$30/month per line for 500 minutes, which I don’t think we’ll go over often. (Sprint SERO) That includes unlimited data and texts. Haven’t received a bill yet, so I’m not sure how much we’ll be charged in junk fees, but I doubt it’ll be more than $10, so I’m anticipating about $80/month max for my phone and my wife’s phone.
I’m tired of my Treo, have finally given up on Palm OS, and didn’t think I could wait until end of this year/next year for an Android phone. I had decided to switch to AT&T and get a 3G iPhone, but when I looked at the iPhone plans and realized that it would almost double my monthly bill to switch, I decided I’d wait for a while.
I just hope Sprint gets an Android phone out the door pretty quick. If not, I may have to jump to T-Mo. (They’re going to have the first one out, right?)
My usage is 10 to 1 data / talk, meaning I use my phone for data ( surfing, checking my mail, Twitter, IM, etc. ) ten times more than I actually talk to people on it.
So what I did was go to the WalMArt and bought the cheapest AT&T pre-pay Go Phone they had ( $12.95 ), took it home and signed up for Pay As You Go service, via the web site, with a fake name and fake address. They prompted me for a credit card, but I just entered the free 10 minute air time card that came with the phone and it by passed tying the phone to an actual card.
After establishing the cheap Go Phone on AT&T’s network, made a couple calls, testing it to make sure it worked, I took the 3G SIM out of it and put it into my unlocked RAZR V3XX imported from Sigapore. The SIM picked up AT&T’s network right away. I then installed Opera Mini ( OTA, not sideloaded ) and configured the RAZR/Opera to connect to AT&T’s data network, tested it, surfed a bit, check my Gmail.
Finally, I dialed 611 and said the secret word when prompted to buy new services ( “other” ) which cause the “Unlimited 3G data plan” option to be offered. Said “OK” and it charged twenty buck from my pre-paid balance. The RAZR displays the “3G” logo when connected through Opera and it’s pretty fast, occasionally giving me HSDPA speeds, when in certain parts of Dallas Texas.
…short answer to your question? I am willing to pay 20 bucks for Unlimited 3G data, not one penny more. Actual calls to people are like 10, 20 cents each, but who cares, phone calls are pretty low volume for me.
KTHXBAI
Wow I have a Verizon Plan and I am getting screwed I pay 59.99 for 900 any time mins plus 9.99 for 500 texts, so by the time they add on all the taxes and charges my bill comes out to be $80!
My contract just ended so I am ready to get a better deal with T-mobile and Android….I heard for $149.99 that I can have unlimited talk/text for two people which is less than what me and my wife pay now (each of us have the same plan and pay $160)
and I need all the minutes i can get since i use my phone non-stop for work.
I wanted to get that plan from T-mobile and then to add an internet plan to at least my phone but then that will put us probably at $180!!!! Do you guys have a better company for what I need…?
I spend about $40, including, tax and all the other Junk fees. I get 300 min (I maybe use 150-200 of them), sprint to sprint, unlimited data, unlimited txt, and unlimited picture mail. Part of the thing keeping me on sprint is my grandfathered data plan, and coverage (t-mobile’s was too week in places I used to travel throughout the country) But I agree with Ryan O. on getting an Android phone for Sprint. I’m sick of my phone I want a new one, but I don’t want to wait forever. If by the time the HTC Dream (or whatever they will call it when it’s released) comes out on T-mobile this years, they have rolled out decent 3G coverage in most big cities, and have a good rate plan I just might switch. I don’t travel as much as I used to in the states, there coverage has improved, and I travel more outside of the country, so ditching my crappy unlocked phone for one I can use both here an abroad would be nice.
Ive got 3 lines, $50 family plan. + $20 for the additional 2 lines. +$25 for iPhone data plan and unlimited mobile 2 mobile messaging. +$10 for another one of the lines for messaging and unlimited m2m messaging (which is a discontinued feature from at&t).
$130/month for 200 daytime minutes, voicemail and call display, unlimited text, and 500mb data. Brutal but true. Why so expensive? I’m in Canada, on Rogers. $80/month is for the data.
So now I hear they’ll offer 6gb/month for $30 to iPhone 3g buyers. Will they extend the love to those of us with other devices? Probably not. Will I bitch and complain about that? Yes. Will it make any difference? No.
$120 for 1500 mins/mo and iphone fee
well for three people, $140, that includes unlimited text, internet/pic mail for one phone, 1500min and free roaming, cheapest ive seen, its Sprint too, i dnt care what anyone says, service is not that bad, internet is the fastest, 1xRTT or EV-DO, Verizon is slowest, i think, and WAY overpriced just like AT&T
30 eur / month. free calls to o2 mobile and landline, 50 free sms, 200mb free data. i’m from germany
$80/month on sprint after taxes and everything for two lines, one of which has unlimited data and the other has 1000 txt messages and the other has 300.
I get 25% off due to an employee discount which I get to continue forever because I had an internship at [insert major international computer and services company which has a three letter acronym]
I’m pretty disappointed with my HTC Touch though. If only I could teather my Apple iPod Touch to it…
I don’t talk on the phone very often and when I do it’s usually during the evening and weekends. As such, I have the smallest voice plan at $29.99 for 200 daytime minutes (I think I use at most half of that in a month) and $15 for unlimited data. $5 for 300 texts as well. Total with crap fees is like $55 a month.
Ethan: I forget, does your version of the Touch have Wifi? If so, look into WMWiFiRouter.
