a licensed LTE technology kit. They became one of the initial owners of the BaiCells LTE Base Station. Once in place, the park finally had the internet access it needed. 

While the simple ability to meet the goals and needs of the Girl Scout Park was exceptional in terms of Nomad Internet’s reach, it also was an important part of the organization’s development. It showcased Jaden Garza’s ability to take the service and the company to the next level. The stations created were a new solution and added to the organization’s reputation for using state-of-the-art technology.

Moving to Meet the Needs of Consumers

During its early founding, Nomad Internet focused heavily on meeting the needs of businesses, serving RV parks and other businesses that needed access to the internet that was reliable, including remote access. 

At the start of 2020, after finding significant growth and success, Nomad Internet made the move to incorporate the needs of consumers. The direct-to-consumer focus would open a new opportunity to meet not just the needs of people staying in RV parks but also those that were more mobile and seeing the world. 

The question was, though, how would that work? Traditionally, the internet is linked to a location, but for many people, being on the road is a very mobile process.

To meet this growing need, Jaden Garza worked to develop a solution using the now more advanced access to LTE technology. He designed a solution that was like what people were using routers with cellular service components. 

Nomad Internet set out to offer routers that came with a cellular service component to them, more specifically. This, provided directly to individuals or families, was able to provide connectivity and reliable service for people in rural communities. Utilizing LTE technology, people in remote areas could gain access to the internet they needed. This provided a solution for people who were unable to find reliable sources for connectivity due to their geographical area were able to do so.

Within many of these rural communities, there was a lack of fiber lines that traditionally provide access to internet connectivity. With the new solution from Nomad Internet, it was possible for people to gain reliable internet connectivity using a method much like cell phones.

The move to provide this type of direct consumer business model opened the door for opportunities for Nomad Internet but also created new needs for the company. This ultimately led to further growth and improved services.

Established and Growing

In October 2020, Nomad Internet established a private office space (the first such for the company) in New Braunfels, Texas. This new, private location was a clear indication of the company’s growth, as it had shared office space previously. The team had grown significantly to continue to meet the needs of consumers throughout the region. 

That month, Nomad Internet reached a huge milestone, hitting 10,000 customers. The growth rate for the company was incredible, as they only hit 5,000 customers in July 2020. In July 2021, the company reached 20,000 customers. 

In March 2022, the company entered its own standalone business. This was a huge accomplishment for the team. Moving into a building on 10 acres of land in Texas Hill Country showed just how valuable and important the company’s service had become to its customers.

New hybrid motor vehicles are coming out of the market in a very fast and furious fashion these days. From cars to skateboards, electric-powered options are bringing new ways for consumers to get around the world. E-bikes are one of the first to make this shift and C3STROM is set to shake that up again with the new Astro Pro E-bike.

Design

The first thing that really pops out is the classic motorcycle vibes the Astro Pro exudes. From the meaty wheels and tires to the very mechanical industrial metals, the Astro Pro looks fantastic. You could easily be fooled that this is a small motorcycle over a hybrid moped bike.

The throwback look is also present in the safety features. The front LED headlight is big and styled to match the look of early motorcycles as well. The same is true for the cargo rack on the back fender. The minimalistic cage would easily blend into the 1960s motorcycle scene.

Even the battery has a camouflaged design that makes it mimics the look of a traditional fuel tank. It sits horizontally in front of the bench seat and flows great within the other lines of the Astro Pro design. C3STROM has nailed the nostalgia from these press photos.

The only real thing that gives away that this is a hybrid unit is the pedals. The chained manual power source is still understated and kinda just blends into the rest of the Astro Pro.

Powerful

The powertrain of the C3STROM Astro Pro is a combination of the Bafang 750 Watt motor and a Samsung 1040 Watt-hour battery bank. These are two proven companies that have a consistent and successful track record powering the Astro Pro.

The company states that the Astro Pro can hit up to 32 MPH when using the pedal assist and off-road power mode. You can cruise at 28 MPH with assistance in the Class 3 road setting. Assistance equals the combination of a half-twist electric throttle and five levels of pedal assist.

C3STROM rates that you should get 32 miles of electric-only travel. Adding in the Class 1 pedal assistance can stretch this endurance to a max of 78 miles per charge. This allows massive flexibility from the Astro Pro.

Staying safe on the road

Safety is also well thought out by C3STROM on the Astro Pro. The front headlight is a 130-Lux LED lamp that should offer ample illumination at night. The light pulls double duty with the horn being integrated into the same casing. Your rear is covered too with LED brake and turn signal indicators.

Braking isn’t just superficial either. The Astro Pro offers hydraulic breaking on both the rear and front wheels. Each 20-inch wheel has a 4-piston with a 203mm disc brake. This should offer quick braking when needed to slow this bike down. Even at 95 pounds of total weight, the braking system should be more than enough.

Other specs and options

You can keep an eye on your battery, speed, and settings via a 3.5 LCD display mounted between the handlebars of the Astro Pro motorbike. There’s also a USB port in this panel to charge your phone while traveling. You can also add battery capacity with an optional second battery bank that installs onto the rear rack.

The racking system can be extended even further. C3STROM plans to offer storage, hydration systems, and cup holders to add to this mount as well. Speaking putting things together, the Astro Pro comes mostly assembled with only the wheels and handlebars to be users installed.

Pricing and availability

The Astro Pro moped is available now via the C3STROM website shop. The bike can be purchased in two colors: Dark Grey and Futuristic Silver. Pricing is set at $2700, but the company is currently offering $100 off a single bike sale or $300 off two bikes.

This puts the C3STROM far past an impulse buy, but from the spec sheet, you get a ton of features in a classic urban package. If the Astro Pro delivers on the company’s claims, this could be a great solution for the casual commuter and occasional offroader.
