Now that there are 46 known winners from the first round of the Android Developers Challenge, we have a definite idea as to what potential exists for the platform. We can’t imagine what some of these will look like or how they’ll operate with more time and money given to the cause. AndroidGuys is here to provide you readers with a little bit more detail than just names and developers. We’re going to do our best to give you a few extra tidbits so you get a better feel for what’s in store.

Application Name: E-ventr
Developer: Michael Zitzelsberger
Website:
What they say: Personal mobile event manager and friendship finder. Easy mechanism to arrange meetings with your friends, organize them and accept invitations – party, sports or concerts.

What we say: Looks to be another great “personal assistant” type program. Should make planning events a breeze. Simplistic design makes it appear to be rather intuitive.

What they say: Em-Radar is a revolutionary mobile product that alerts you about emergencies and severe weather with always-on 24 hours a day emergency monitoring.
What we say: It’s hard to say at this point, but we’re definitely into emergency preparedness and monitoring. With recent events like earthquakes and cyclones, you can’t get enough information and having it mobile makes it that much better. We especially like the ability to stay in touch with family members in event of emergencies.

What we say: Combining weather with GPS and triangulated cell phones towers is logical, but HandWx exceeds expectations. Very handy with not having to put in zip codes or cities. The “follow me” mode is intriguing to us as well.

  1. Where’s Enkin? I can’t believe they weren’t in the top fifty.

Everyone I’ve shown the video of Enkin running have been blown away by it.

Some of these programs sound cool, but most of them don’t come anywhere close to the way that Enkin made me want to wait for my next phone to be an android model.
