Nothing Phone 2 is launching in July, confirms Carl Pei

0

Everyone witnessed the Nothing’s Phone 1 hype and success. People were very excited about the Phone 1 and the company is said to sold 750,000 units globally. Now Nothing founder Carl Pei has officially confirmed that the firm will launch the successor to the Phone 1 in July 2023. Nothing has already been confirmed that the next-gen phone i.e. the Nothing Phone 2 will be a premium one.

Nothing Phone 2 will debut in the US as well as other markets on the same day, said Carl Pei during an interview with Forbes. Last year, Nothing didn’t launch the Phone 1 in the US market until months after its global launch. Furthermore, Carl Pei told how crucial is US market for the success of the company. Nothing’s vision is to offer the best alternative to the iPhone for consumers across the US.

Pei also revealed key features of the Phone 2. The Nothing Phone 2 smartphone will pack a 4,700mAh battery which is up from 4,500mAh in the Phone 1. Speaking about the processor, earlier this year, at MWC 2023, Pei told that the upcoming Nothing phone will use a snapdragon 8 series processor. Nothing Phone 2 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor.

Moreover, Pei said that the brand is truly focusing on user experience rather than joining the specs race. Here is a statement from Pei, about why Nothing chooses to go with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, he said the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a “proven processor” that has been “thoroughly tested and continuously optimized through numerous updates since its introduction and the chip is efficient enough to deliver powerful performance with lesser cost.

The phone 2 is set to launch in July month though the exact launch date hasn’t been revealed yet. Nothing said that the Phone 2 will offer a significantly improved user experience compared to the predecessor- the Phone 1. It is still unclear whether Phone 2 will use the same design as Phone 1 or we’ll get to see another new design for the Phone 2.

VPNs and anti-virus – Do you need to go the extra cybersecurity mile with your smartphones?

With everyone carrying around all their most important details in their pockets, cybersecurity is more important than ever. The consequences of not taking cybersecurity seriously, even in your phone can be catastrophic. Accessing your data can lead to crimes like doxing, stalking, identity theft and more. If you want to avoid those problems, take a look at our suggestions for how to keep your phone and your data safe.

The Right to Be Forgotten

The Right to Be Forgotten is part of the GDPR privacy laws and says that everyone has the right to be erased from the internet. However, as you might imagine, this is easier said than done. Every website you access, every app you open, every action you take online is being recorded in some way. The use of this data ranges from the capitalist like marketing purposes to the dangerous to society like political propaganda or personally dangerous like mistakes made on social media endangering your career.

Services like Incogni offer users the chance to erase themselves from the internet. By taking control of your personal data, you can remove your personal details and data from as many sources as they can find.

Fintech crime: fraud and theft

Unfortunately, in this brave new world of digital dependence, there are numerous ways in which a bad apple can use your smartphone to take advantage of you. The most common of these include fintech crimes like hacking into public Wi-Fi to gain access to your online banking app. Installing a VPN will offer you some protection when you log into public Wi-Fi. Other ways hackers get into your bank account is with malware or phishing, so an anti-virus software would be a good help there.

The most common is identity theft, and when all of the most and least important details of your life are saved in apps and accounts, it’s easy to see how fintech criminals can easily pretend to be you.

Doxing and stalking

But the problem there is that fintech crime is only one way people can get to you via your phone. With location services and our culture’s inherent need to tell everyone where we are at all times, we’re very susceptible to doxing or stalking. A VPN can help when it comes to hiding your location as it will change your IP address to disguise where you are. However, you might want to also go through your apps and website subscriptions and be sure that location services are turned off if you’re worried about someone tracking you.

Conclusion

Nowadays, you’ll hear that personal data is more valuable than gold, and that’s true. Marketers want to use your data to better understand their customers, but, as we are about to discuss, marketers are not the only ones who value your personal data. Whether they’re after your money, your identity, your job or your vote, the key to getting it is personal data. If you value your privacy and security, you might want to think about installing some of these smartphone security measures.

