Pokémon GO Kicks Off “Memories in Motion” Season With New Weekly Events and Features

Pokémon GO is gearing up for its next in-game season, “Memories in Motion,” running from March 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. to June 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. local time. The seasonal update brings structural changes to events, new weekly bonuses, and a slate of content aimed at keeping Trainers active throughout the spring.

Event Structure Gets a Refresh

Starting with Memories in Motion, event pacing in Pokémon GO will follow a more regular schedule. Weekend events will now take place on Saturdays in local time, offering a clearer rhythm for players planning their in-game activities.

Another notable shift is the move away from traditional paid event tickets toward event GO Passes. These passes function as progression tracks, allowing Trainers to complete tasks, earn GO Points, and unlock rewards over time. A paid GO Pass Deluxe option will be available for those who want upgraded rewards and faster advancement.

Later in the season, an in-game event calendar will be introduced, providing Trainers with centralized access to upcoming event details.

Daily Discoveries Add Weekly Incentives

Memories in Motion introduces “Daily Discoveries,” themed bonuses tied to specific days of the week. These will run from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. local time unless otherwise noted.

Each day offers a distinct focus:

  • Sunday – Double-Time Sunday: Incense and various Lure Modules will last up to twice as long.
  • Monday – Fast-Track Monday and Max Monday: Trainers earn 2× GO Points from Pass Tasks. Power Spots refresh more frequently, additional Power Spots appear, and Max Battles rotate Dynamax Pokémon. Max Battles run from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time.
  • Tuesday – Showcase Tuesday: PokéStop Showcases feature up to 20 different categories.
  • Wednesday – Raid Hour: Five-star Raid Bosses and Mega Raids rotate weekly, with Raid Hour continuing from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday – GO Battle Thursday: Up to 4× Stardust from win rewards and an increase from five to 10 daily battle sets.
  • Friday – Friendship Friday: Up to two Special Trades, increased Lucky Trade chances, reduced Stardust trade costs, and guaranteed Candy XL for eligible Trainers. These bonuses apply to in-person trades.

Daily Discoveries will pause during the week of global GO Fest, GO Wild Area, and GO Tour events.

Shiny Encounters and Team GO Rocket Bonuses

Two stylized Pokémon Bulbasaur characters, one with a pink flower and the other with a yellow flower, set against a blue background.

The season expands Shiny opportunities. Any evolved Pokémon in the wild can appear Shiny if its Shiny version has already debuted. Raid Battles and Eggs will offer higher Shiny encounter rates compared to standard wild spawns.

Pokémon rescued from Team GO Rocket that have had their Shiny debut may appear Shiny, with boosted odds from Leaders and Giovanni.

Special Research: Pressure Rising

A new Special Research story, “Pressure Rising,” launches March 3 at 10:00 a.m. local time. Available to all Trainers at no cost, the storyline culminates in an encounter with the Mythical Pokémon Volcanion.

A fantasy creature resembling a rock-like figure with red and blue colors, standing in front of a fiery volcanic landscape.

Players who previously completed the Pokémon GO Fest 2025–exclusive Special Research tied to Volcanion will receive Volcanion Candy instead. The research does not expire, allowing Trainers to complete it at their own pace.

Community Days and Competitive Play

Four Community Day events are scheduled during the season:

  • March 14
  • April 11
  • May 9
  • May 16 (Community Day Classic)

The GO Battle League returns as part of the seasonal rotation, featuring formats such as the Kanto Cup, Fantasy Cup, and Jungle Cup.

Research Breakthrough encounters this season may include Gyarados, Honedge, Dhelmise, Sinistea, Duraludon, and Dreepy, with select Pokémon offering Shiny potential.

Egg pools will rotate across 2 km, 5 km, 7 km, and 10 km Eggs, with featured Pokémon including Dunsparce, Wimpod, and Tadbulb.

Celebrating a Decade of Pokémon GO

A festive gathering of various Pokémon characters celebrating the 10th anniversary of Pokémon GO, set in a grassy outdoor park with trees in the background.

In recognition of 10 years of Pokémon GO and 30 years of the Pokémon franchise, a new camera feature called “What’s Your Favorite?” lets Trainers pose with their favorite Pokémon for profile images or social sharing. The season will feature themed stickers available via PokéStops, Gifts, and the in-game shop.

Seasonal bonuses include guaranteed Candy XL for eligible in-person trades, extra Candy on trades, and increased XP and Stardust for seven-day spin and catch streaks.
