The Google I/O developer conference gets rolling today and continues through tomorrow. Expected to be covered are technologies such as Google App Engine, for building and hosting Web applications, and OpenSocial, the Google-backed application programming interface (API) for social networking.

Initially expecting 2,000 attendees, Google said 2,500 people signed up by last Thursday evening. All 50 winners from the Android Developers Challenge were given initiations to attend. And why is that? Android is expected to be a presence at the two-day conference.

Two sessions revolving around the platform are planned, both hosted by Jason Chen:

  • Introduction to Android
  • Building an Application for Android 101

If any of you readers attend the conference, let us know what you take away from either of these sessions. We’ll be happy to debrief you for the rest of the Android community!