OpenRock Pro review

The OneOdio OpenRock Pro Wireless Open-Ear Air Conduction Earbuds are an innovative and unique product that offer a different listening experience than traditional earbuds. These earbuds use air conduction technology, which allows the user to hear their music and ambient noise at the same time, making them a great option for outdoor activities or for those who want to be aware of their surroundings.

It’s a somewhat unorthodox design, to be sure, and somewhat calls to mind bone conduction headphones. They don’t have any premium sound but they do feature a pretty solid set of features that athletes might enjoy.

Design

Despite their unique design, the target user for the OneOdio OpenRock Pro earbuds is pretty much anyone who wants to enjoy music without being completely isolated from their surroundings. Outdoor enthusiasts, runners, and cyclists who need to be aware of their surroundings will enjoy being able to hear environmental sounds.

The OpenRock Pro earbuds come equipped with Bluetooth 5.2, which provides a strong and stable connection to your device. The earbuds are also IPX5 rated for water and sweat resistance, making them suitable for use during workouts or outdoor activities.

The curvature of the ear hook can be adjusted, although not necessary, and the rubber strip can be angled to fit various ear sizes comfortably. I appreciate the presence of a dedicated physical button for media playback and volume control, but found it difficult to locate each button during physical activity. Moreover, the default controls were not easy to remember. More on that in a moment.

Specifications for the OneOdio OpenRock Pro

  • Bluetooth 5.2
  • Bluetooth Range: 33 feet (10 meters)
  • 16.2 mm drivers
  • AAC, SBC, and aptX codec support
  • Up to 46 hours of music and calls (with charging case)
  • Charging for five minutes provides up to one hour of playback
  • IPX5 water and sweat-resistant

Audio

Earbuds designed for active use, such as during workouts or in noisy environments, don’t necessarily require pristine sound quality, but they must be well-balanced in their audio delivery, with clear vocals and ample low-end.

The OpenRock Pro earbuds certainly met my expectations in this regard. They provide a rich and full sound quality, especially in the bass frequencies as the volume was increased. I was surprised at how well-rounded they sounded.

In spite of the open-ear design I was impressed with how little sound leakage occurs. Even at higher volume levels music was barely audible from others in a room maybe 10 feet away.

Podcasts and audiobooks sound fantastic with each word clear and easy to understand. In fact, these might be among some of my favorite earbuds for this type of content around the house. However, and this is the same for standard earbuds, it difficult to hold conversations with audio playing – especially spoken word. You’ll want to turn them off or pause your audio if you’re going to try to hold a conversation.

Other thoughts

By default, a single click on either the right or left button pauses audio and another click resumes it, while a double click on the right increases the volume and a double click on the left decreases it. That’s pretty much par for the course in earbuds, sure.

The standard control for skipping a song is by pressing the button and holding it for 1.5 seconds, which is pretty wonky. Of note, the presets cannot be modified, and reviewing the manual is something you won’t want to skip.

The battery life of the earbuds is truly impressive, providing up to 46 hours of listening time on a single charge. This is ample time for most workouts, as well as extended activities such as marathons. The earbuds also come equipped with a fast charging feature that allows for an additional 60 minutes of playtime with just a 5-minute charge.

The extended battery life can be attributed to their energy-saving features and low power consumption. The earbuds automatically turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity, ensuring that the battery life is conserved. Additionally, the charging case can fully charge the earbuds up to four times before requiring a recharge.

The battery case design, for its part, is practical but a tad too bulky to fit comfortably in pants pockets.

Example settings and use cases for the OpenRock Pro

  • Outdoor activities: The open-ear design allows you to be aware of your surroundings while still enjoying your music, making them ideal for activities like hiking, running, or cycling.
  • Work: They’re lightweight and comfortable and let you hear colleagues and surroundings while still being able to listen to music or take calls.
  • Commuting: Commuters who need to be aware of their surroundings can listen to music or take calls without completely drowning out the environment.
  • Home: The open-ear design also makes them comfortable for music, podcasts, or other content while doing household chores or just relaxing.

