Developers Challenge Notifications Being Sent
Written by AndroidGuys • May 9th, 2008 • Category: Developer News, Recent NewsAccording to our friends over at HelloAndroid, email notifications are going out letting developers know if they’ve made it through the first round. TuneWiki is alleged to be one of the winners as is another from the HelloAndroid team. While we’ve not seen any other official notice of these being sent, we’re not in a position to dispute this. They’re a dedicated developer site with their finger on the pulse.
The winner emails indicate that the top 50 entrants have the opportunity to fill out a form with a screenshot and contact information which should be published on Monday. So we should expect to see a list of the top entries that wish to be listed on Monday.
We’ll have our eyes on the official blog and Google groups this weekend. Hopefully, some of our Developer Spotlight guys end up with a share of the winnings!
AndroidGuys is is mentioned in the latest issue (July '08) of WIRED.

It was a big day for all the thousands of Android developers who submitted their applications to the first round of judging. Out of 1788 entrants, only 50 received the good news this morning. We won’t know until Monday exactly who those 50 are.
Unfortunately our application (Puluwai location-based mobile real estate search: http://www.puluwai.com) was not among the top 50 selected. This did not come as a huge surprise to us because our application is straightforward and not flashy like many of the games and radical social networking apps that were submitted to the Android challenge. Still, we will continue to polish our application and release it on both the Android and iPhone native platforms later this year.
Congratulations to the winners! To all the other entrants: don’t give up on your application idea just because some random judge who spent twenty minutes with it didn’t like it. If you have a great idea that meets a real user need, please, continue to pursue it!
