Motorola Slides to Fifth Place in Q2

Written by AndroidGuys • Jul 10th, 2008 • Category: Hardware News, Recent News

It’s generally not so bad to be the 5th best for things.  When you’re Motorola, however, it’s not the best news.  The numbers continue to get worse for the handset maker after the second quarter rankings were calculated.  Skipping 4th place and falling 2 notches to 5th place, the company has beaten expectations in the worst of ways. They are now seated behind Nokia, Samsung, LG, and Sony Ericsson.

Fortune had predicted earlier this year that the one-time cellular behemoth was figured to end up in fourth by the end of 2008.  So much for that.  It’s probably going to be a while before they can shake their image and put their problems behind them.  The handsets we’re going to get for the next few months had been planned and worked on for quite a while.  Let’s just hope we’re done with the RAZR looking devices soon.

It looks more and more like Motorola will be depending on Android to pull them from the brink.  It’s just too bad nobody has any idea what they’ve got in the works.  Do you hear us Motorola? - Send a PR person our way, we have questions.