Conclusion

The OneOdio OpenRock Pro Wireless Open-Ear Air Conduction Earbuds are a great option for anyone who wants a different listening experience and whose primary concern is to be aware of their surroundings while enjoying music.

The earbuds are versatile enough to be used in a wide range of settings, making them an excellent option for people who are always on the go. Priced $130, they punch above their weight in a few areas.

How to make games run better on Android

2
EDITOR NOTE: This content created in collaboration with “WESTCO

Mobile gaming has come a long way, transforming our phones into pocket-sized gaming consoles. But what do you do when your favorite Android game isn’t running as smoothly as you’d like? In this comprehensive guide, we’ll dive into the nitty-gritty of optimizing your Android device for a top-tier gaming experience.

Clear Your Cache

To improve your Android gaming experience, there is a simple step you can take – clear the cache on your device. Whenever an app or game runs on your phone or tablet, it stores temporary files called cached data. These files tend to accumulate over time and consume valuable space in storage, which could clog up memory management, resulting in sluggish performance while playing games.

Via How-To Geek

It’s essential, therefore, that now and then, you carry out this task of clearing out cached data. To accomplish this, you’ll need to access your device’s settings menu to navigate to the Apps section and select the particular game or app that needs its cache cleared.

Remember, clearing cached data won’t delete important files, game progress, or settings. Instead, it will free up memory, making your device run faster and potentially boosting the performance of your favorite online casino games to play for real money. It’s a quick, simple, and effective way to improve your mobile gaming experience.

Update Your Device Software

Another essential aspect of optimizing your Android device for gaming is ensuring it runs the latest software updates. These updates are not just about introducing new features. They often include crucial bug fixes, security enhancements, and performance improvements that can significantly impact your gaming experience.

via Wefix Tech

To check for updates, navigate to your device’s settings, typically found in the ‘System’ or ‘About Phone’ section. Here, you’ll find an option that says ‘System Update.’ By clicking on this, your device will check for any available updates. If one is available, ensure you’re connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network and proceed with the update.

Updating your software ensures your device has the latest enhancements and improvements the developers make. It can address many issues you might have faced with slow or lagging games. This way, you can enjoy a seamless gaming experience, making the most of your Android device’s capabilities.

Uninstall Unnecessary Apps

The performance of your device may suffer considerably if it becomes filled with redundant or unused applications. Such apps can occupy valuable storage space, operate secretly in the background, and drain vital system resources. By removing these applications, you can liberate storage space, diminish the number of background processes and ultimately optimize your gaming experience.

via USAToday

To remove redundant applications from your device, navigate to the settings and locate the’ Apps’ section. Proceed by perusing the register of installed programs. Once you encounter an application that is seldom or never utilized, click on it and select ‘Uninstall’ to eradicate it. If you are unsure about some apps, take a moment to ponder if they have been used in recent months. If the answer is negative, you can likely discard them without any repercussions.

By decluttering your device, you can ensure it’s running as smoothly as possible. Not only will this improve your gaming experience, but it will also make your device faster and more efficient in general.

Use Game Mode

Most modern Android devices come with a feature called ‘Game Mode.’ This feature optimizes your device specifically for gaming when activated. It works by allocating more system resources to your game, minimizing background activity, and sometimes even offering extra features like screen recording or do-not-disturb mode.

via DigitalTrends

This functionality is commonly accessible within your device’s settings. If it is not readily apparent, attempt to seek it out by utilizing the search function. Once enabled, you can assign individual games to Game Mode, which will activate automatically whenever such a game commences.

Reduce Game Graphics Settings

While playing games with high graphics settings can provide a visually stunning gaming experience, it can also strain your device, leading to sluggish performance, especially on lower-end devices. Thus, reducing the game’s graphics settings can significantly improve gameplay smoothness and reduce lag.

via Wccftech

Many games, particularly those that demand a lot of system resources, offer the capability to modify visual options. This feature is typically accessible in the game’s settings menu under labels such as ‘Graphics’ or ‘Display.’ Adjusting features like texture quality, resolution, and frame rate can alleviate some pressure on your device hardware. This can result in an overall more agreeable gaming experience with better performance.

