Zettlab, a new name in personal data infrastructure, has announced the Zettlab AI NAS, a sleek offline solution that blends high-end hardware, privacy-first architecture, and a locally-run AI engine. Now available for pre-order on Kickstarter, this system is designed to offer users smart file management without handing over their data, or their wallet, to the cloud.
Local AI Meets Personal Cloud
The Zettlab AI NAS isn’t just another network-attached storage box. It runs on ZettOS, a Debian-based operating system that enables a suite of AI features, semantic file search, media transcription, OCR, document summarization, and more, all processed locally. That means no internet connection is required for its AI tools to work, and no third-party eyes snooping around your data.

The AI capabilities extend beyond search and categorization. Zettlab includes tools like “AI Clip” for subtitling and transcription, and an onboard chatbot for document Q&A. Users can also connect popular third-party services like Plex, NextCloud, and Home Assistant via its native App Store, or spin up containers using Docker support.
Built for Creators and Power Users
Zettlab’s creator-focused features include one-touch SD/TF card copying, smart media tagging, and a bundled Creator Studio app that merges storyboard planning, call sheets, and production notes, all available at no extra charge.
The high-performance Ultra models feature an Intel Core Ultra 5 125H processor with 14 cores and up to 34 TOPS of AI compute, backed by 16GB DDR5 RAM (expandable to 96GB). Storage scales up to 200TB, and connectivity includes dual 10GbE ports, USB4, and PCIe 4.0.
Privacy and Design in Harmony
There’s no cloud syncing, data tracking, or background uploading, just encrypted transfers, RAID support, and a focus on local control. The minimalist aluminum chassis looks more like a high-end media hub than a traditional NAS, with a built-in 3.49-inch LCD display providing real-time system stats.

Despite its enterprise-grade specs, Zettlab promises a plug-and-play setup and a clean, browser-based interface that works across desktop and mobile. One-click app installations and an AI-guided assistant help streamline everything from backup routines to media organization.
