We’re pleased to inform you that your entry is among the top 50 submissions and that you will be awarded $25,000 USD. Your application has demonstrated originality, indispensability, intuitiveness, and good use of the Android platform - which are all attributes that our judges looked for while evaluating submissions to the challenge.

And so goes the email being sent to the 50 winners. The first Android Developer Challenge results are in and and not so surprising, almost all of the applications have impressed the judges. According to the Android Developer Blog,

Based on feedback from the judges, it was apparent that large number of applications were compelling, innovative and well implemented. The quality of these entries clearly reflects the creativity and hard work that developers have invested in building their apps.

The first round was found to be very competitive, with most of the entries being Geo and Social Networking type applications. Among those types were a pair that we profiled with our Spotlight Series - Enkin and Geo Monkey.

An application that caught the attention on the Android Developer Blog is the one that combined weather, pollen and allergy information in the context of a map that is relevant to a user’s location. Great stuff to have for you out there concerned with how weather affects your health. It’s nice to have more than just the time and temperature at your finger tips, right?

The list of the winners are not yet published, so keep an eye, or make that both eyes on AndroidGuys for future updates regarding the winners. It’s expected that May 12th will see an actual list announced.