Although the game may not look as impressive with reduced graphics, the performance improvement might make your gaming experience far more enjoyable. It’s all about finding the best balance for your specific device and your preferences as a gamer.

Conclusion

Enhancing your Android gadget for gaming doesn’t have to be an intricate undertaking. With these uncomplicated measures, you can remarkably elevate your gameplay encounter and relish your cherished games in their most original form. Have a jolly good time playing!

Tozo Golden X1 review

Seattle-based Tozo recently released a new pair of wireless earbuds called the Golden X1. The Golden X1 is a high-end pair of earbuds designed to provide exceptional sound quality and comfort for music lovers and audiophiles alike. Let’s dive into the details, specifications, and other features about the Golden X1.

Design and Comfort

The Tozo Golden X1 earbuds come in a sleek and stylish design that is sure to turn heads. The earbuds are small and lightweight, making them comfortable to wear for extended periods. They are also ergonomically designed to fit snugly in your ear, providing a secure fit that won’t slip out during exercise or other activities.

Specifications

  • Driver Size: 12mm
  • Audio Codec: LDAC (24bit/96khz music)
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.3
  • Battery Life: Up to 8 hours per charge, up to 32 hours total with charging case
  • Controls: Touch
  • Mobile with EQ settings and touch control customization

Sound Quality

The Tozo Golden X1 earbuds are designed to deliver exceptional sound quality with their high-fidelity audio technology. They use a powerful 12mm driver and LDAC audio codec to deliver rich and clear audio that audiophiles are sure to enjoy. The earbuds also feature active noise cancelling technology (ANC), which blocks out external noise and provides a more immersive listening experience.

There are pretty obvious layers in how music comes across but I might have appreciated just a bit more on the lower end with the default setting. Volume gets plenty loud and even at the top it stays pretty clear. Thankfully, the mobile app provides 16 EQ options that span all genres of music. Some of them are more obvious than others but surely you’ll settle on something that works for you.

Connectivity and Controls

The Tozo Golden X1 earbuds use Bluetooth 5.3 to connect to your devices, providing a stable and reliable connection. They also feature touch controls, which allow you to adjust the volume, skip tracks, and answer calls with a simple touch of your earbud.

It might take a little bit of time to figure these out but once you do, it’s a well-rounded experience. Long pressing and understanding how much contact was required was probably the biggest challenge for me but your mileage may vary.

The mobile app does a great job of letting users customize each earbud and its various functions. You can decide what a single, double, and triple tap do, and also configure what a long press does to volume.

Battery Life

The Tozo Golden X1 earbuds come with a charging case that provides up to 32 hours of total playtime. The earbuds themselves can provide up to 8 hours of playtime on a single charge, which is perfect for extended listening sessions.

You should have no issues getting through a standard week’s worth of listening, be it commutes, workouts, or podcasts around the pool.

Target User

The Tozo Golden X1 earbuds are targeted towards music lovers and audiophiles who demand the best in sound quality and comfort. They are also suitable for people who lead an active lifestyle and need earbuds that can stay in place during exercise or other activities.

One drawback of earbuds is that they may not fit comfortably in all ear sizes. Some users may find that the earbuds do not fit snugly enough in their ears, which can affect the sound quality and overall listening experience. To that end, the Tozo Golden X1 come with five additional sizes, ensuring you’ll find the right fit.

Final Thoughts

All things considered, the Tozo Golden X1 earbuds are a great choice for anyone who values sound quality and comfort. With their powerful drivers, noise-cancelling technology, and touch controls, they provide an exceptional listening experience that is sure to impress.

Battery life is excellent and the sound quality is above average for the price. The mobile app offers up a fair amount of customization so I’d definitely recommend installing it for the best experience.

Learn more about the Golden X1 earbuds at the Tozo website where you can purchase a pair for about $150 as of today. Alternatively, they are also offered at Amazon with the same price.
